I am one of the co-founders of the Moove Together app. In March 2020, my friends and I found ourselves without access to any of our usual workout options, therefore we wanted to create a mobile app experience that would reconnect us with friends in a very disconnected time.

Structured like fantasy sports leagues but with a single user and his/her friends scoring the points in weekly match-ups against other teams, Moove helps people hit their fitness goals and satisfies their inner athlete through the power of accountability, teamwork, and competition.

30Hills team has developed a hybrid mobile app that we plan to launch in January 2023. They utilized agile development methods in creating the Moove Together app, with a focus on clearly defining the design and business logic. The backend was written in Node.js, using a MongoDB database, while the user interface was developed in React Native, compatible with both iOS and Android. 

The admin section of the app was written in Web React. The development process began with a robust product development phase, translating ideas into design, business logic, and documentation. Agile software development methodologies were then implemented to ensure flexibility and responsiveness to evolving requirements.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The app has grown from a few hundred users to around 2,000, with plans to double that number in the first quarter of 2024.

Their project management style is primarily agile and goal-oriented. They use an iterative approach, which means that the project life cycles are composed of several iterations or incremental steps towards the completion of our MVP. The advantage of iteration is that we could adjust certain functionalities as we progressed, rather than strictly following a linear path.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Before starting to write code they make sure that the product brings a higher value and has an impact on users. They are proactive and engaged in the business logic and problem-solving process. In addition, even though our team is located in the US and they are in Europe, the time difference and remote collaboration were not a challenge for us at all.

I’m the founder of Grainz, a cloud-based SaaS B2B ERP solution provider for the restaurant, bar, and hospitality industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with 30Hills?

We had a powerful backend solution with a rudimentary home-built frontend. Given that, we needed to improve our frontend's professionalism and UX design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

30Hills has redesigned the frontend of our platform, which has more than 300 fully functional screens. They’ve combined all of our inputs into one high-quality iteration. In terms of technologies, the frontend is built with Angular, while the backend is created with .NET architecture. All frontend components call data via APIs from our backend databases. 

For our goals, our average end user isn’t tech-savvy. As a result, our product needs to be super easy to use despite being complex and advanced. This design project aims to make the project equally user-friendly on a laptop, a computer, a phone, or other handheld devices. That’s the biggest challenge we’ve had; it’s where we need 30Hills’ services.

We work with four people from 30Hills.

30Hills was introduced to us by a mutual acquaintance. I was immediately impressed by the speed with which they grasped the nature of our business. They had strong empathy toward our target audience.

We have a budget of between €150,000–€200,000 (approximately $157,000–$210,000 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the engagement in June 2021, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Everybody loves 30Hills’ designs. My team has responded positively to them — everybody’s delighted with the results of the collaboration. Our support staff has to use the same product interface to look after our customers, and they find the new UX design to be powerful and helpful for their work.

How did 30Hills perform from a project management standpoint?

30Hills’ project management style is first-class. I’ve never seen it done this well before. We use Trello to manage the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re more than a project manager or an outsource provider — they’ve become our partners in the project. Their contributions go all the way up to strategic insights; I see this relationship to be permanent. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. There is nothing in recollection that they’ve done below their 100%. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I couldn’t recommend 30Hills more highly. You should listen to what they say and not arrive with overly predetermined ideas of what the outcome should be. They bring a lot of unexpected high-end value to the project.

That's why it's crucial for our product to maintain extreme user-friendliness despite its complexity and sophistication and advancement. The aim of this design project is to ensure the product's equal user-friendliness across various devices like laptops, computers, phones, and other handheld devices. This stands as our primary challenge, and it's where we rely on 30Hills' support.

PROJECT SUMMARY: 30Hills partnered with us to create an MVP version of their e-commerce platform, completely revamping it on the Magento 2 platform. This redesign aimed to elevate the online shopping experience for our customers, ensuring a more enhanced and improved interface.

30. Hills pays attention to the smallest detail. They knocked me off my feet and completely delighted me during the implementation of the solution on production. There was a 4-millisecond difference in the transferred data from the original. This millisecond accuracy is proof of maximum commitment.

Creation of native mobile Android and iOS applications. Employees should be able to install the application on private phones and be able to log in safely without an AD account. Phase 1 of the project meant that the application had only basic functions necessary for informing employees (documentation for Phase 5 is currently being prepared). Phase 1 deliverables:

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Thanks to the application (promotional name mPortal), we managed to reach over 50% of front line and remote employees who, before the introduction of this mobile application, were denied access to the digital corporate information network. Field promotion is going on continuously so that we expect to reach 80% of our colleagues who do not have another digital source of information in the course of the next year.

In many ways, the colleagues from the 30Hills agency were ahead of us, so they helped us a lot not only with the creation of the project itself, but also with how to conceive it in relation to the existing technological environment in the company, which was often a serious challenge.

The 30Hills team was always on our side, even in periods when it was not easy and simple. Thanks in large part to their professionalism and persistence, the mPortal project was successfully brought to a stable stage.

Well, during the development and initial stages of the project, we thought there was a lot that could be done faster and better, but now, from the perspective of the project in its final phase, I feel that the 30Hills team did everything they could and at the time.
