We saw our top 10 rankings keywords grow within a short period of time, but more importantly, we saw more traffic and more leads. They definitely met our expectations.

The expertise. Period. They have the most knowledgeable people when it comes to SEO and digital marketing in general. You can tell it comes from the top down. They are masters of their craft, no question.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I wouldn't say they were the cheapest bid, but they were the best value. I was happy for the service, but I wouldn't say Big Leap is an economy budget solution.

Their leadership team was more involved than other companies that I've seen. If there was ever an issue, it was nice to know that I could reach out to their leadership team and have a quick conversation with them. Their leadership team is very approachable and personable.

Not really.

We had some unique challenges with our search engine rankings. I had heard great things about Big Leap and brought them in to consult. Bryan Phelps, the CEO, personally came in and provided so much value that I felt like we'd be stupid not to hire Big Leap.

I had heard great things - their reputation preceded them. I evaluated several vendors and no one talked in more detail and with more authority than Big Leap.

Initially, we hired them to consult on how to get us through a Google penalty, but after that, they approached an evergreen strategy for us that included both on-page and off-page SEO. They reported back the rankings changes for the strategic keywords we were going after, as well as reports of the types of links they built.

Big Leap definitely did not disappoint! Each month we saw incredible gains in search engine rankings, and it never slowed down. They more than tripled our already-sizable organic traffic while working together. We never had to feel like we weren't getting the value we paid for. They always overdelivered.

They were willing to meet and collaborate more often than I had time for, so that was good. They sent regular reports and were very communicative. I was always the bottleneck.

They just continued to innovate and didn't slow down pace. With most agencies, at some point it feels like they kinda take their foot off the gas and start to coast. Big Leap continued to push forward and find the next big opportunity.

No, they were incredible, and I continue to recommend them anytime someone asks about SEO.

I’m the VP of e-commerce at a 3D art and avatar creation company.

We’re looking to grow our organic search rankings for specific keywords and improve our site performance for customers.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re our traditional SEO firm, providing content recommendations based on keyword analysis of the competitive landscape. Through keyword research, they help define where we sit in the market to today before determining a pathway to get us where we want to be in the future.

They also did a site analysis, which includes both necessary technical updates and opportunities for improvement on the UX design end. We’ve also asked for their input on how to write more compelling content for customers. Their team is able to provide both strategy and technical implementation.

I collaborated with a project manager and one specialist on a weekly basis. When we have more content needs, we are then able to utilize the resources we need to meet our goals.

I worked with them in a previous role and was incredibly impressed by their level of organization and the results they provided. Their approach to making SEO accessible to us while making sure their work aligned with our goals stood out.

We’ve spent more than $50,000 to this point.

We’ve been working with them since March 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve increased our organic rank for target keywords by about 10 places, which is really strong for us. There’s still work to be done, but we’re already seeing dramatic improvements. Overall our organic reach is up by 40%. While there are many contributing factors there, we think their work is beginning to make a meaningful difference at this point.  

How did Big Leap perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re excellent, keeping up with a weekly communication cadence. They likely follow up with me more than I’m following up with them. It’s clear that they want to move forward as quickly as possible. We’re incredibly impressed with them. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a roadmap with organizational detail that I’ve never seen from another firm. Their audit gives 85 points, composed of metadata, the site map, and more. Then, they help us rank each point according to its level of importance and potential for growth. They also tell us how difficult it will be to improve each point. 

They have a very detailed, metrics-driven approach to SEO, which we really appreciate. Their level of detail and transparency is hugely important.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. We rehired them because I liked working with them so much. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Set clear expectations and maintain communication about what is and is not working. There needs to be reasonable goals and communication throughout.

I never have to lift a finger. Everything has always ran very smooth. They have a plan created for us every month, which makes us feel like our company is in constant team discussions. All of the content they create is taylor fitted to my industry.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing. They stepped it up during the Covid -19 crisis to ensure I had all the tools I needed to keep our essential business running. I felt very supported in my time of need.

I’m the digital marketing manager for Colonial Van Lines. We’re a long-distance moving company. We move people, customers, and businesses over state lines.

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Leap?

Big Leap is helping out with SEO. We were trying to get more leads from our website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They manage all the technical SEO aspects of our website. They help us with our listings, creating backlinks, and manage our content creation calendar. They have a number of different strategies in place. In the beginning, they really focused on the technical side of our website and made a lot of improvements to make us more searchable for Google. For example, they increased our speed and got rid of any errors on the site. They still help with that on a regular basis, but it has really evolved and we’re doing things to build our momentum.

Some of our new strategies include going back and looking at our keywords. We currently rank on page two of Google’s listings. Big Leap is helping us push those keywords to get us on page one. They’re digging deep in order to customize our website and improve our rankings.

They Ahrefs in order to monitor the errors on our site. They have their dashboard that generates reports that they send to us on a regular basis.

What is the team composition?

We work with about three people on a regular basis.

How did you come to work with Big Leap?

We work with one of their partner companies for PPC and they recommended Big Leap. They used to be competitors but now they work together nicely because they specialize in different things. I did a lot of research and Big Leap had a lot of good reviews. It seemed like they had a lot of success with their customers. They also did a presentation for us and talked about how they could change our site in order to help us grow in rankings.

Some of the other companies I talked to said they could do some things in theory, but they didn’t demonstrate what they were going to do to help us improve.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend about $5,000 per month with them (approximately $55,0000 in total).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2019 and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The two key metrics we use to track success is the amount of organic traffic to our website and the number of organic qualified leads we receive through our website.

At the beginning, it was a little rough because SEO takes about six months to really see major results. We were thinking about finding another partner at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it was rough for everybody around then. Since we started in November, and March was where we expected to see a return on our investment, we were concerned when the pandemic hit. I talked to Big Leap about it, and we tried to come up with some strategies to help us succeed and grow, and we did.

Starting in March, we met our goal of beating last year’s numbers. We’ve truly grown. For example, I just sent them the lead report for September 2020 and from the September 10th–16th, we received 123 organic leads. In the same week in 2019, we received 73 leads.

How did Big Leap perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a weekly meeting. We sit down for about an hour and we talk about everything—staffing, progress, what’s coming up next, and what we’ve accomplished so far. The meetings have been great for communication. We’ve really been able to stay on the same page.

That’s not the only way I can talk to them either; we send emails back and forth and they’re very responsive too.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their responsiveness. When certain situations come up, we’re able to talk about it and they always come up with new ways to solve the problem.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We had  a little bit of concern around their very realistic projections. They told us we weren’t going to be able to increase our leads by 50%, which was our original goal. They said we were probably only going to reach about 20% in six months. We actually increased more than that, but they were trying to set realistic foals. We were worried that it was too low and we were going to fail with them. Obviously, we didn’t, but it was enough to make us hesitate on working with them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you have the weekly meeting. Participation on the customer side is incredibly important. They will be responsive and help you as much as they can, but without feedback from the client, they can’t be as useful.

Our rankings on Google pages for different keywords have increased dramatically, as have the number of phone calls we’re getting. Also, the number of web searches that lead to people landing on our website have increased. Every month, it seems like they’re meeting their metrics and goals.

They’ve been great. They’re always scheduling meetings, keeping me in the loop, and reaching out. We communicate over email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The communication, transparency, and knowledge of Google and SEO sets them apart.

I can’t think of anything.

Any advice for potential customers?

I would just say to give them a try. It’s a bit harder to gauge performance with SEO, and it takes a while to turn the ship around, so I’d recommend being patient. It will eventually pay off, but you can’t expect it to pay off in one month.

They had two account managers but later on, the other one was fired from the project. And they also had one customer success supervisor.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have had very little outcome so far. They created some keyword lists and they did make one type of page for us but that was about it for three months of work. This has been very frustrating as we've had to pay them to deliver nothing.

They have timelines they make and give you for deliverables but they do not hit their own timelines. I had to keep following up with them asking for deliverables.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their sales process and the SEO they do for themselves. They rank very highly in search and have a bunch of great reviews which I assume they have given themselves. This plus a sales process that makes them seem like they really know what they are doing got me hooked in.

Communication, hitting deadlines, hiring, and training staff, providing ROI to their clients can all be improved.
