I'm the founder and CEO of an insurtech startup. We deliver software solutions for insurance distributors. Our devices support unique, on polish market, life insurance offering standards. USP: web apps for customers, educational content, immediate insurance offer adequate to the client's needs.

We decided to verify the hypothesis that the analysis of customer needs can be carried out by customers themselves. It is enough to provide them with appropriate facilities. The challenge was to implement the right web application.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Among few software houses, they were the only ones who decided to meet our demending expectations. Limited budget - fixed prices model and relatively high requirements for supported workflow and front-end solutions.

Our tool is a single-page application with a CRM. Technologies used are: Vue.JS and .NET. It’s located on Apache web server. The machine is located on a Linux-based VPS from Azure.

There were 4 persons - project manager, designer, front-end developer and back-end developer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to launch an innovative (in Poland) distribution business model, based on cooperation with a financial influencer, who initiated educational process during webinars and invited customers to carry on the process on web application and obtain personalized, needs-based, insurance offers.

The project management was perfect - effective because we've met all deadlines, and flexible because we could, to some extent, take into account unforeseen changes to the project. Our communication tool was MS Teams.

This is definitely the prospect of client's success. We experienced unique service standards where client satisfaction and relationship were more important than profit. Their strict adherence to the scope of the contract.

I'm the type of customer that would appreciate more of our commitment to the technical details decision process.

We wanted to develop a mobile app for our warehouse employees. Our goal was to help them to locate products on warehouse which improves our customer service and shortens our work time.

The company was recommended by one of my co-worker. They presented themselves very well on first meeting. I found them very friendly.

We had a series online meetings where we were discussing about goals and objectives. We also had operational meeting where project manager and programmer meet our warehouse workers to discuss about software requirements from warehouse worker point of view. Within two months we started to use core version of application on production environment which later was developed and tested.

We worked close with project manager. Occasionally we interacted with UEX specialist and programmer.

After 5 months after implementation first version of application we are able to precisely locate almost 9000 pallets of products. Time of delivering products to our customers has shortened. Labour costs have also decreased.

Communication with project manager was very clear and easy. We had interaction by e-mail, online meetings and phone calls. We also had in person meeting. Timelines were adapted to the possibilities.

The most impressive thing was the level of understanding of our process by Yellows sp. z o.o. They were very determined to fully understand it. Very unique about this company was that they were very friendly and transparent.

I have no idea what improvement they could do. I rather think that we as requirements provider could do couple things better.

We had an initial version of the iOS and Android app. The Android version was unfinished and had bugs. We were looking for someone experienced to replace the previous developer. The aim was to remove bugs, improve the application architecture, commercial implementation and further development of new functionalities.

Yellows was recommended to us by a business partner, we assessed the competences of the programmer during the interview. The programmer appeared to have programming skills, was communicative and spoke English very well. The head of the IT department was also present at the interview, who introduced us to the company's profile and explained the possible rules of cooperation.

Deciding factors - considerable experience of the programmer, good flow during the conversation, reasonable financial conditions.

We mainly contacted the developer (Mid Kotlin Developer) to discuss the backlog tasks and plan the next deployments. We contacted the company's administration regarding billing matters.

During the 6 months of cooperation, we released 12 new versions of the application.

Yellows was flexible in terms of communication tools. Messenger was a convenient tool for us, and Yellows accepted and used it. We also had some phone and video calls. They use Slack and Teams on a daily basis. The deliverables were delivered on time and the code was of high quality.

Fast task execution time and programmer availability - we contacted at different times and usually the response came very quickly

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Redmine is not the best solution for managing backlog. They could consider switching to a better tool, such as Jira.

We have done together and are still doing many projects related to simplifying appointments for visits and a lot of process of patient service in our center. We have managed to implement many solutions that significantly optimize working time and automate many processes that previously ran much slower and "manually".

We lunch 2 big project - Patient Portal and app for our Specialist. And in each product we introduce hundreds of smaller and larger solutions that improve this product.
