Scope of work:

Everything we ran was on DigitalOcean, spread across a handful of separate instances that had quietly multiplied as our projects did. Nobody had stepped back to look at the whole thing. Crocopliers OÜ did. They went through how each project was deployed and resourced, where we were paying for compute we didn't use — and where we were actually short — and what the setup was costing us against the work it was really doing. Out of that came a consolidation and migration plan. And they didn't stop at the plan: they carried out the migration with us as well.

Key deliverables:

• Infrastructure audit — a full inventory of our DigitalOcean instances: what sat on each one, and how resources were allocated against real usage.
• Cost analysis — a clear breakdown of what we were spending, and where that money was going to idle or duplicated capacity.
• Consolidation plan — a recommendation to bring the workloads that genuinely need dedicated infrastructure onto one correctly sized server, instead of several fragmented ones.
• Platform migration recommendation — the projects that don't need dedicated servers were identified and proposed for a managed platform, Vercel.
• Implementation guidance — a practical walkthrough of the target architecture and the order to get there. AI Agents development to keep the implementation under control at every step.
• Migration support — they didn't hand over a document and leave. They were there for the move itself, which is the part that usually hurts. AI Agents development to keep the maintenance up and running.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Before the migration we were running 14 separate DigitalOcean droplets and paying about $750 a month for them. We're now on one consolidated server plus Vercel for the lighter projects, at roughly $490 a month — around a 35% cut, and it happened with no user-facing downtime. The part I didn't expect: deploys stopped being a task. Push to main, it's live, with a preview URL per branch, so I'd been treating manual deploys as a cost of doing business. The trade-off is real, though: consolidating onto one server means one point of failure where there used to be fourteen, and Vercel's usage-based billing means my floor is lower but my ceiling isn't fixed. Worth it at my scale, but it's important to keep evaluating while your products scale and evolve.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Professional from start to finish, and easy to work with — which for me came down to two things. The documentation. Everything they handed over was written to be read by someone who hadn't been in the room. No half-finished notes, no knowledge that only lived in someone's head. We could come back to it weeks later and it still made sense. And the answers. We asked a lot of questions, some of them not very well framed, because at the start we didn't fully know what we were looking at. Every one came back with a clear answer — not a hedge, not a "well, it depends". That's rarer than it should be. Deliverables arrived as agreed and nothing had to be chased.

Crocopliers OU team has a lot of interesting products and services in place. I would love to see more coming live soon. It will help a lot smaller and micro companies to evolve and run their backend in the most efficient way using actual tooling.
