On the customer facing side, I don't really know what they could've done better. Their communication was top notch (daily videos on progress as we were on such a short timeline) and the work they produced was even better than what we had asked for.

The transition from branding to web design was smooth. The web team took the design and messaging work from the design team to create a rough draft of my website. We then met over several weeks to complete the build.

We have had a ton more sales calls on the calendar since the launch of the website.

We had weekly touch-base meetings and communicated via email. The team always sent emails ahead of meetings to show what we were going to cover. They were extremely timely and delivered everything ahead of when they promised.

They gave us a professional and visually appealing website and trained me on how to edit the whole thing. They exceeded all timeline expectations and got us our assets ahead of time because we had an event on the horizon.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Big Red Jelly created our color palette, logo, brand book, and website. We started with the branding process, where I shared my ideas for our messaging and visuals and provided some examples of things I’d seen online. Then, the team presented various images and narrowed down my preferences to determine clear and organized brand guidelines. We went through 2–3 versions of revisions before the team created the final logo and color palette. 

We used a similar process for the website. First, I shared some ideas, sample websites, and content with the team. Then, they designed and developed our website from scratch using WordPress and other plugins. We purchased our domain directly through Big Red Jelly, and they helped with the organization, layout, and flow of the website.

The website serves two purposes: to advertise our services and educate users about economic investment policies to help them invest and manage their money. It combines the themes of professional services and educational websites. We plan to continue working with Big Red Jelly in the future to make improvements and updates to the site.

Ashton (Director of Business Development) was our initial point of contact. However, we worked with Naomi (Brand & Build Strategist) on web design and development, Lyndsie (Brand Director & Build Strategist), who helped us with branding, and Bethany (Brand Build & PR Strategist).

We invested $2,500 CAD (approximately $1,800 USD) for the branding, $2,500 CAD (approximately $1,800 USD) for the website, and additional domain costs. In total, we spent about $6,800 CAD (approximately $5,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Big Red Jelly from October 2022–January 2023. The branding took five weeks, and the website took five weeks.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We haven’t implemented Big Red Jelly’s efforts yet, so I don’t have any metrics to share. However, they delivered high-quality work and handled all the website development components. They brought significant value to the project and shared innovative ideas I never would’ve thought of. I’m glad we decided to engage them because they’re experts. 

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

Big Red Jelly was a very organized, timely partner. They followed a straightforward process, making it clear they’d completed similar projects in the past. Communicating with them was easy, and I could always reach out with any branding or website questions. 

They worked in five-week spans, holding us accountable for delivering what we needed. We communicated weekly via email and collaborated via Google Workspace and other Microsoft tools.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed with Big Red Jelly’s value proposition; they balanced effective results with fair costs. Additionally, I was impressed by their high level of skill and experience.

I have no complaints; they worked out great.

Due to the nature of time-based agreements, I would advise you to approach the project with a clear idea of what you want to accomplish. Be prepared to share materials, content, and ideas so Big Red Jelly can do their best to help you within the allotted time.

We hired them to put together our website. Initially, I tried to build my own website using Wix. However, I wanted my website to look more official, so I decided that we needed professional help.

Big Red Jelly has designed our logo and is organizing and building our e-commerce platform. In the beginning, they led interviews to discuss our goals and ideas. They took note and came up with proposals. I gave them our name and color scheme. From there, they gave me different logo design variations, we discussed our feedback back and forth, and then they arrived at a logo. 

They’re currently developing our website using Wix. We don’t have any products yet, and Big Red Jelly has advised us to go through big e-commerce websites and attach our links there, initially using those sites as the face of our company in different areas to sell our products.

We started working with them in November 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

We're happy with the logo Big Red Jelly has designed. As for the website, we're in our second review and like what we've seen so far; we have two more reviews to go. 

Overall, I'm really happy to be working with Big Red Jelly; they're professional, friendly, dynamic, and smart. They know what we need, do their research, and provide the best results. Moreover, their advice has worked well for us.

They're on time whenever they schedule a meeting or delivery. The team schedules everything ahead of time and sends us text messages or emails to remind us. Moreover, their prices are affordable for a startup.

We typically communicate via email, phone calls, and text messages. Meanwhile, our meetings are on Zoom. When I've been late for meetings, they've called me.

I'm impressed with how Big Red Jelly is in tune with what's happening online.

I needed a company that could build a website for us. My company has been built on my own name, Anthony Garcia, Inc, which has been my personal brand. My previous website was really focused on my personal brand — it didn't highlight the consulting business that I had developed. I needed to build a website that would cohesively highlight the personal brand I built as more of a consulting company.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Big Red Jelly developed a website that combined my personal brand and my sales consultancy brand. We started the engagement by discussing the three revenue platforms our company makes and how we can put them all together on one page without having to reroute to other websites. They then provided me with a few options on how to best have the site set for monetization, and the options they gave me were the best that I've heard in terms of keeping everything streamlined, seamless, and on brand.

Big Red Jelly then built a WordPress site from scratch. The site allows users to request information on my company, see testimonials from previous clients, and request workshops. Our primary goal for the site is to bring visitors to our sales pipeline.

We don’t have any metrics yet, but I’m really impressed with Big Red Jelly’s work. When I worked with a previous designer, I paid a little bit more and got only a fraction of the quality of work. Big Red Jelly listened to everything I said and brought everything to life.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

Big Red Jelly performed well in terms of project management. All feedback I shared with them, they implemented immediately, which was really helpful.

We used ClickUp for project management, and we typically communicated through email and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was most impressed with Big Red Jelly’s responsiveness. They had an incredibly fast response time — they answered all of my inquiries and questions within a business day. Overall, the professionalism that they carried was significantly greater than what I had prior with my previous web designer.

No, I don’t have any constructive feedback. It was an incredibly seamless experience.

Make sure to have clear goals on what you want to achieve. I've probably worked with four or five web designers over the past 20 years, and what made this project successful was my clarity. I was crystal clear about what I wanted to happen, and Big Red Jelly followed my direction really well.

They met all the deadlines and stayed on budget for everything. We communicated via email, and Big Red Jelly created videos with tutorials and explanations on how to fix things on the website, which were easy for me to follow.

They completed the website very quickly, and Naomi immediately understood what I was looking for. We worked well together as a team, and their prices were very impressive. Big Red Jelly was thorough in their work, and they always made sure that they were communicating everything. I was particularly impressed with Naomi and the level of support she provided. After working with Big Red Jelly, I learned that website building wasn’t as scary as I initially thought.

The treatment I had during the building phase was wonderful, but once I switched to maintenance, the service dropped off a bit.

Be very clear about what you want to communicate and know your message and color scheme. Know how much feedback you want and how often you’re going to attend to the website, and make them aware of your expectations. You should also be clear if you want a generic website or if you want more uniqueness to it.

My website was already set up on Wix, and I liked it, but we just needed to update some parts and add to it. Big Red Jelly has been responsible for updating my website with new photographs, listings of showings, and explanations. Additionally, they’ve updated a section on my late husband’s paintings. They’ve also been responsible for hosting the site.

We had a problem at the beginning of the project because Big Red Jelly didn’t understand that we just wanted to update the site and add to it. Instead, they wanted to redo the entire site. Ideally, the website would’ve been complete by now, but it’s still not finished, and the team has been making corrections to it. 

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

Getting on the same page as Big Red Jelly has been challenging. We’ve spent hours gathering information and making requests for corrections via email, which they haven’t followed; the website still hasn’t hit the mark. 

We’ve used phone, Zoom, and email to communicate. They’ve been extremely good at delivering on our requests when we've spoken with them directly. During phone calls, Chloe has confidently and capably implemented our feedback. However, trying to get things done via email has been a disaster.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Big Red Jelly’s biggest strength is making corrections via phone when we go over the website page by page. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Big Red Jelly could improve by listening to what we’re asking for and doing it that way. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend clearly communicating your project objectives and how you’d like to achieve them.

The team will provide hosting for the site. The next and last step of the engagement will be to help us with our growth strategy.

TS: Big Red Jelly has succeeded in everything we needed them to do, and we're very impressed with them. Although it's too early to see metrics, everything looks great, so I'm confident their work will have a positive impact. Moreover, the team's customer service has gone above and beyond. 

CS: We've had many people look at our website, and everyone says it looks great. Big Red Jelly's team is fabulous. Overall, we've had a good experience with them.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

CS: They deliver everything on time. Their communication is awesome, and so is their appointment setting. The team also incorporates our ideas; just yesterday, I asked Bethany to change a photo, and she did so immediately. 

TS: Bethany is awesome to work with. As for communication tools, we have meetings through Zoom, and the rest of our communication is through email. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

TS: Big Red Jelly's professionalism is impressive. I like that each of their employees specializes in a different area instead of having one person trying to do everything.

Are there any areas they could improve?

CS: There isn't really anything they need to improve. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

CS: Go with Big Red Jelly! They're reasonably priced and easy to work with. We're not tech-savvy; they've been very good at helping us understand their work.

TS: Additionally, provide them with as many photos and materials as possible, such as your logo, which will help them do their job.
