What challenge were you trying to address with StarApps?

I needed someone to develop a mobile app for me called SpeakPro.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re developing a mobile app for Android and iOS. The Android version is live. The iOS is still being worked on. 

It’s a voice calling and chatting app. I put 98 different language buttons on it. Users just scroll through buttons and tap on their preferred language. They will be connected with other users that tapped on the same language. It connects strangers who want to chat. 

I made a PDF document of all the requirements, features, functionalities, buttons, and appearances, and they started working on it. 

What is the team composition?

I was in contact with the project manager.

How did you come to work with StarApps?

I found them on Upwork. They’re in Ukraine, and I’m in the U.S. U.S. developers are expensive, so I looked for someone cheaper. They speak Russian, as do I.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve spent about $2,500.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2020, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The Android app was quickly developed and easy to publish on Google Play. The app looks professional. 

It’s not easy to get an app published on the App Store. They have a lot of requirements. We’d submit, and they’d return and reject it. We also ran into some delays because I was sick with COVID-19 for several months. That’s why it took a long time and why the iOS version isn’t live yet. 

How did StarApps perform from a project management standpoint?

I communicated with the project manager through Upwork. Once I trusted them, we moved to Skype for calls and chat.  Every time they completed a milestone, I’d test the app and give my feedback. We’re always in contact back and forth. Communication was straightforward.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re true professionals who know what they’re doing. They listen to my needs. They try to do their best to meet and exceed my expectations. They don’t hesitate to help out and share their ideas and experiences. Customer satisfaction is their priority. They never rushed to get my money. They wanted to make sure I was happy first.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Go ahead and give them a chance. They know what they’re doing. Their top priority is the quality of their work and customer satisfaction.

I’m the account manager at NextBPM, a development consulting company. We do application development.

We needed help with custom software development. Currently, we have three projects with them.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We work with our customers in SAP, developing in business process management (BPM). StarApps does the cross-implementation for iOS, Android, and web applications using JavaScript and HTML5.

They’ve developed a systems integration app for a customer of ours. It enables the user to check if a list is right and working, through an application from their iPhone or iPad. The application communicates with the SAP.

What is the team composition?

I work with Volodymyr (CEO, StarApps) and his team.

How did you come to work with StarApps?

We found them online.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $25,000. It varies from project to project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2016 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The customers say the apps work really well and that the team did a good quality job. I’m completely satisfied with the work. Overall, they have the skills we need, and our experience with them is very successful.

How did StarApps perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a project lead on our side who works with their project lead and they coordinate very well. The work is always done on time. We visit each other, and we also often work remotely. Next week, their Ukraine team is coming to us in Germany.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The applications they create are easily implemented into the systems. The quality is very good, they’re cheap, and they do the work the way we like. We work together very well.

We had one developer assigned to our team. He was working full time with us.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The developer did a great job and finished all the tasks on time.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was flawless. The communication was perfect.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Communication, honesty, transparency, and work ethic. Taras put in many hours, night shifts and if necessary he even worked on the weekend. He took true ownership of the project. Tbh it didn't feel like working with a freelancer. Taras was really part of our team. Overall, Volodymyr and Taras gave their best and were 100% committed to our project. It was truly an awesome experience working with Taras.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We had an overall amazing experience working with the company. And we are very grateful that he was part of our team and supported us during the early period of our startup. Anyone who has the chance should definitely work with Volodymyr and Taras. They are two great professionals but most importantly awesome human beings.

StarApps developed our software from wireframe to final product. They continue to maintain the software.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to create a reliable MVP that could penetrate the test market.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We interviewed over 10 companies. StarApps was the most suitable because of their work ethic and communication skills.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

We began working from wireframes with our project manager. They stayed in constant contact to discuss logic and design tasks. We had weekly progress meetings to review milestones.

What was the team composition?

The team consisted of five people. Our main contact was a project manager.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The fashion industry scheduled our marketing plans, so exceeding deadlines would have delayed our project. Thankfully, StarApps met all our deadlines by bringing in additional staff when necessary.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We managed the entire project through Skype. Our delegated team leader always responded within one hour.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive element was the stability of the software.
