Locations Filming in one location is cheaper than multi-location shoots. Using your own office is cheaper than renting studios. Budgets must also cover scouting, permits, insurance, and logistics. 4. Production Days Each day on set multiplies the cost of crew, gear, and rentals. Larger crews can sometimes be more cost-effective if their efficiency allows the production to wrap in fewer days. 5. Art Direction & Set Design Some productions require custom sets, furniture, and props. An art director is needed to manage the fabrication, rental, and design of these elements. 6. Crew Size Specialized roles add labor/logistical costs. While a smaller crew reduces the budget, it often limits production capabilities and increases the risk of error. 7. Specialization Niche requests like drone footage, underwater filming, or stunts require specialized equipment and certified experts. However, technology can save money — such as using remote monitoring to avoid client travel costs. 8. Timing The "Iron Triangle" applies: Pick 2 of High Quality, Fast Turnaround, or Low Budget. High quality delivered quickly will never be low budget. 9. Animation & Motion Graphics Visual effects and motion graphics add workload to post-production. Complex, frame-by-frame animation requires longer lead times. 10. Deliverables Maximizing footage for various platforms is efficient, but the volume and length of the final edits directly dictate the post-production scope and cost.

Here are 8 ways to help us price out your video if you don't know your exact budget: 1. References: Find examples of videos that match what you’re envisioning for your video. Then share those with us and we can reverse-engineer what those would cost to produce. 2. Priorities: Determine your must-have items versus your wish list items. 3. Budget range: Even a budget range for the production is helpful in planning. Then we can share what’s possible at each end of the range. 4. Car brands: A simple metaphor can accelerate the budget discussion. “We’re thinking more along the lines of a Mercedes, not a Mazda.” 5. Timing: If you know the date that you need the video(s) in your hands to publish, then we can work backwards from there. This is a helpful constraint to know. 6. Deliverables: Outline the content you want (e.g. one 30-second edit, two 15-second edits in 9x16 aspect ratio, etc.). 7. Usage: Convey the purpose of your video. The budget for an internal training video should be quite different from a national CTV ad campaign. 8. Benchmarks: If you paid $20,000 for a previous video, share the video so we have a frame of reference.

There are 3 phases to our testimonial productions. 1. Pre-Production For Testimonials Our planning process is guided by a creative brief, which outlines our client’s goals for the testimonial video(s), references that match what they envision for the content, talking points, and other pertinent information. To develop the creative brief, we share this questionnaire with our clients that touches on all aspects of the project. From there, we build a project timeline, coordinate with the interviewee(s) to schedule interviews, and begin interview prep. We also draft a tailored set of interview questions for our client’s approval. Lastly, we begin collecting creative assets and brand guidelines from the client to facilitate the editing process. 2. Filming Testimonials For remote interviews, we guide the interviewee(s) through the set-up and share best practices to maximize the quality of the audio and footage. For on-site interviews, our production team handles the end-to-end set-up, filming, and equipment takedown. We record all interview footage and supporting b-roll, if applicable. Clients are welcome to join the interview sessions, but it’s optional. For clients who want to join the interviews remotely, we can accommodate those requests. More info here. Within 48 hours after filming, we send our clients an interview transcript or stringout so the client can select their favorite soundbites. 3. Testimonial Post-Production Once we gather feedback from the client, we begin editing the footage into an initial 90-120-second edit. We share the first version of the edit within 14 business days after the filming. Clients have up to three rounds of revisions, and the turnaround on each round of revisions is 2-3 business days. Once the primary testimonial video is approved by the client, we create shorter cutdowns or additional aspect ratios for social media. We can also add captions, background music, and title graphics.

We schedule a discovery call with prospective new clients to align on their goals and priorities, share video references, and discuss other pertinent details like budget and timeline. Also, we can complete many of these items by sharing an intake form ahead of the call. If we determine that the project is a good fit, we will share an estimate with the client to outline the scope. If the estimate is approved, we share a detailed scope of work for signature. After the contract is signed, we schedule a kickoff call with the client to share a project plan & timeline, make official introductions to everyone who will be involved in the project, and answer any questions.
