BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder and CEO of The Build, and we developed a project management tool for residential contractors. It integrates the execution of ordering building materials and the management of projects.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with AppStoneLab Technologies LLP?

We needed someone to provide us with wireframes for web and mobile app development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed a web-based platform for our company, and a mobile app to help contractors manage their construction projects. They executed the designs made by another vendor to make an app for Android and iOS.

They use WordPress and Java for web development, as well as Native and Flutter for the mobile app version. Additionally, our servers are running on AWS, and they’re currently providing us with ongoing maintenance support.

What is the team composition?

I would say we’re working with about 6–8 people, and they’re made up of Android developers, iOS developers, and web developers. So far, we’ve had about three project managers who handle different types of projects for us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $34,000 to date.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing engagement started in January 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re beta testing the app, so we’ve gotten some downloads and positive feedback from friends, family, and people who’re testing it.

How did AppStoneLab Technologies LLP perform from a project management standpoint?

There’s a bit of a difficulty because of the language barrier, but regardless of that, the communication is still good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We like that they’re very accommodating to the clients, and they always find the right person to get the job done. Even when we deviate from the scope and make it more difficult for them, they always execute and stick to the budget.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Since my partner and I didn’t really have a lot of experience in mobile and web app development, I would suggest they create a better framework to help us get up to speed with the process. We want to understand better so we can get them what we need more efficiently.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would suggest knowing what it is you’re trying to achieve before asking for their help. There are a lot of development languages and paths you can go through, so make sure to do your research on what it is you want to develop.
