It was not a good experience in 2022. My tax manager left their firm and thenI was tossed around to incompetent tax managers who knew nothing about handling my situation. I spoke to the management about my issues but I just got randomly assigned to other people who could not help and then they stopped helping me completely and abandoned my tax prep work.

They are not a good firm for consultants with 1-25 employees since the budget is tight in small bsuiness so the value received is basic at best. I recommend using the popular tax firms like turbo tax or H&R Block to do taxes because after thousands of dollars they just don't match the value or customer respect owed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It's all handled electronically using their custom in house booking keeping software and they rotate accountants like groceries in kitchen, so you have option to change if you don't like working with someone, for a few times.All meetings with your accountant are scheduled via app or desktop website and they can also expedite your slot, incase someone else becomes available but you risk switching your accountant.Their turn around times to switch accountants is about 5 business days.

You are never connected to management in case of issues and get scheduled to speak with someone in customer support incase of accounting issues, though you could message your accounting manger via app or online but response may be limited or ineffective versus a phone conversation with their manager in escalation event. Overall its convenient but not effective with 1800 accountants unless you are willing to shell huge sums of money.

Are there any areas for improvement or something 1-800Accountant could have done differently?

Hire and retain good accountants with real world experience and a CPA. Senior accountants move away from customer facing roles so whats left is junk that customer face and get ripped, so better pay might help keep more seasoned accountants in their role than promote them in house for bigger payout. Hire accountants from metropolitan areas not Kansas! we need quality not quantity.
