I am a research professor at Australian Catholic University. I conduct research on how to promote well-being and life effectiveness.

For what projects/services did your company hire Clever Brainz?

I hired Clever Brainz to build an app on both android and IOS. The app delivers text messaging interventions, online measures, online feedback, and online resources (in the form of videos and audio).

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted an app that could deliver messages and other content, whilst also collecting user data. The idea is that the app supplements/complements coaching/clinical interventions

How did you select Clever Brainz?

I interviewed a number of programmers and she seemed best qualified for the project.

Once we had the concept, we gradually developed it in an interactive fashion, which each component being implemented and systematically tested

It was just myself and the programmer.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Clever Brainz is a top programmer. She has developed an app that was reliable and easy to use.

We had to make many changes, and she was always responsive to feedback and non-defensive, and often did not charge me for unexpected changes.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Excellent

What did you find most impressive about this company?

She has a strong knowledge of many platforms and multiple ways to do things.

She spontaneously found a way to implement our app, that would keep ongoing costs at a minimum, which was key to our goal of widespread dissemination of the app.

I’m the CEO of an organization called July, but the company name is Password Works Now.

What challenge were you trying to address with Clever Brainz?

We’ve worked with Clever Brainz on a few projects focused on development. For this specific project, we tasked them with creating our facial recognition app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Clever Brainz created a web app that let users use any smartphone to access their own phone’s information. The solution leveraged AI facial recognition technology along with an email login so that users didn’t have to remember a password.

For example, if your phone battery dies and leaves you stranded, you could use someone else’s phone to log into our app through Google Chrome. Once in, you could access all of your phone contacts, credit card information, and files such as videos or pictures. 

You could also use the app to call a ride home through your own Uber or Lyft accounts rather than relying on someone else. You would then log out after accessing whatever information they needed, which would prevent the phone owner from accessing your data.

What is the team composition? 

There was a team behind the project led by one person. He worked directly with me as our main point of contact.

How did you come to work with Clever Brainz?

I heard about them first on Upwork and have collaborated with them on all of my development projects since. I’ve done about 10 projects in total.

How much have you invested with them?

It was about $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

This project lasted from July–September 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I was happy with the quality of work. They took the idea that I had and created a PowerPoint deck to show what I basically wanted it to look like. From there, they just designed it perfectly. They figured out how to get the solution to work with facial recognition, which was really hard to do, and they got it to work on web browsers. We realized that it wouldn’t work well on Safari, so they made it more reliable on Chrome.

How did Clever Brainz perform from a project management standpoint?

Clever Brainz delivered everything on time — they basically didn’t sleep. It was helpful how efficiently and effectively they worked.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We came in under budget, and I was impressed with the hours that they’d worked. This could have easily been a $100,000 project that took a year to do, but they finished it in two months because they worked around the clock.

Their skills are also the best. I’ve shown their work to other engineers who worked at top companies like Google, Amazon, and Facebook, and they were just blown away by the solutions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should increase their prices. People would’ve easily paid $200 an hour for the quality of the engineering they produced, so they definitely did my project at an unbelievable rate.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re looking to go with someone else, reach out to me. I’ll tell you why you should go with Clever Brainz instead because they’re the best.

I was misled I was told I was getting the person I hired to do the job but turns out Erica offshored it to these out-of-date developers in India. The React code is so poorly done and outdated that I have to pay someone to redo the job which will cost thousands.

How did Clever Brainz address the challenges that arose?

When I reached out to Erica, about my disappointment via email there was no reply. DO NOT USE this company unless you want sloppy work you'll have to fix later.
