Introduce your business and what you do there.

I run ProStrategix, a digital marketing agency that focuses on a number of services from website design to SEO to strategy, but we’re more of a strategy house.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Ambio?

We were looking for someone to redesign our website as we were having issues with page speed. The fundamental problem of using a WordPress website with a CMS and a theme built for multiple applications is bloated code. We tried solutions, other plugins, we did all other stuff, and it just wasn’t working.

We made a fundamental decision from an SEO perspective; page speed is essential, specifically for the mobile experience. No one knows what’s behind Google’s algorithm, but the user experience is a big part of that algorithm. If your user experience on mobile is not up to par, you’re going to get dinged for that.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Ambio’s work mainly focused on adding additional capacity to our company in terms of web design and PPC advertising space. They helped us redesign our website. Ambio is a bit of a supplier and customer and we work as a team.

The web design piece applies to PPC and what we do in our strategy process is to work with PPC as a way to validate insights and benefits for message testing for when we would go into full-blown advertising. Ambio Media did some SEO work with us as a joint partnership. For our own website, they’ve been an active partner and ensuring that the design helped.

We chose a custom build to avoid bloated code. Ambio built the site for us through Webflow, which enabled us to write a customized website. We’re only pulling design features that are included in their code, which increases the page speed significantly. We moved on to redesigning our website with Ambio, and they are huge on the design aspect and handled the copy aspect.

We started working with Ambio in September 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Ambio has had a huge impact on our business. They’ve helped us with web design, and we’ve helped them with strategy. We decided that this is a good partnership for us to continue to work together, and it’s worked out really well. We’ve doubled our page speed on desktop, and our site is five times faster on mobile. We’ve also seen a significant improvement in clickthrough rate based on our insights.

We’re moving into the conversion phase, and that’s the optimization phase that we’re currently working on. We’re looking for what fundamentally is driving people to come to our site, and at the end of the day, it’s going to be about clickthrough rate and conversion.

Ambio solved our fundamental issue with page speed, and our bounce rates have been cut in half. It’s content that’s going to work on conversion, not so much the website's functionality. The website was up just a couple of months ago, so building the organic SEO will take time, and that piece is ongoing.

How did Ambio perform from a project management standpoint?

We work very closely with Ambio, and they’re a part of our weekly team meetings. They are integrated as part of our whole process. Aidan is very good at managing deliverables. We meet weekly with them, so it’s a lot more hands-on from a client’s perspective. Aside from the weekly meetings, we communicate through Slack. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Ambio is very good at delivering what they say they’re going to deliver. Aidan is always responsive, and productivity tools like Slack make communication very easy. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Ambio and our company will have to deal with scale as we scale, and we’ve been building clients into our client base, but we’ve managed those plans accordingly. It’s not something they could do better, but it’s something that we both have to watch as we move forward.

Make sure that you’re correctly scoping the work and clarifying your needs and expectations.
