What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They provide a weekly output of the hours worked toward certain goals. I can track what they’ve completed and test each build they send to me for bugs. For the most part, if I find a few bugs and the app isn’t crashing, that’s a major improvement over our previous situation. Anecdotally, we’ve seen big improvements to our product with them on board.

They set the project up in Jira, which allowed me to follow and track their progress, plans, and recommendations. I always knew what was being prioritized this way. They kept our budget restrictions in mind, working with me to schedule our must-haves into the scope. Their team generally tracks well on timeline estimates but could consider our budget a bit more proactively.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were very transparent in their processes and open to feedback whenever we have it. The customer service element of the relationship has been helpful. If I’m having issues, I’m able to speak freely with the manager to ensure that we’re on the same page. Even though we’re a small firm, they make us feel like an important client. They’re very quick to respond to us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I generally have to remind our manager to ensure that our budget is completely accounted for in the build. If they could track scope, schedule, and budget, that would be helpful. Otherwise, they handle our requirements and timelines well.

Set expectations up front and take time with their team to ensure that they understand your mission. To get the most out of their team, make sure you’re providing that information from the start. Otherwise, I recommend working with them.

We are an entertainment company looking to create and produce short-films, movies, videos, and spoofs. We are looking to expand and make a name for ourselves in this industry. As far as casting is concerned, posting ads in print media and other online platforms doesn’t create awareness about such opportunities. Moreover, the casting process involves traveling to distant cities to participate in the auditions. We wanted to eliminate these bottlenecks. Our talent seekers should be able to post online ads in the exclusive mobile app and also launch vote-based contests where aspiring artists can showcase their acting skills and win roles.

We shortlisted Brainvire for our project after going through many reviews on Clutch and other rating platforms. We saw that this company had more than 100 5-star ratings. In most of the reviews, people had talked about Brainvire’s consultative approach and we were looking for exactly the same. All of these things made our decision easier.

Describe the project in detail.

I’ll talk about the app’s features. The mobile app has a premium section reserved for the most talented artists. They get access to a host of exclusive benefits after showcasing their skills. The communication between artists and the production house will be through a proper channel and moderated by an admin. Casting directors have to get in touch with the admin to initiate the process of hiring new talent. This ensures that a transparent and secure screening process is followed at all times.

What was the team composition?

I was constantly interacting with their Business Analysts (BAs as they call them) and they were the point of contact. On some occasions, I also spoke with their Team Leaders and developers from the Android and iOS teams.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The app has increased the number of videos we have screened. To date, we have posted more than 5000 videos and the number is increasing continuously. Also, many artists from distant places have auditioned for roles and got what they deserve. This, according to me, is a major success for us.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Brainvire’s team was startup-friendly. I was not aware of any latest technologies used to create such apps. Their consultants worked closely with my team and ideated the concept from start to finish.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

As I mentioned before, they are the best people to guide enthusiastic entrepreneurs like me who come from a non-technical background. They go the extra mile to explain the pros and cons of different technologies. I also liked their support team.

Are there any areas for improvement?

They over deliver at times and need to slow down a bit. For a person like me, it’s not easy to process so much information in one go. But this seems to be an advantage for the bigger companies.

Our company is Bay Alarm Medical, and we provide medical alert services to seniors for fall detection and health monitoring, as well as providing a number of emergency services that seniors might need. I am the president of the company.

Our business is completely based in e-commerce, so we handle cards online through salesforce as well as our ERP CRM system. The biggest challenge is that we have very complicated structures for providing customer support, and we wanted to try and cut down on some of the time and monetary costs associated with that.

What was the scope of their involvement?

What Brainvire Infotech is doing for us right now is completely redesigning our Magento e-commerce cart to make it more usable on the frontend and flexible on the backend. That will allow our internal systems administrators to update things, change prices, and add and remove products in ways that are much less complicated than with our current system.

On top of that, we decided to switch to Odoo, which is again an opensource and a more flexible platform in terms of the workflow for supporting customers, handling customer accounts, and making changes and things like that.

We had one main point of contact who was our project manager from Brainvire Infotech, and he managed two separate teams, one for the ERP and the other for Magento. Each of those teams had a specific lead engineer who would handle a lot of our technical questions and oversee anywhere from 5-10 developers and QA personnel.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The success of the project for us has been two pronged. One aspect that I look at in my role is the savings from the work, which for us is expected to save more than the cost of the project itself within less than a year.

On top of that, we have dramatically reduced the time it takes to support any given customer and are targeting a reduction to half the time we currently spend. In our preliminary demos and testing we think that we will hit that target, which is really satisfying for us.

They have been onboard with us and flexible with changing requirements since day one. Over the past few months we’ve been meeting with them almost every day, going through an agile type of environment and demoing various modules that they are working on as we go. What did you find most impressive about them?

One of the biggest things I like about this time as compared to some other vendors I have worked with in the past is the proactiveness with which they deal with things. The fact that they are always ready to go and jump into a new aspect of the project has really stood out to me.

I don’t have any complaints about their services at all. If there’s one thing they could do to improve it might be to spend a little more time trying to understand our business and how we operate, but that hasn’t been a detriment to the project by any means.

One thing I learned through this engagement is how important it is to be extremely clear in your requirements and explaining exactly what you want. Because we are a small company and had very tight timelines, having all of the details nailed down helped us to really stick to those timelines.

There were a few bumps in the beginning as you tend to find with any outsourcing project, but we have reached a point where through clear communication we are able to achieve all of our goals with nearly 100% accuracy. They have helped us to build out a significant number of features for our platform which have been very helpful in expanding our existing business.

Their project management style is quite efficient, from understanding the initial requirements down to executing the features one by one. Their methodology is agile, and we haven’t had any problems in completing things on time and staying on schedule.

They are consistently very flexible in modifying or changing requirements as we make amendments to our initial plans. Their whole team and especially their CEO has been very supportive of me and our end goals, which we really appreciate.

They do a better job with the development than with the design, but that has not been a big problem since we have our own in-house design as well. Other than that, they really have been a 10 out of 10.

As long as you are clear on your requirements, you are guaranteed to get something you like.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed an iOS and Android native app. They also host the platform on Azure. They are also helping us integrate the local APIs that follow local restrictions.

The previous company we worked with didn’t implement the code properly and Brainvire Infotech Inc found a lot of vulnerabilities, so they fixed all of those issues.

There are 5–6 people working on the current project, and we’ve worked with a business analyst.

We were working with another developer, but we decided to change providers because we weren’t satisfied with their services. I checked online and found that Brainvire Infotech Inc has decent Clutch reviews. They’ve also worked with many Arab partners, so we decided to give it a try.

We liked their response so we decided to switch and move ahead with them. They are slightly on the pricier side but the services they provide are quite good. As a customer, our interaction was also very nice.

It has had a drastic impact on our codebase. The quality of code has been improved and reusable functions have been implemented. The website redesign is in progress and new functionalities are being added. They’ve done a reasonably good job.

We use Slack as well as GitHub. They maintain the bug tracking and daily reports in Jira. The tickets are done properly and accurately. The only thing is that they don’t push the code on time or maintain a Git-flow.

The project lead is a really nice person. He has been really transparent and has helped a lot.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’ve missed some of the QA issues. I’d also appreciate a reduction in price, but other than that I would say they provide a really good service.

You need to get hold of the project lead and constantly communicate with him to get the most out of Brainvire Infotech Inc.

I am the co-founder of a company called My HealthSight, and our concept is to create a portal for genetic testing and health insights for consumers. We’re starting with a carrier screening test and are looking to add more and more tests down the road.

We were looking for a partner to help connect us to all of our different clinical partners, including labs and physician networks. That platform needed to have a HIPPA compliant and accessible backend for our website.

They focused on enabling the backend connections of the site in order to help information flow to our clinical partners. It can be a really significant challenge to communicate that information seamlessly, make sure it’s accurate, and protect patient privacy at the same time. 

Brainvire Infotech developed the entire backend system in addition to all of our standard e-commerce and customer management functionality. Most of that was built on WordPress using AWS, but there were a lot of customizations, protections, and add-ons on top of those frameworks.

Their understanding of what we needed from the beginning as well as the quality of their work and the timeline of the implementation have all been spectacular so far. I thought we would be finished ahead of where we are now, but the delays are not because of problems on their side. They establish confidence with us in every meeting we have about their timelines and the quality of the work we will receive in the end.

We use JIRA to keep track of projects, as well as email, weekly calls, and followups to make sure everyone is on the same page. The level of communication has been perfect, and I’ve never felt like the distance between our physical offices even comes into play.

They are very good at understanding what your core goals are. As long as you communicate your understanding of those and how those change, they are able to figure out how all of those fit and work together, as well as to provide insight and logic around how to get there.

The only slight hiccup we’ve had was in developing a clear understanding of the project deliverables at the very beginning, but that didn’t cause us any major problems down the line. We were able to resolve and move past that, but providing a little more clarity on what is entailed in the initial scope of work is always helpful.

Having dealt with many software vendors, it’s great to have the ability built into our arrangement to do customizations without having to conduct a really rigorous process or pay additional fees for every little change. 

The nature of our business is such that we have to make a number of adjustments or tweaks all the time, and they’ve been very responsive and effective at delivering those results for us.

How did Brainvire Infotech perform from a project management standpoint?

They come to visit when they have to do more complex work that requires a lot more interaction. That arrangement has helped significantly when it was necessary, but otherwise, we take advantage of tools such as Skype and group web platforms that allow us to show and discuss issues, concerns, or new features.

As partners, they are incredibly attentive and committed to the success of the project. They check in on us to make sure we always have what we need instead of requiring us to come to them, and that’s really refreshing.

The only thing I can think of that would help is a better understanding of our business niche, but since we are such a specific industry in that regard I don’t think that would present much difficulty for other companies.

We have a product selection tool that uses engineered calculations that interprets a customer’s needs depending on inputs. That’s unique to our site, so it was essential that it was translated correctly in Magento 2. They also added new functionalities and features to make the site more modern. On a regular basis, we’re working with about six individuals. They’ve been able to scale up or scale down as needed. We have one main point of contact that acts as a project manager. I typically interface with our project manager and the development team. We can work directly with their teams if needed.

We met them at an e-commerce conference. Our partner at the time wasn’t the most flexible, so we engaged a few other vendors for the role. They seemed to be our most flexible option. Other companies wanted total control over development decisions, but they seemed more equipped to collaborate.

While the product selector portion of the project was very complex, they completed the task in record time. It took only about a month to get to testing, so that was a pretty big achievement. The quality of the product is very high, with a few bugs. We can tell that they thoroughly test it before sending it over to us.

They’re responsive to communication through Jira. Tasks are always done on time. We also have weekly calls, which are very helpful. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve offered unique flexibility compared to providers that we’ve worked with in the past. They can tackle any challenge, even if it involves adapting to changing scope. Work increases and decreases, but they’re always able to accommodate our needs. Their flexibility gives them a leg up on other vendors.

Sometimes communication can be an issue with offshore teams, but we make sure to heavily user Jira to track projects.

With any offshore team, it’s important to prioritize communication between the different time zones. They’ve been accommodating, but it’s still important to use a project management tool to make things seamless. Set a schedule to meet your goals before starting out on the project.

We’ve been creating an app for investors and a personal website for the chairman of the company.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The application will allow investors to look at their investments on a handheld device. They can see what’s coming within in the company or what previous investments they’ve had. Everything is at their fingertips. This also provides them with quarterly reports and any other reporting that they need. Brainvire Infotech Inc has been the main developer that has created this app for us. They’ve worked side-by-side with me personally.

Their team has worked out the logistics behind the app and ensured investors can view vital information accurately displayed in a clear and aesthetically-pleasing way. They’ve also been working with our chairman’s personal website, helping him to spread the vision of the company. There’s also been some content writing and video editing involved.

I’ve spoken to 3–4 people for the app development project. There are more staffers working on the backend and behind the scenes that I don’t know about. With the website, there are six people on the team. There is some overlap there.

I think they’re a very innovative company. They have strong minds on their team. When we’ve come up with an idea of how to do something, they often have a solution or have an improved idea. It’s a continuously growing quality.

I’ve wanted to use email less often. We wanted to minimize what gets lost in email communication. That’s why I applaud their use of Jira.

Working with them is great, but it requires patience at the beginning. If you expect something to be done quickly, they put a lot of dedication and importance, so they’re not going to give you a product immediately.

The quality of the work is very high because their team is knowledgeable about the technical and business processes of our work. We appreciated being able to work with an account manager who understands the business process.

With other providers, we’ve ended up with exclusively developers, who can’t always bring in that business understanding. Our project manager has been able to communicate technical information to us effectively, making the process more streamlined.

In my time working with development companies, I’ve never had a more attentive salesperson. They continuously check in with us to make sure we’re doing well, asking for feedback on their work. I really appreciate that attention to detail. That’s pretty rare in this business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes our different time zones can be a bit of a challenge, but they’ve been more than accommodating.

It’s important to know exactly what you want and what your expectations are. If you have all of that laid out, you should be good to go.
