Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the founder of Maker Town, the first mobile app in the nation that helps consumers discover local makers, their online stores, and their public events. The current region we feature is Northeast Ohio. Maker Town also presents local popup markets and business workshops to help makers generate more sales of their handmade goods.

For what projects/services did your company hire Digimid, and what were your goals?

The Maker Town website launched in late 2020 as a set of informational landing pages. The only commerce functions we deployed were for recurring subscriptions to our new mobile app and online registration for our business workshop. Six months later, we found that our popup markets were growing in popularity, yet our method for collecting payment from participating vendors had become a time-consuming process involving Quickbooks invoices and online links sent by email.

I knew I needed a more streamlined method for hundreds of makers to pay their booth fees on many different dates. After attempting to integrate an in-house solution into our website, I quickly realized a more qualified developer was needed.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

As fate would have it, I received an introductory email from the company's Business Development & Strategic Partnership Specialist right as I was at my wits end with this commerce challenge. When I researched the company online, I was happy to see they were based in Ohio, like me.

Once we began an email conversation, I learned that they weren't deterred by small projects and were well versed in working with startups. Even better to discover their estimate was appropriately priced for what I needed. Once we held our Zoom call shortly thereafter, I felt confident Digimid could be a helpful resource for me.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

What they suggested was a basic "shop" page featuring "products" for each of our market dates that could be added to a cart for checkout. The prices matched our booth rates and the total calculated dynamically, depending on which dates were added to the cart. This sounds so simple, but the previous in-house attempt wasn't intuitive like this. It offered only a long registration form and a static amount to be charged, which required resubmitting the form multiple times to book multiple dates.

What's nice about Digimid's solution is that it ensured the payments dumped right into my existing Stripe account, which already charged our monthly subscribers, so my accounting functions were immediately simplified. A key deliverable was that the interface needed to feel as familiar and seamless as other online purchasing experiences found across the web, and the visual elements of the products and checkout pages needed to mimic our brand's fonts, colors and styles already shown throughout the rest of the site.

There were four people who worked with me from start to finish. They were: Shehzad (CEO), Raheel (Business Development & Strategic Partnership Specialist), Ali (Digital Marketing/SEO and Lead Generation Manager), and Salman (Senior Web Developer).

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Both of our main objectives were met beautifully. The best part was, Digimid helped me keep my costs down by developing only the first product on my shop page. I was then empowered to update the rest of the page on my own, after they provided me with a PDF of basic steps for replicating and editing products on the backend of WordPress.

2021 was a year of proving out the Maker Town revenue model, which we did. In 2022, we'd like to scale the app to include more makers in Central and Southern Ohio. Having reliable commerce functions on our website was a critical step that now allows us to confidentially move forward.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The Digimid staff with whom I interacted were all super responsive and efficient. It was such a pleasure to see how they operate as a team with a flat hierarchy. When one person was offline for any reason, someone else in the group immediately jumped in to keep the ball moving. Honestly, they would have had my project completed within about 3 days, had it not been for me being an overextended founder who was slow to get back to them as needed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It was a pleasure to have my project treated with the same kind of respect that's usually reserved for bigger clients.

I think what impressed me the most, though, was that Digimid's parent company, Cinnova, offers additional support to startups. Although I wasn't aware of their Startup Partnership Program when I first invented the Maker Town app in 2020, I'm curious to hear how their mentoring works, now that we have recurring revenue from hundreds of makers in NE Ohio. I'm especially interested in putting Maker Town in front of a wider network of investors who see the growth potential, knowing there are 135 million other makers across the U.S.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not a single thing could have been done differently. I'm definitely going to hire these guys again -- not just for other updates to our website, but also for development guidance on new features I'd like to consider adding to the app. Thanks so much, Digimid and Cinnova!

I have my own benchmark for performance as someone who has been in the IT industry for about 30 years, and I rank Digimid near the top in terms of professionalism, expertise, delivery timeframe, and cost-effectiveness.

They work quite well as I’ve never had any issues with their delivery, budgeting, and timelines. We typically communicate through Zoom, phone, and email.

We’re impressed with the ease of communication we have with Digimid. It’s very easy to get in touch with them because they’re consistently responsive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything that’s lacking in the relationship.

I’m the VP of an RPA provider called Databound, and we cater to the hospital revenue cycle space.

We needed someone to rebrand our company and upgrade our web presence.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Digimid provided us with their branding and web development services. This included SEO improvement, HubSpot integration, and Google Analytics tracking.

They designed multiple of our iterations into a format that can be implemented into WordPress and began building and deploying pages thereafter.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

From a security and site availability perspective, they were able to mitigate attacks so we never really experienced any significant risks. We’ve also seen a consistent performance regarding our SEO and good conversion into our HubSpot.

Digimid performed very well as they met all our meetings, timelines, and were highly responsive throughout the engagement.

We were very impressed with their reliability. They were able to jump into any issue and identify solutions once we brought them up. They always got the work done and they were always willing to go above and beyond the initial scope to deliver good output.

I'm the owner and founder of LaunchToMarket, Inc. We are a technical and marketing consulting company that assists clients in launching new products, strategies and markets in the technology and eCommerce realm.

I have worked with Digimid as a partner on a variety of endeavors, bringing the team on to assist with several of my clients. The longest standing is an eCommerce website, which Digimid has developed, maintained and provided SEO and digital design services.

I had a previous relationship with Digimid as a customer and on a few other projects in which they had continually proven themselves to be excellent at their work and trustworthy as a partner.

The client had recently converted their website to a new Magento platform and website template and was experiencing tremendous technical challenges. The team first came in to stabilize the code and the platform. From there, the focus shifted to driving users and conversion through the website through marketing strategies, digital design and ongoing technical enhancements. The Digimid team has executed upgrades and feature enhancements seamlessly as the site has grown and is critical in the ongoing success.

The team consists of 4 primary resources with time shared between them based on the project's needs. The positions are the team lead, a digital marketing expert, a Magento expert and an infrastructure specialist.

Since 2015, the annual revenue from the website has increased over 60%.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Having worked with Digimid in various contents, the team is very adaptable to the needs of the specific project. They are readily available, easy to communicate, and fluent in the tools that make remote work more productive.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Digimid is accountable and truly cares about the success of its clients. If a mistake is made, it is corrected quickly. They strive for ongoing improvement.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Early in my working relationship with Digimid, I needed to encourage more active feedback and participation in strategy. Now they are a key partner in doing so. However, I think it is important for new clients of Digimid to set the environment to encourage their full participation to challenge ideas and strategies.

As a small business, I created our website several years ago. Unfortunately, we had limited resources, and the site was more of a landing page to reach the application. After meeting to discuss our goals, we received a handful of designs/themes for the site. Digimid was very responsive in making minor adjustments and worked diligently to finalize the design we wanted while updating other pages to create a cohesive website.

In total, we worked with 4 people including a Digital Media Project Manager, a Sr. Digital Marketing Analyst, a Sr. Web Designer, and a Digital Marketing Officer.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Digimid was very thorough and implemented a design that better represents us as an organization and creates a friendlier end-user experience. Site traffic has increased 50% in comparing the past 3 months from the previous. We continue to receive positive feedback regarding the new design.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project manager was very easy to communicate with and provided frequent updates. Our meetings were held virtually through Microsoft Teams and feedback was through email. We were pleased with the time frame of the project and the ability of Digimid to adhere to our schedule.

We were impressed with the website designs and new-user experience, but we are most please with the SEO. Digimid has provided us with a very positive experience.
