Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the CEO of eMude Technologias Cidade. It is a Brazilian company that focuses on citizen participation regarding public services. Whenever a citizen feels that some public service is not being provided effectively, they can complain through our app. They can complain about security, health, transportation, and education.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Code Khadi?

I faced a small problem that Code Khadi resolved for me. I am an economist that works in public policy. I decided to have a mobile app built to help relieve some concerns people have regarding public issues.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed the code for the app for iOS and Android. Code Khadi told me it would take two or three weeks to develop. Whenever I didn't understand something, we would have a meeting to discuss it further. It works flawlessly. When they gave me the code they wrote, there were only one or two things that we needed to change.

How did you come to work with Code Khadi?

I contacted Code Khadi and decided to work with them.

How much have you invested with Code Khadi?

The app was under $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We are still working with them. We started in January of this year.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I have received feedback from both our users and other developers. Our app looks really clean and runs smoothly. I have recommended Code Khadi to other friends who are developing an app.

How did Code Khadi perform from a project management standpoint?

They [Code Khadi] are very good at developing and have managed to be very organized. That’s really important for me because I’ve tried some developers in Brazil who were really a headache. They always provide me a deadline that they consistently meet. Whenever there are any changes that need to be made, they make them quickly.

What did you find most impressive about Code Khadi?

I have two apps: one in iOS and one in Android. Both are working very well. They’ve shown me the best way to go about developing these apps. As I mentioned earlier, they were really professional, especially when we had any issues regarding payment.

Are there any areas Code Khadi could improve?

I’m very happy with them.

InstaHelp is a security startup here in Brazil. We are developing applications to help improve people’s security in Brazil because there are some public security issues. The apps will help people better manage their security. We’ve just changed our name because there was another company using the name Ehelp. I am one of the two founders and partners.

What challenge were you trying to address with Code Khadi?

We had designed the applications and needed someone to do the coding.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were responsible for coding our first application, testing it, and helping us finish the development. We started out developing an iOS version. Currently, we are talking to investors. Once we get our product funded, we are going to develop another application. They will code and test that app as well.

How did you come to work with Code Khadi?

My partner and co-founder made that decision. We had talked to several people looking for coders, and someone gave us a very positive reference to Code Khadi, so we started to work with them. I think my partner may have worked with them before. We have a second application in mind, which they will also work on.

How much have you invested with Code Khadi?

We have spent something less than $10,000 working with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We are trying to find some investors. Once we have secured funding, we will continue developing the apps.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work or the impact of the engagement?

They have done good work. Everything I asked them to do, they did. They were always able to make small adjustments. They showed a lot of patience in working on the app and they worked really well. It was a good experience. I do intend to keep working with them. They were very good about listening and delivering on the deadline we scheduled.

What did you find most impressive about Code Khadi?

My general experience has not been very good with other coders. We had a lot of concerns with the other companies and coders we had tried. With Code Khadi, everything worked fine. It was easy to order the developments that we needed, and they were very good at trying to understand what we were after. They [Code Khadi] stayed on top of everything and delivered work on time. It was really a good experience working with them.

Are there any areas Code Khadi could improve?

Not really. As soon as I solve my investment issues, I will start working with them again.

Our company is an insurance agency. I am the Head of Software Development.

What challenge were you trying to address with Code Khadi?

We were trying to automate our insurance sales process in terms of calculating offers. As I said, we are an insurance agency so we sell policies from numerous insurance providers. It was important that when our sales agents go and meet clients, that they are able to offer clients a comprehensive price comparison service. That is what we tried to innovate. We made it as easy as possible for the sales agent in being able to integrate as much data as we could.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We needed to have a price comparison iOS app developed. We didn’t have anyone in the company who could develop the app, so we talked to Code Khadi and involved them because they had experience in that. Additionally, we needed someone who had experience with user interfaces in order to develop aesthetically pleasing applications. They showed that they had that. We had already developed the design, user requirements, and parameters that we needed addressed. We gave that to Code Khadi and they were able to implement it the way that we needed it done.

How did you come to work with Code Khadi?

I found them on Upwork. They had very good reviews. We scheduled a call and we had our first discussion, and it went very well. I offered five or six developers a challenge. We told them we would go with the person who could successfully accomplish that challenge. Code Khadi was able to do that, so we went with them.

How much have you invested with Code Khadi?

It was under $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We are currently working with them. It has been an ongoing relationship since May of 2015.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We’ve been able to speed up the sales process. We probably used to take 2 ½ hours, and half an hour was spent on filling in the contract, getting the data, and getting clients to sign all the paperwork. It’s decreased the consultation period from 2 ½ hours to around an hour.

How did Code Khadi perform from a project management standpoint?

They [Code Khadi] performed very well and they’re always on time. They’re always on budget and they’re very clear on their limitations and capabilities.

What did you find most impressive about Code Khadi?

Three things stand out. They are a professional company that works in the field, and they know how to relate to clients. They are also able to understand what the client needs. The second thing is that they’re available. Anything that happens, even if it’s outside of their working hours, they will get back to you and tell you when they’ll be able to address the issue. They’re very reliable when it comes to communication. Thirdly, when you propose something to them, they don’t just sit back and listen. They also offer their feedback and ask questions.

Are there any areas Code Khadi could improve?

They do face limitations like any other company. There are certain limitations in terms of expertise. I feel that is something they could improve on.
