I work in consulting, providing management consulting and executive leadership for nonprofits and charter schools. Previously, I served as the executive director of a charter school in New York City, where I oversaw operations and strategic initiatives.

What challenge were you trying to address with CTS?

We needed support for our IT manager, assistance with installing IT networks, and help with E-Rate compliance for our charter school. Our goal was to ensure reliable IT operations and compliance with complex regulatory requirements.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

CTS provided comprehensive IT support, including end-user support for all technology-related issues, network monitoring to prevent outages, server infrastructure management with patching and security, hardware and software deployment and procurement, and strategic technology planning through annual assessments and quarterly reviews.

What is the team composition?

There were between two and five team members from CTS assigned to our project.

How did you come to work with CTS?

We found them through a referral. We chose them due to their high ratings, they're close to our location, are a culture fit, offer good value for cost, and our company values aligned

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement with CTS began in October 2015 and is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We consistently upgraded our IT systems to meet the needs of a growing charter school, and almost never experienced service interruptions. Our internet capacity was upgraded nearly every year, enabling us to purchase and deploy all necessary software and hardware for the school.

How did CTS perform from a project management standpoint?

CTS was professional and delivered on time throughout the engagement. We communicate via emails and messages.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was particularly impressed by their understanding of the unique needs of charter schools and their expertise with the complex E-Rate program.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Overall, there is nothing I would suggest for improvement.

What challenge were you trying to address with CTS?

 We needed help managing our technology infrastructure, including our network, firewalls, switches, structured cabling, and phones.

What was the scope of their involvement?

 CTS provides managed services for our technology infrastructure. Their work includes ongoing monitoring, hardware lifecycle management, incident response, and configuration management. We also have an ongoing service contract with them for upgrading our phone system.

What is the team composition?

 Our internal team of 6 works with an account manager and team of experts including project managers, network admins, phone system admins.

How did you come to work with CTS?

 CTS was a referral from a previous colleague who started working with them. They applied to our request for proposal. We chose them because they focus on independent schools, so they know our needs. Additionally, they have staff in Brooklyn who can come on-site as needed.

What is the status of this engagement?

 We started working together in August 2025, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

 CTS has provided quality oversight of our network systems, which has been successful, including resolving some legacy issues. Our internal staff reports faster resolution times and appreciates the ability to call and get access to a roster of experts who respond swiftly. We no longer need to provide data about our assets because CTS has it all on file. Their billing and customer service are organized and punctual. Our large phone system upgrade is imminent and going well.

How did CTS perform from a project management standpoint?

 CTS has been punctual and collaborative. They listen and are capable. We communicate via videoconferences, a ticketing system, and in-person meetings. They're flexible.

What did you find most impressive about them?

 CTS's accessibility to collaborate in many forms, regular follow-ups, and customer service-oriented culture are impressive.
