We needed support to create an interactive website from scratch.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Create Ape has developed an interactive website with a login feature. The end users of the website are hospital systems, community-based organizations, and state health departments. The goal of the website is to help these users increase their business acumen around a specific program: the National Diabetes Prevention Program.

Additionally, Create Ape has provided maintenance and hosting services for the website. The team has developed the source code in-house and utilized some plugins. They’ve also worked on the website’s design and UX.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with two project managers from Create Ape. We’ve also worked with a developer, but we haven’t connected with them that often.

How did you come to work with Create Ape?

We had three competitive bids for this project, including Create Ape and two other companies. We found the three companies through our headquarters’ communications department, which gave us the names of three vendors they had worked with previously.

We chose Create Ape because they had the most dedication to the project. Their bid was very specific, detailed, and organized. Additionally, Create Ape’s CEO joined the exploratory call, which gave us confidence that they would ensure we had the best match for the team dedicated to our project. The team also showed us a couple of their projects and offered to connect us with their references.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $300,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Create Ape in April 2023, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Create Ape has built five individual tools on the website. There’s been a lot of positive feedback from the end users and our company. Additionally, the funders of the project are very pleased with the tools.

How did Create Ape perform from a project management standpoint?

Create Ape’s project management is the best I’ve ever experienced. They’re very organized and communicative. The team keeps everything organized so we can see the status of the project. Create Ape has given us realistic timelines and projections for when each phase of the process will be complete. The only time the project has been delayed is when we’ve asked for additional features or if we’ve been delayed in getting them something. We’ve never gone over budget with them.

We use ClickUp as a project management tool, and we have weekly meetings on Google Meet. We also communicate via email and use Loom videos to show us what they’re looking at. We use Figma as a shared space to look at designs and make comments.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Create Ape’s project management is impressive. We’ve worked with two project managers, and both have been exceptional. They have knowledge of coding, software, and website building. Additionally, they’re organized and communicative. I’ve never emailed them and not gotten a response within a couple of hours — they’re very dedicated to the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything that could make our workflow better.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Come in with subject matter expertise and knowledge of what you want to build. Create Ape can build anything you want, but it’s better if you know what you want to do. The team has helped us discern what features are worth spending money on. They’re very encouraging and engaging in focus groups with our end users.

CreateApe helped us redesign our Hospital Staff Scheduling software from the ground up. They began with in-depth research, including stakeholder and user interviews, competitor analysis, proto personas, stylescape exploration, and a sitemap to structure key features. From there, they delivered a full set of UX/UI designs in Figma, including wireframes and high-fidelity designs for both our platform and the scheduling app. Their work covered every screen and design pattern, as well as major user flow like the shift swap process.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The new designs significantly improved the usability and visual consistency of our software.

Internally, our team was able to brainstorm and implement features much more efficiently thanks to the clear UX/UI components and structure. We also leanred a lot from CreateApe's professional design process and adopted parts of it in our day-to-day work on other projects.

Externally, the implementation of the new designs is still in progress, but early feedback from pilot users has been very positive, especially around improved look-and-feel and clarity of workflows.

CreateApe was very organized and responsive throughout the project. They kept us updated with weekly online meeting check-ins and more frequent email updates. They were also super flexible, adapting quickly and giving thoughtful feedback whenever we had questions or needed to shift priorities. As we shared a lot of input during the process, they adjusted their timeline accordingly and took the time to carefully address each point. We really appreciated how collaborative and thorough they were!

Are there any areas for improvement or something Create Ape could have done differently?

One area for improvement would be ensuring more consistency across the numerous pages of our software. Since our project involves a large number of pages and many different designers working on it, we occasionally found that certain buttons and design patterns weren’t aligned. A more standardized approach across all pages and designers would have helped create a smoother and more cohesive user experience.

We had no issues with communication and tracking project progress, which is critical. So nothing really stands out as an issue.

We needed help with web and graphic design because we wanted to create a better UX for our customers.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Create Ape helped us design our website and the graphics needed. The process was simple: We just met with them and went through the process of creating the product. The team used Figma to create these designs. The website included a home page, a modified and restructured header and footer, and a details page. After delivering the final designs, the team walked me through the implementation options.

Initially, we set up an introductory call with the creatives helping with the project and outlined our expectations. After the call, we sent out corresponding materials and resources to help them execute the project. I’m the CTO of Relivable. Our company is figuring out how to relive memories. To achieve that, we capture content in a 360-degree format and provide users with an immersive way for them to relive those moments. We've created a platform where users can see those moments and the rest of the content we capture and curate for them.

What challenge were you trying to address with Create Ape?

Our biggest challenge was creating an experience that could be consistent between web, mobile, and VR devices. Given that we're capturing 360-degree content, we wanted a consistent and user-friendly experience to see that content in any device.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Create Ape was responsible for creating the UI/UX of our platform. Initially, we provided them with some initial designs as a reference. However, we weren't happy with those designs, so we told them not to use them for their work. The team used Figma to create the new designs.

What is the team composition?

We worked with Rolfi (UI/UX Designer), an engineering lead, a product lead, and Sean (Product & Project Manager). The four of them were always on our calls.

How did you come to work with Create Ape?

I'm part of the Fractionals United network. Through that network, I met Crete Ape's CEO.

We started working together in October 2023, and we concluded the project in January 2024. Still, most of the work was already done by December 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We absolutely loved working with Create Ape. The output was absolutely phenomenal. Since the project concluded, we've used their designs to build our applications. We've also shown the UI/UX to our customers and gotten positive feedback — everyone loves the UX.

I would like to congratulate Create Ape for coming up with a design that works for us. We're very happy with it, and our customers appreciate it as well. Overall, the output met our expectations.

How did Create Ape perform from a project management standpoint?

Create Ape definitely delivered the project on time and on budget. Whenever there were delays, they were always communicated ahead of time and explained. From a project management standpoint, we always knew where we were, and Create Ape always knew and understood our expectations. For the most part, they met all our expectations.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I would like to give a shout-out to Rolfi and Sean. Rolfi was absolutely amazing, and Sean was great as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Although Create Ape didn't have experience in the field we were looking for, they did great research. Moreover, they created a forward-looking UX that was in line with the current technology standards, as opposed to what someone else without experience would have created. In addition to that, Create App did a great job ensuring we were on track and aware of things, and they delivered on time.

Therefore, they offered a great package overall; they delivered what we wanted on time and within budget. Overall, we were very happy with what they did, and we'll hire them again for the next phase of the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We worked very well together, so I can't think of anything Create Ape could have improved on. They didn't have a lot of VR experience, but they decided to dive right into a research process and came up with a UX that worked well for us. Overall, they're doing the right things, so they should continue doing them.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Give them control and ownership of the UX and let them identify and understand the user needs. We provided them with the market research we had done, and they took all of that to build the UX. Therefore, you should also provide them with information. If you haven't done research on your own, let them help you with the user research so that they can build a UX that works for your customers.

We initially wanted a modern application design for our desktop and mobile versions.

We started with Create Ape working on a UX design for our consumer application. Since then, we’ve expanded our engagement with them to look at our enterprise and general marketing, like infographics and slide decks.

Our first project was with one of the designers; we met every day. They used Figma and had a keen understanding of our domain. They quickly came up to speed and delivered multiple screens per week. We handled the revisions and got those designs over to our engineering team.

Additionally, Zachary and Alessandro are easy to work with. They’re flexible and open; it honestly feels more like a partnership than a traditional vendor relationship. They’re just great people to work with.

No, they’ve been so impressive I can’t think of anything.

You don’t have to do much work to get high-quality work out of Create Ape. If you give them what they need to succeed, they’ll succeed.
