What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Improved Product Discovery & Exploration

• Introduction of a site-wide search engine
• UI additions to sorting of products in category pages (by name, by price, by style) attending the ways customers explore products.
• UI modification: pagination system to replace the current ‘Load More’ button. This gives customers a better idea of how many products a category has, and creates a better mental map of our product organization
• The system will keep memory of the sorting and filtering preferences when returning to the same category page during a session.

Improved Navigation Menus 

• Clear separation of lines (pre-designed, bespoke, diamond-first)
• Increasing number of pre-designed collections
• SEO gains by showing all the sub-categories (18+) for pre-designed products

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Every project was developed using a product requirements document that outlined various functional and technical needs. These were then evaluated by AIM and a development plan for completion was put into place. We utilized an iterative build approach that set near-term goals to achieve the long term product vision.

AIM was very engaged and responsive to our development needs. We conducted meetings 2 times a week to ensure alignment, set priorities and react to changes between our team and theirs. We worked clsoely to monitor progress and ensure needs were clearly understood and technical development issues could be managed so that progress could be made each month. This also reduced exposure to errors or rebuild.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

aiMonkey is very collaborative and responsive. We developed trust that they take ownership of our technology and are there to support us whenever we need it. We've had bad experiences in the past with offshore development, but AIM has proved to be a reliable, trusted partner that has delivered what we needed and supported us effectively. We enjoy working with them and appreciate their dedication to the mission. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something aiMonkey could have done differently?

AIM has always been good about delivering, but also good at giving us advanced notice when they may not be able to complete a task or piece of work or even when making team changes. Software development is a dynamic process for small companies like ours, so we appreciate their flexibility for our needs. Our interaction with AIM was mainly through meetings, Slack, Google slides and spreadsheets which has been good enough.  Larger clients than us may require more advanced integration or visibility into AIM's development efforts. If anything, perhaps they could offer more visibility on work being completed even though our weekly stand ups with them were sufficient for us to get a read out on what they were doing, what was expected to finish and what was planned for the coming week.
