Esferasoft functions as our company’s IT department, so they’ve helped us with all of our website needs. To prevent frequent crashes, they redeveloped the backend; We’re running PHP on an Apache server, and we’re using the X-Cart database for an optimized e-commerce experience. They also redesigned the frontend and use WordPress and Joomla for content management. Other work includes custom development and development for existing platforms, including API integrations, mobile app development, CSS outsourcing, and open-source programming software like Moodle. Since the foundational code is complete, most of their efforts are spent enhancing the site’s UX.

What is the team composition?

We have a head developer who does most of the core work, in addition to a WordPress developer and a mobile app developer. They scale the size of the overall team depending on the scope of work.

What challenge were you trying to address with Esferasoft Solutions Pvt Ltd?

I needed someone to build my platform from scratch.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our platform with the core system is written in Python. The main functionality connects directly to the shop system on the vendor or designer side, as well as on the merchant or retailer side. The vendor can connect to our system via a shop system plugin and they can add products to our system. On the retail side, they can also connect via a plugin from their shop system to our system and add those vendor products to the online shop without having to wholesale buy them.

We acquire the payments from the retailer and forward them directly to the vendor. It’s a real-time solution for order handling as well as products and stock levels. We finished the first version of the software in fall last year, but they continue to work on more features.

What is the team composition?

I worked with a project manager and there was also one main developer I talked to.

We looked for a contractor on Upwork and had two or three respondents. We chose Esferasoft Solutions because of their coding, the programming language, and because they've done e-commerce solutions before.

We’ve had good feedback from our customers. We have a few high-profile clients, but only a select few. It’s not an open system; instead, it's by invitation only. It’s important that if the client encounters any problems or issues with the software, we can solve them as quickly as possible. We have a very direct connection to our clients, which means we need to have a direct connection to Esferasoft too. So far, the response time is very good and very quick, which has had a good impact on our bottom line.

How did Esferasoft Solutions Pvt Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

I discuss new and current milestones with the project manager. They’re based in India and we’re in Berlin, but the communication has been really good. If I text or call them, there’s always someone readily available. After having worked with them for more than a year now, the people I’m directly in touch with know the project well. It’s easy to communicate if there are any problems or requests from our side.

Since we had a very complex solution in mind, they needed to find a creative solution for some parts, which took a bit longer. In general, they’re good at adhering to deadlines.
