I work as a Mobile Payments Team Leader/Product Owner. The scope of work has encompassed a comprehensive collaboration with Finanteq and has been focused on mobile app development (out of my scope) and the subsequent incorporation of the SuperWallet solution (m-commerce [mobile commerce] experience). 

As the Product Owner and Mobile Payments Team Leader, my responsibilities involved closely coordinating with Finanteq to ensure the successful integration of their technology of the SuperWallet into our mobile banking app. Overall, the scope of work aimed to create a cohesive and user-centric m-commerce experience within our mobile banking app through close collaboration with Finanteq, resulting in the successful integration of SuperWallet and the expansion of our mobile banking capabilities.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The most significant outcome is an increase in the quantity of m-commerce transactions (public transport tickets, parking tickets) conducted through our mobile banking app, as well as the number of active customers.

• To develop a mobile application (Santander mobile) for retail customers that delights.
• We have additionally decided to implement Finanteq’s SuperWallet (the m-commerce platform) into our app, which is a perfect product dedicated to the industry. The combination of banking functionalities with a rich package of value-added services provides a number of benefits for both our customers and the bank (more than traditional m-banking).

Finanteq's team supports the bank in all mobile-related initiatives. They have the necessary experience to advise the best options regarding mobile banking app development. They ensure a consistent customer experience throughout the application, as well as its security and quality. 

Finanteq is responsible for researching and designing the application's user experience and collecting and analyzing customer feedback, which translates into further development of new features and making changes in line with customers' and the bank's business needs. 

Examples of functionalities provided by Finanteq are: quick balance check, notification inbox, password and PIN change, transaction history, and pushes. The technologies used are iOS, Android, Swift, Kotlin, and Java.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our application is ranked 5th in Poland in the finance category, both in Apple and Google Store. It is brilliantly rated by users.

We had a dedicted Project Manager from Finanteq whow as streamlining the co-operation between Finanteq and the bank. Finanteq was always very understanding if it comes to requirements resulting from difficult banking environment in Poland. They were also happy to provide us with ad hoc support in the crisis situations.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Banking is a demanding industry, and the Finanteq Team is well specialized in the field. They are experts who do not only deliver, but also advise on the best possible solution. In my opinion, FINANTEQ consists of excellent professionals with the proper attitude – they are communicative, experienced, proactive, accustomed to solving problems, understanding and accepting "banking realities", and flexible. Most of the developers provided by Finanteq are considered to be top developers among the team members.

Are there any areas for improvement or something FINANTEQ could have done differently?

Nothing worth mentioning to be honest, we are happy with the current co-operation.

What challenges were you trying to address with FINANTEQ?

We wanted to create a mobile app for our business.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our partnership with FINANTEQ began with the early days of iOS, Android, and BlackBerry development — they created a mobile banking platform for us. Consequently, FINANTEQ’s involvement with us grew strategically to the point where they’re now our partners for initiatives in the mobile banking space. Every year we make several updates to the platform to innovate and improve the customer experience by adding new features, like a live chat function, or even creating a separate app for a specific sector of our customers. In terms of technologies, they’re currently using Swift and Xcode.

Regarding documentation, we’ve started by going through contracts, NDAs, and documentation with our technical infrastructure so they can understand our landscape and how we want to upscale our technologies every year. We’ve also given them access to the test environment and data so they can do QA for performance.

What was the team composition? 

When the project started, we began working with less than ten members of FINANTEQ’s team, but as our project grew, we upscaled the team to around 60 resources.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent $10 million–$15 million with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2014, and the engagement is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The consistent quality of FINANTEQ’s work is excellent despite the different needs that have arisen throughout the process. We haven’t had any production incidents or issues that could affect our customers; they’re good at understanding our business and its requirements and are able to turn their tech-savviness into good initiatives. Furthermore, we’re receiving great feedback from users in the Android and iOS application stores. Plus, we see good acceptance of the product whenever we do marketing campaigns on our social media — customers are happy and praise all the new features we keep adding to the platforms.

How did FINANTEQ perform from a project management standpoint?

FINANTEQ’s team has a dedicated project management team for us and our different tasks. That team is responsive, available whenever we need them, communicative, and punctual — it feels as if they’re working on-site despite being in a different country because they answer all of our questions and are ready with all the statuses and initiatives of the tasks. We also have daily stand-up meetings for follow-up, which are well-structured to avoid impacting the development team by wasting their time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

FINANTEQ's best attributes are their quality of work, availability, and commitment — whenever we reach out to them, we get a response almost immediately.

Are there any areas they could improve?

FINANTEQ hasn’t been able to deliver on time in terms of rapid resource scaling. I understand this is due to our large number of initiatives, forcing them to upscale their team and hire new people. Moreover, they got impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian Invasion of Ukraine.

Nonetheless, they should expand their resources. The market is saturated and high in demand, so it’s important to have dedicated people researching new technologies so they can be able to be more proactive in suggesting ideas to their customers.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend people to work with FINANTEQ — they’re a successful technology company with knowledge of mobile banking applications. Moreover, it’s important to have budget availability and have your documentation ready; FINANTEQ can be very supportive when you have a detailed roadmap and a requirement list for them to start the process immediately. Not having this ready will make the project take longer and delay the delivery.

I work as a Project Manager in mBank Corporate division. mBank is the most innovative bank in Poland. We were the first Polish bank to go fully online. Our organization sets the direction and trends in mobile and online banking.

For what projects/services did your company hire FINANTEQ, and what were your goals?

We wanted our corporate clients to handle their financial tasks via smartphones. The cooperation with Finanteq resulted in the first mobile application for this client segment in Poland. Since the beginning of our project, we have developed many functionalities and are constantly working on further improvements.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were looking for a trustworthy partner who could build the best solution for us. A solution designed to delight our customers. We wanted to hire a company with experience of working in the business. Finanteq met all our expectations, so we started cooperation, which we are going to continue in the future.

We started working with Finanteq (part of eLeader then) in 2011. The development lasted a year. In 2013, the application was launched on four platforms: iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile. Since then, Finanteq has been supporting the ongoing development of the mBank corp application. A significant milestone was a full app redesign due to the bank's rebranding in 2014. In 2016, the authentication method was changed. The implementation of mobile authentication which replaced the previously used hardware tokens made life easier for end users. We are constantly expanding new functionalities. Currently, we are working on development of pushes, FX quotations and foreign currency transfers.

The team involved in the project consists of eight people: a scrum master, iOS and android developers, a tester, and business analysts. In cooperation with the team, I highly appreciate efficient communication and quick resolution of all issues.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our app – CompanyMobile, which we co-created with FINANTEQ, has been nominated in the prestigious Mobile Trends Awards 2021 contest in the Mobile Banking category. Also, the number of downloads and great ratings in App Store and Google Play prove the quality of the app.

With FINANTEQ we work in agile. Our main communication channels are MS Teams, e-mail and Redmine.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

With Finanteq’s support, we are able to deliver new versions of the application really fast and without any problems. The retention rate within the company’s teams over the years has been really great. We appreciate that we can collaborate with stable line-ups for a long time.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I am satisfied with their work. Their technical excellence and unbelievable passion is reflected in the quality of the app.

I am a Project Manager at BNP Paribas Polska. It is a universal bank, listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. We are a part of BNP Paribas, a leading European banking group.

Since the beginning of the GOmobile app, the development and maintenance of the application have been entrusted to Finanteq. Our goal was to deliver a convenient app to customers, improving their user experience and providing desired functionalities.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

When selecting a vendor, the main factors for us are reliability, quality and good communication. Finanteq met these requirements. We have been cooperating successfully for over five years.

We are constantly working on developing new functionalities. Currently, we are working on dark mode. Regarding our latest implementations, I can list:

1. Tax transfer – thanks to a special form, the app user can make a tax transfer straight from the phone;
2. Change of personal data - user can update the email and address data in the application;
3. Easy charity transfer – for supporting charity organizations selected by the Bank. Technologies: iOS, Android, backend.

Our customers are happy about good updates and support. We track their suggestions and always try to provide the best experience. The GOmobile app stands out in the market and surely engages our customers. Average rating: App store: 4,6 Google Play: 4,5

I really appreciate the effective communication at Finanteq. We work in agile. Regarding tools, we are using Rocket Chat/emails. We have daily meetings via Webex and we also use Jira/Confluence for project management.

FINANTEQ genuinely understands our needs and has been helping us shape our product development since day one.
