BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the founder of The Poetry Corner, I had the idea for a poetry app where you could discover and read classic poetry. Most sites online had bad designs and ads all over the place, and I thought people might pay using a subscription model for an ad-free design. So far that seems to have turned out correct!

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Artisan Apps, and what were your goals?

I hired Artisan Apps to create the mobile app. My main goal was to have an app that could provide some passive income.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I have a friend who worked at Deliveroo with me. I told him about my idea and he put my in touch with Paul, who had started the mobile apps agency Artisan Apps. He said he could do it very cheaply, as he was just building out his portfolio.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We met a few times to talk about what the app would look like. Paul asked for examples of other apps and designs that I liked. After we agreed on a feature list, he sent over a short contract with the features we'd agreed on, and said he could build it for £800. So much cheaper than the rest of the market.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

I pretty much only spoke to Paul, he would liaise with a designer while he focused on the development work.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The app has received a 4.8 rating with more than a hundred reviews across the UK and the US App Stores. The MVP was delivered in a month, which was actually a lot faster than I was expecting.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

I received weekly email updates about the progress while the work was ongoing. If there was thing that we needed to sit down and talk about, we would arrange a call for that week.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Just the speed of the development, and the quality of the finished product. I had looked around at other agencies before choosing Artisan Apps, and they were much more expensive, and some of the apps in their portfolios had bugs.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not really?
