We hired Zajno to redesign our website. Our old website was outdated and generic - it didn't do a good job of illustrating who we are and what we do. I was impressed with Zajno's portfolio and liked the modern and unconventional work they do. We wanted an innovative and cutting-edge design for our website. Key deliverables were first a moodboard to make sure we were on the same page about the direction of our project. Then we were presented with a home page mockup. The first design wasn't quite right (it rarely ever is the first time!) but Zajno was really good about communication and making adjustments to the design based on our feedback. Once the home page was approved, the next deliverables were designing the rest of our website pages. Lastly, they prepped everything for our developer, including a style guide that we can use for any future projects. **RESULTS & FEEDBACK** What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success? I was impressed with the overall communication with Zajno. It was nice to have a Slack channel compared to trying to communicate via email. Measurable outcomes were good follow-through on any deadlines or time commitments. We were given all of the deliverables from our SOW in a reasonable amount of time and we didn't rush or move on until we completed the stage we were at. We had a couple rounds of edits for our home page and made a ton of progress from the first round to the round that we approved. I felt like Zajno truly understood our vision for our website without me having to over explain what I was wanting. This is an ideal scenario when working with a creative team in my opinion. Items were delivered on time - if there were any delays they were small and communicated about in advanced. I was also impressed with feedback being delivered on. When we reviewed our website pages I would sometimes mention several things that I wanted a little differently and by the next time we reviewed everything was updated. We were inspired by a lot of our competitor websites, but at the same time, didn't want to look exactly like them. Zajno did a great job of giving us a website design that still feels like "us" but feels unique and cool. I was also impressed to the commitment of the work Zajno does - they are experts in their field and are truly committed to giving you the best website design for your company. They went out of their way on their own to present us a very different and unique design without any of our brand guidelines restricting them. The website they developed doesn’t deal with conversions or a large increase in site traffic, but it does look significantly more professional. We didn’t really experience any issues and Palina was a great project manager. There was an appropriate level of pushback in the development that we believe was right for the project. There was a discovery meeting that resulted in a design brief. Wireframes with content we provided were created to confirm the layout and overall look and feel. The wireframes were then designed with the new brand colors and custom graphics and animations. We then had them implement the website themselves. For each step, there was at least 1-2 revisions along the way, and the team was very responsive in getting back new revisions for approval. The timeline was great. What was the team composition? We had a main point of contact that streamlined all communication as a project manager. There was also a technical point of contact that we would provide details to for some things we needed added to the site (i.e. code snippets, etc). The landing page was complete a week later and the UI/UX design just two weeks after that. They nailed the aesthetic and design and we finalized the UI/UX in just 3 iterations. We were assigned a project manager to support us and serve as the main point of contact throughout the project. We have yet to release our product to the public as we are still testing it behind the scenes. That said, the feedback from user testing has been extremely positive. More so than we ever expected. The landing page they developed for us lead to an email waiting list of more than 50,000. How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs? Their communication throughout the project was great. Most communication took place over email and weekly skype meetings with the project manager. They were very responsive and timely with the deliverables. It was often the case that they were waiting on us to provide more information to unblock them as opposed to them being late and missing deadlines. In the three years since the start of the project, we've accumulated so many digital mixtapes that clearly, it was time to tidy them up into a neat website.   In the case of Crappy Explanation, our goal can be best described as tidying up a quirky, vintage record store, putting the old vinyls in their boxes, and organizing them by genres. Inspired by the aesthetic of an 80s vinyl records store, we focused on recreating the corresponding textures, behaviours, and sounds to achieve an authentic atmosphere. During our collaboration, we made a website for the company that had to translate such notions as “data-driven”, “technology” and “automation”.
