I’m the IT manager of OTI Lumionics, a chemical manufacturing company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Amanah Tech Inc.?

We didn’t have much space in our old office, so we wanted a few of our servers to be hosted in a remote location, so we hired Amanah.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Amanah provides rack hosting services for us. We have very high computing services, and they provide power management according to our requirements. They offer space for our rack servers and maintenance. We had two rack servers with them for some time, and now we have one. 

What is the team composition?

I’m in contact with about 10 teammates from Amanah, including people from the billing and technical support departments. 

How did you come to work with Amanah Tech Inc.?

I found them online while looking for managed service providers. We talked to a few vendors, and I found Amanah’s pricing better and their billing simpler; there weren’t any hidden costs. They also offered a customized service instead of having hard rules. We also chose them because they could provide extra space if we needed it. 

How much have you invested with them?

Each rack server costs $4,500 CAD (approximately $3,400 USD) per month. We paid $9,000 CAD (approximately $6,800 USD) a month when we had two racks. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in May 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Since working with Amanah, we’ve had less downtime — only about 10 minutes throughout the engagement. The team informs us about maintenance time when we won’t have a connection to our server so that we’re prepared. Any time I’ve had small questions, even related to our equipment, they check the power from their side, which is really helpful. 

How did Amanah Tech Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very informative whenever they have maintenance on their side. They send us emails and reminders before downtime, so it’s easy for us to keep the timing in mind. They have a customer support email where we send our questions. Then, they transfer the information to their different internal departments. If I send them an email late in the evening, I get a response first thing in the morning, which is really good. 

We also use phone calls to communicate; they call our office if they have any questions. If I don’t pick up the phone, they leave a voicemail and send a follow-up email. The technical support teammates are very proactive in answering our questions. If we have any billing questions, they follow up with us to ensure they give us an answer. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Amanah’s biggest strength is that they’re located downtown in our city, which is really accessible. Additionally, their cooling system and the power management they do is excellent. I applaud them for maintaining something that big with so little downtime. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

When it comes to providing quick support, they could offer every client 30 minutes every six months. That way, when I need something quickly, I wouldn’t have to go downtown, open my data rack, and check it. Instead, they could take a look at it for five minutes and tell me whether it’s working. This would be really helpful for small tasks instead of charging for the whole hour if they’re onsite. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice would be that Amanah is a good place to start, whether you have a big or small infrastructure. The team provides good service and is in a very accessible location. Moreover, they don’t try to force clients to take more than one data rack, which I’ve seen other data centers doing. They’ll customize their service according to your needs, so you should try them out.

We wanted to replace our hosting for our company-based service because we needed to relocate.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Amanah Tech Inc. replaced our hosting services; we brought our equipment, and they installed their infrastructure to support us through an on-site approach. They’ve also helped us solve connectivity issues between network backbone organizations.

Currently, they still provide location and connection to the internet backbone.

We’ve worked with Nezar (CEO) and a few technical support team members.

How did you come to work with Amanah Tech Inc.?

We reached out to them, and after investigating their costs and availability, we decided to work with them. They were able to provide what we required, gave us good initial information, and were responsive — we believed that they’d be able to provide what they promised.

How much money have you invested in this partnership?

We invest $10,000 with them a year.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2016, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I have no complaint with their work; whenever we’ve had an issue, they address it quickly.

How did Amanah Tech Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They meet deadlines, stay on budget, and make themselves available. Regarding communication, we use email and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re happy with their services and haven’t had the need to look at their competition.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Cheaper is always nicer!

Pay attention to your contract and be aware of what you need going in to avoid unpleasant surprises.
