BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re a small non-profit organization that supports university students. We plan events and activities for advocacy and support in their academic studies. I’m the operations manager.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with DSC-IT?

We were engaging a freelance IT support person. However, we wanted a more robust team that could be more proactive and dynamic in solving our technical challenges.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They took over our organization’s managed IT services, and they helped move us to a cloud-based system. We had a couple of meetings with the director to explore what we wanted to achieve. 

What is the team composition? 

We’ve worked with around four people. 

How did you come to work with DSC-IT?

We did a lot of Googling. They seemed to have the ability to clearly understand cloud-based systems and support us in that. They had the right expertise to handle migration projects from start to finish. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $40,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2020, and our contract with them is for three years.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re more than happy with the engagement.

How did DSC-IT perform from a project management standpoint?

From a project management standpoint, they’re absolutely fantastic. They’ve kept us ip to date and been proactive. When we ask questions, they’re quick to get back to us and resolve any issues. 

We mostly communicate with them over the phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication skills are impressive. We speak with them almost every day, and it’s always easy to get ahold of them. 

They have a transparent pricing model. They break down line by line what each service costs. They’re flexible in finding solutions that are as cost-effective as possible, especially since we’re a nonprofit organization. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. However, it would be nice to get a follow-up email about the things we discuss in our meetings, so we can have everything in writing. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

Keep in contact and make yourself available. Don’t be afraid to ask questions when you don’t understand something.
