We engaged ZeroDays to take over development for our mobile application, built in Flutter for both Android and iOS. The team meticulously reviewed the existing codebase first done a comprehensive refactoring and then implemented multiple features including essential measurement functionalities, support for asymmetric cryptography and others. As this mobile app needed to interface with an embedded device via Bluetooth—while the device’s firmware and hardware were still under development— ZeroDays demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of embedded systems. Their ability to collaborate with our hardware and firmware engineers and handle dynamic firmware requirements was crucial to ensuring seamless communication between the mobile app and the device.

Beyond the mobile application, Zerodays needed to develop a robust multitenancy backend to manage our deployed devices. This included end-to-end device provisioning, both symmetric and asymmetric cryptography key distribution, scalable firmware update mechanism to enable mass over-the-air updates. The backend also needed to handle real-time data exchange of measurements, integrate with third-party APIs, and provide continuous communication with the mobile app. From conceptualization and design to implementation and ongoing DevOps, ZeroDays oversaw the entire lifecycle of the backend platform on our managed servers. They ensured separate staging and production environments, which allowed for efficient testing and stable deployments.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Independent Testing: We conducted comprehensive, independent testing of the developed mobile app and the backend web application. The tests on the mobile app verified core functionalities (such as Bluetooth communication and measurement functionalities) as well as the newly integrated cryptographic and measurement features.

Reliable Device Integration: During our tests, the app consistently performed as expected (there is a quite complex near real-time communication required between the embedded device, mobile app and the backend system). We also validated custom firmware updates and cryptographic key exchanges.

Successful Deployments: Both the mobile application and the backend system were deployed to our staging and production environments without major issues.

User Feedback: Early user feedback indicated that the application’s interface, performance, and reliability met or exceeded expectations.

• User Engagement --> The newly developed landing page significantly increased user engagement. Within the first month of launch, we saw a 45% increase in the average time users spent on the site
• Conversion Rate -->  The landing page led to a 30% improvement in the conversion rate of visitors to sign-ups. 
• Extension Adoption --> The Google Chrome extension gained a lot of traction among our target audience which is students. Within 1 month of launch, the extension was downloaded over a couple hundred times and we got a bunch of positive reviews.
• Positive Feedback -->  We received a lot of positive feedback from users about the new features and overall usability of both the landing page and the extension. This feedback has helped us to validate our product concept and continue refining our offerings based on user needs.

Zerodays developed the fronted and backed for our application. This consists of a GUI for the customer, a GUI for the maintenance workers and analytical processes. They wrote the code that drives our hardware (actuators, lights,..) and ensured a stable connectivity to peripheral devices and onto any customers network. As part of the maintenance services they provide regular updates and custom integrations for our customers.

This required syncing product SKUs, pricing, inventory, orders, and partners, as well as establishing contract prices for our B2B clients. For integration with Klaviyo and Mailchimp, our partner needed to review the available API documentation and connect these applications with our e-commerce platform. 
This was necessary to gather orders and launch automated email campaigns, considering different customers' locales and GDPR compliance. Additionally, we requested the creation of an AI tool that automatically generates product attributes based on the descriptions and external sources provided for each item.

Zerodays worked closely with the Proky team to deliver an exceptional web app with a focus on user experience. The scope of work included ongoing feature development, architecture design, and consulting. The team gradually took over more responsibilities as the project progressed, from the early stages of platform development to ongoing feature development.

The technology stack used for Proky's platform was built on React JS, Python, and PostgreSQL, chosen for their reliability, scalability, and ease of use. However, as the company grew, there was a need to improve the efficiency of the systems and make them more scalable. Zerodays worked on implementing microservices architecture in some of the modules to break down the monolithic application into a collection of small, loosely coupled services.

This allowed for greater flexibility and scalability, as well as faster development and deployment cycles. Additionally, it also allowed for more efficient use of resources and better fault tolerance, which was important for Proky as they continue to grow. Zerodays also placed a strong emphasis on quality control and quality, conducting regular testing and quality assurance checks to ensure that the platform is reliable and secure.

The team shifted focus towards implementing automated testing during the programming process to address the increased number of bugs in production.
