What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

This is our second project that we work with flutter agency. For the first project we want them to develop our Native SDK's flutter version and we were very happy with the results. This is why we wanted to work with flutter agency to implement push notification features to our flutter SDK. So again they implemented this features to our flutter SDK and they have created good documentation for us to how to implement it to our customers' applications. 

They are very helpful and they know what to do very well. I would like to thank Flutter Agency for providing us all our native SDK capabilities in our Flutter SDK.

They delivered project on the time and we were always able to communicate quickly with Flutter agency for any of our needs.

We heard pitches from 2 different vendors and Flutter Agency were better set-up to work with start-ups and had demonstrated success launching cross platform products

We provided them with the build ready designs and had already mapped out the backlog in Jira. We provided these artifacts to them and they came back with a timeline and mixed team arrangement that really suited our needs.

We had an associate Engineer full time and a lead engineer for oversight and estimations. We also dealt with our account manager Tejas who was great.

We launched the Beta on both of the stores and completed the entire backlog we set out to achieve. We are extremely happy with the collaboration and work completed by the team.

I’m the VP of product management for a company that develops a mobile and web application for a B2C product in the travel and hospitality industry. I lead the product development side, and I occasionally get engaged to augment the engineering side as needed. We have between 1–10 employees, and we’re based in the San Francisco Bay area.

What challenge were you trying to address with Flutter Agency?

We needed development services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Flutter Agency provides us with development services based on our specifications. I initially shared with them the user stories for a couple of key personas that we needed to develop, and they developed our mobile and web app based on those user stories specifications.

As for the technology stack, the mobile app will be available for both iOS and Android. Additionally, our company uses Google Flutter and various Google Cloud technologies like Firebase and Cloud Firestore, so Flutter Agency used Google’s technologies for this development.

According to our requirements, they implemented many different ways to log into the app, flexible and scalable ways for users to create orders, and a way for users to maintain their profiles that, over time, are going to evolve with personalization features. Additionally, they integrated a machine learning component to this product that relies heavily on the personalization feature.

Flutter Agency also provided us with some initial consulting regarding the look and feel of our app, and they were involved in the design of some of the icons that appear inside the app, but we had to pause that because we didn’t have our branding ready. They’re capable of doing the UI design, and we plan to engage more on that side going forward.

What is the team composition?

We communicate mainly with Flutter Agency’s project manager, and we’ve worked with a technical lead who handles the technical side of our engagement. However, I’ve also seen 2–3 other people involved in the coding and the calls. In total, there are around four people involved in the project.

I researched and found them online.

We’ve spent about $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together by the end of April 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Flutter Agency has great mobile and web app development skills using Flutter and Google Cloud technologies.

How did Flutter Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Flutter Agency has performed well overall. They offer great communication, and our main point of contact has addressed all of our questions and brought the appropriate people to the table as needed.

We’ve used various communication tools, depending on who we’re collaborating with. Initially, a lot of our communication was through email. Still, we’ve also used GitHub, for example, to manage the code ourselves so that we could use it and extend its development with the help of other teams as needed. Additionally, we’ve had Zoom calls to clarify some of the user stories.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Flutter Agency has demonstrated a good depth of knowledge and overall end-to-end expertise working with Google Cloud and Flutter.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Our engagement has been too short, so we haven’t had the opportunity to create all the touchpoints between them and the other engineering teams. Once we get there, we will have more exposure to how they interact and integrate with the others, and maybe we will have some feedback for them. So far, they’ve done everything that we’ve needed.

We hired them to help us enhance an existing Flutter application which is a video app with games for families. We needed several new activities to be built, critical bug fixes and support for subscriptions across both platforms.

We found them through a google search for flutter agencies. Since we hadn't worked with them before, we agreed to a trial period with a simple project to start. They delivered as promised on that initial project.

Varun developed several new experiences within our app and worked closely with our PM, CTO, and other engineers. He worked autonomously and quickly on each task, making smart suggestions, giving product and technical feedback, and always delivered on the plan. Most of the work was client-side flutter but he also did some node.js services work.

We worked with 2 developers from the team but Varun primarily, an individual engineer.
