BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of Digital Sensing and Control LLC. Our app grabs data from water meters and takes that data to the cloud, displaying it to browsers. Apart from water data, we also collect data for air temperature, humidity, soil moisture, soil temperature, light levels, and depth of water in the tank. 

Essentially, the product has become a general-purpose sensing system. We’ve added some control capabilities to it so users can control the operation of a well pump. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with AOByte?

We hired a different company to develop our software, but things didn’t work out. As a result, I needed to switch to another company and hired AOByte as part of a development team to move the development forward. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, I showed AOByte the product as it had been developed. I had a conversation with Tigran (Co-Founder & CEO) regarding the product’s concept and what I wanted to see in terms of development going forward. 

From there, they’ve provided software development services to us. Tigran collaborates with another development company on this project, and they work on the problems of the software. 

What is the team composition?

I mainly deal with Tigran. He’s my key connection to the people working under him. 

How did you come to work with AOByte?

I found AOByte through a recommendation from my son. For context, my son worked in a separate company and had been using AOByte’s services for some time — he was pleased with them. I talked to my son about my business problems and needs, and he recommended the team since he had such a good experience. He suggested I look into using them for our product.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, I’ve spent over $25,000. Over time, the investment will be much more than that if we succeed. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2022, and the project is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Tigran and AOByte have been impressive in their ability to assess the software and all issues we need to address. They’ve laid them out in a way that I can clearly understand, helping me decide what deficiencies to devote our attention to and which ones to put off until a later stage. Simply put, they’ve been truly helpful in strategizing how to deal with the situation. 

Tigran has been working with another resource from another company, and the collaboration between him and that person has been excellent. They work effectively together and have an excellent working relationship. I’m pleased with this because AOByte and the other firm provide essential services. It’s important that they collaborate and understand each other. 

How did AOByte perform from a project management standpoint?

AOByte delivers on time. There have been a few instances where they didn’t. However, I’ve worked in services companies before and know teams can’t always respond to clients instantly. As a result, I never insist that Tigran responds instantly. I understand that things need to be scheduled. 

With that being said, Tigran always works to my satisfaction. He’s always upfront and clear about when he can start working and when it will be finished; they’ve always stuck to their timelines. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Tigran is an excellent manager and liaison with customers. He has great skills, and based on my experience and knowledge about being a service provider, he does as well as one could possibly imagine. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

AOByte is an excellent team — they’re everything you want in a service company. They communicate and strategize well. You’ll never feel that you don’t know what’s happening. You’ll always know what they’re doing and why they’re doing it; you’ll also anticipate costs and outcomes.
