I’m the CEO and founder of a combination access control company specializing in locking hardware.

What challenge were you trying to address with DATA Web, Inc.?

We initially hired DATA Web, Inc. to create our website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They designed and developed our website and the main software to support our product from scratch. We provided them with documentation to start, and they oversee our entire product from a technical development standpoint. They offer maintenance and hosting services as well. 

DATA Web, Inc. has created two mobile applications for us. The first is an administrative app that is an access control system that allows users to enter a door using a phone. The app is for iOS and Android, and users can either send mobile credentials or decide and change who goes through the door and when they can do that. A user can be far away and still administrate the system from wherever they are. 

The second is a mobile credential app that allows users to go through doors; even if there are multiple doors in the area, the app will know which door is closest and will give the user access to open it as long as they have authorization. 

DATA Web, Inc. also works on firmware and has been helping us design products that work with our software products. They design brochures, develop our artwork, and have assisted us with branding and designing logos. 

What is the team composition?

We are in contact with Stephanie (Managing Director) and have direct contact with the developers as well. 

How did you come to work with DATA Web, Inc.?

I met them years ago in a different industry and decided to hire them later for this company when I started it. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested more than $2 million. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 1995, and our engagement is ongoing. We’ve completed a number of phases and projects with them over the years, and we plan on continuing the engagement. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were working with another company for our software development, but DATA Web, Inc. did such a good job for us that we hired them full-time and replaced the other company completely with them. We’ve continued to hire them over and over again, and they essentially act as our entire development group because they’re better than anyone else we’ve worked with. 

How did DATA Web, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a weekly meeting and use email and Slack for communication. We use a Gantt chart to track progress and where we're at. We’ve worked together for such a long time that we can count on them to give us proper answers and be honest about project timeframes. If there’s ever any delay in a project, they’re upfront about that with us, but for the most part, they’re on time with delivery. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They act like a partner for us because they’re so valuable. We trust them, have no questions about their integrity, and know they’re supportive of our company. DATA Web, Inc. is humble and team-oriented; we feel like we’ve found a diamond in the rough. We can’t say enough good things about them. We can’t speak highly enough about their work ethic and integrity. 

One of the most impressive things about DATA Web, Inc. is that they build firmware, which a lot of people have been unable to do. When we started with DATA Web, Inc., they didn’t build any kind of firmware, but they’ve learned, and we’ve been really impressed by their ability to develop the skill.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re 100% satisfied with them.

We don’t have any other advice besides giving them our highest recommendation.
