We had several discussions before signing a contract. They began by analyzing our spreadsheets and workflow. Their CTO James came up with a solution to help automate our tasks. We agreed with their proposed solution with minimal suggestions needed. They created a server-less solution consisting of S3, Cloudfront, Lambda, AuroraDB, Amazon Cognito, and SNS.

We mainly interfaced with James and Carolyn, a senior software engineer on their team. The team consisted of 2 senior software engineers, 1 front-end engineer, and 1 QA. James was the project manager and architect.

The end solution has saved us many hours per week on manual spreadsheet entry. It is also beneficial to our distributors since they can log in and see everything updated in real time.

Our project was broken down into 5 milestones where we had a meeting for each one before proceeding. We discussed over email, phone, and zoom meetings. Timelines were always met.

I am the CEO of an online education company. With COVID going on and seeing my friend's and my kids struggling working from home I knew something had to be done. So I started an online portal as a sort of "after-school" type of program to keep kids on track and answer questions outside of the classroom.

They developed a PHP stack for the web application with Laravel and React Native for the mobile app. We were given a project break down in 5 milestones with a down payment before they started their work. We mainly interfaced with their CTO who acts as an architect and project manager. We were told there was one designer, two back-end and mobile developers, and 1 QA engineer.

We have been able to onboard a few school districts and they have been pleased with the ease of use. Parents have given us good feedback and are overall happy with the applications and our services. We will work with Diverse Programmers again in the future when we are looking for additional features and updates.

Since most of our consultants are continuously on the move, we needed a solution that was feasible to continuously update and view requests from a mobile device. We also allow our clients to view the progress and the total amount of their investments. I believe a mobile application instills a level of trust with our clients.

We had multiple calls with James each lasting from 1-2 hours to try and nail down the details of the project and he decided to use React Native for the framework. The project was broken down into milestones, with a 20% down payment required upfront.

At each milestone we would review their progress before paying another 20% until completion. The infrastructure was built on AWS and since it's in the free tier, we actually have no associated costs at the moment with 200 users so far.

What was the team composition?

I only interfaced with James who acted as both the architect and project manager, but was made aware that we had 2 react native developers, 1 UX/UI designer, and 1 QA specialist.

We are happy with the success of the mobile application. Both in-house consultants and clients have been using it and have been giving us good feedback. It is mainly used on the go as intended and integrates with our website perfectly.

We were happy with the communication received from James and they kept up to their deadlines. We liked being able to view the application over screen shares so we could visually see the progress being made.

I was impressed with James from the start. We saw his case studies published on AWS and his recognition on the platform that led to our first conversation. I really like how James was willing to put in the time before signing a contract and going through the nuances.

He was very descriptive and patient in responding to every inquiry. The quality of the design, zero to low-cost architecture, and speed of the app are all impressive to us.

They provided instructions for the initial set up of the webcams and worked with a technician to get each location connected to AWS. They helped get our old pictures into AWS and synced it with Amazon Recognition. We now have cameras that can detect faces as they walk into our stores. We have gotten some matches even with face masks, but know our accuracy has been cut down with covid.

We have had some matches on past shoplifters and aggressors that we were able to ask to leave the store before they had a chance to do something again.

We needed a solution that would integrate with our existing ticketing system. We first had to establish a connection between AWS and our firewall using a VPN tunnel in a designated VPC.

They then built a PHP application on an EC2 instance that made API calls to our on premises ticketing server to pull out relevant user information or to create one if they did not already exist.

Then the user could select categories from the ticketing system and Diverse Programmers also made a FAQ JSON file that we could update with pre-canned answers. If the question was answered, the ticket closes. If the pre-canned answer did not satisfy the user, a chat is routed to our staff to answer the call manually.

To create a chat help desk on AWS that integrates with our on premises ticketing system.

We found them while researching Amazon Connect and the chat system. James was found on the home page of Amazon Connect for AWS.

They developed the application for asking the questions, created the FAQ, and customized Amazon Connect to open a chat window if the answer was not satisfactory. They helped with the tunnel between AWS through our firewall to on-premises and wrote the API calls to our existing ticketing system.

We do not have to field as many calls and we can see which pre-canned answers are working and which need more updates. This allows our staff to focus on other tasks instead of fielding questions all day.

They are skilled technically and were able to integrate with our existing systems.

The pop-ups in Salesforce that are tied with Amazon Connect and the dynamic outbound has helped in our contact rates, number of dials, and appointments.

Their main phone number isn’t always answered. But, if I sent an email to our contact, we would receive a response within an hour or two.

What were your goals for this project?

We had lots of paperwork of medical trials that we needed to scan in and found Diverse Programmers on Amazon. They published a case study he wrote using their services for another customer and we had similar requirements.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We found them on Amazon Web Services. James was the first to respond to our case and when we clicked on his profile, we realized Amazon had published a case study written by him with a customer on AWS that had the same problem as we did! His prices were reasonable, so without hesitation, we went with him.

They were able to extract the data with minimal errors and had alerted us that the change in data structures this would be the case. We had to manually scan after, but this saved us hundreds of man hours manually entering everything in.

What was the team composition?

I worked with James and after explaining what we wanted, he threw together a quick test within an hour to make sure we were happy with the results (a little over 99% accuracy) and we decided to move forward.

We knew approximately how long it would take to manually enter the data in and after weighing out the cost and use of employees time, we decided to save some money and time by going with Diverse Programmers. The manual adjustments for quality assurance were minimal in comparison.

We needed an updated phone system and a new website with an admin panel for handling inquires and document uploads on our site. This was also integrated with our CRM and Calyx Point for loan origination and uses InkIt for signatures.

I primarily worked with James, but we were assigned a small dedicated team that finished the initial project in about 2 and a half months.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Some of our repeat clients have commented on the new look of our website (last one was about 10 years old). The 1003 on our website, paired with the upload document portal and being integrated with our CRM and Calyx Point has saved us time and cut down on repeating entries and typos.

James broke the project down into milestones and followed up with us regularly and at each milestone before proceeding to the next.

I am impressed by their technical knowledge and expertise. James offered us several different routes based on time, budget, and other trade-offs which made us feel more comfortable and that we could save money on certain processes.

I don’t really have any complaints about Diverse Programmers. Maybe an answering services for the phones, but I always get a prompt response if I don’t get through to them and leave a message.
