Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the managing director at Hive19, a content marketing agency specializing in high-quality link-building services. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Dan King Digital?

Our website had a clunky and old theme; it was poorly put together, slow, and performed badly. We needed someone to develop a nice-looking, fast, and high-performing website for us, which will be better and more beneficial to our business.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dan King Digital discussed how poorly our current website was performing and showed how they could improve it. They came up with a design, which we spent some time going back and forth, revising so it could be better aligned with our branding. We told them how we wanted the design, and we worked together for a few months to build the website. We came up with ideas for pages, solutions to challenges, and fantastic designs. We also came up with a blog.

They built the site on WordPress, and it’s already live. They are currently adding whole new sections and making tweaks as they go. 

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact was Dan (Owner), and he is in charge of development. I have also worked with two designers.

How did you come to work with Dan King Digital?

Dan and I are both Brighton-based and ended up seeing each other in the same circles. We talked about our different projects, and I found out he worked with some people I knew. He commented on our website, and we just took it from there.  

How much have you invested with them?

We have spent about $6,000–$7,000.  

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in early March 2021, and it’s ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We use Lighthouse to measure performance metrics, and through it, we found out that our new website performed 10 times better than the old site. The page load time has become four times faster as well. The site’s design looks more professional, and we’ve received positive feedback from our clients and prospects. In addition to all that, we’ve ranked higher for our targetted keywords. 

However, those improvements coincided with our other efforts — when Dan King Digital was doing the website overhaul, we conducted our own authority building, link building, and outreach campaigns.

How did Dan King Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Dan King Digital is very good at project management. They work quickly, and they give their feedback when they think something’s not correct. Our communication has been good. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Dan King Digital is very knowledgeable about website development, and they know what they’re talking about. They work hard, and they tell us what they think is the best way of doing something. We have often asked them to do a task, and if they feel it wouldn’t work, they figure out a better way to do it. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. They are pretty good — I have worked with many developers over the years, and this is one of the least painful projects I’ve done. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It’s best to start the project knowing exactly what you want, and if you don’t, you can have a conversation with Dan King Digital so they can guide you. It’s best if you can hand them a design and they implement it, instead of constantly tweaking and refining throughout the whole process. Have a conversation with them and understand what you want.
