Design a cycling jersey and art deck in memory of a child who passed away from Childhood cancer. Incorporating our colors, memories, thoughts and ideas within the guidelines of a jersey template. We also designed a sticker from the artwork and a logo made from another child's artwork.

• YellowDog and Jen specifically were kind, courteous and timely in both projects we worked on. She was able to follow our vision and create things that surpassed our expectations every step of the way. I couldn't be happier with the artwork and the true nature of the children they honor in the final products.

Everyone at YellowDog was a 10 out of 10 for communication and timeliness, they frankly kept me on track. Responsive at every step of the project, polite and very organized.

I loved that YellowDog is locally owned and based in Denver, but I was really wowed by the quality of their work. Truly every design has been so much better than my own vision for the product.

I'd like to get them riding on my team too! Other than that, I would not have changed a thing!

I am the former Director of Marketing and Communications at the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce.

For what projects/services did your company hire YellowDog Denver?

We hired YellowDog several times during my tenure at the Chamber. The projects were mostly event-related and entailed collateral design and printing.

SOLUTION

How did you select Yellow Dog Denver and what were the deciding factors?

We turned to YellowDog when we needed solid events design work on a shorter timeline and reasonable budget.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We had contracted another designer to put together the overall look and feel for our biggest fundraiser, Boots 'n Business. YellowDog took that design and created an event program, table cards and nametag template.

They worked with our marketing staff to send proofs of materials and make edits. If we were going beyond hours or scope, they communicated immediately with us. When the products were final, they sent us the final files (nametag template) and printed collateral for us to pick up (programs and table cards).

The table cards were particularly intense, because we had constant changes in the companies listed on each card leading up to the event. YellowDog handled all changes with ease from our perspective.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

YellowDog took the initial designer's concept and seamlessly created programs, table cards and nametags. They delivered everything on time. The collateral was high quality. We received compliments on the materials from attendees. They also communicated when our project was going beyond the initial estimate, so there were no surprises with the final cost.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very easy. They responded quickly to our changes and questions. Communication was open and simple.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were so positive. This was an intense event, and they rolled with the changes we sent them, showing great patience And it was all high-quality!

No, I will continue to turn to them for design support.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to develop a cohesive brand look across all visual aspects of our marketing. Yellowdog helped us achieve this through brand standards and guides the developed with our initial logo request.

Our firm has worked with YellowDog for our other brands in the past. They came to us initially through a personal contact within our firm, but sense our initial work with them, we do not seek out other firms. YellowDog is always our first go-to.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

With the help of YellowDog, we were able to launch the new business with a cohesive, developed brand aesthetic. We did not have the capacity to do this internally, so with YellowDog's help we were able to focus our time on launching operations without having to worry about branding.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We consider YellowDog to be an extension of our team. Anything we need is always just an email away. YellowDog is super quick to respond, communicative, and so easy to work with on design development and edits.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

YellowDog always delivers exceptional work. We are continually impressed by their attention to detail, supurb designs, and their ability to keep us on-brand through everything they do.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Its amazing that YellowDog has shifted to a virtual working world along with us. We no longer have to travel into their office for design reviews or discussions. However, this means I do not get to see the dogs, and this is a problem for me.

I’m the executive director of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA), a nonprofit corporation. Our members are around 4,000 artists who live all over the world.

What challenge were you trying to address with Yellow Dog Denver?

Yellow Dog has helped us since 2017 with design work, particularly for logos and brochures to recruit new members. They design our quarterly journal, as well as our exhibition catalogs each year.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Yellow Dog has developed several logos for us, including our main one, that we used for the redesign of our website. They also design logos for each exhibition we do. They work on our 50-page print journal’s design too, which we produce quarterly, and that goes out to all our members. 

Moreover, we do 5–6 exhibitions each year, and they produce, design, and print the catalogs for each of these art exhibitions.  

What is the team composition?

We mainly work with Jen (Creative Director), who’s a senior designer. She has assigned tasks to some of the other designers as needed, but she is our main point of contact. 

How did you come to work with Yellow Dog Denver?

Jen was recommended to us by our own designer, who needed to cut back on how much time she was spending on our work. She had previously worked with Jen and thought she had done a fantastic job.

We spent $57,000 in 2019 and $62,000 in 2020.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the communication in May 2017, and it has been ongoing since.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The success we have is we never get any complaints. People are thrilled with how the publications look. They’re one of our main selling points for recruiting new members and sponsors. The new logo allowed us to redesign our website, which had been looking old and tired. The redesign gave our site a fresh look, which has been a very important part of our marketing since we’re a virtual organization and the main front-facing part of our organization is our website.

They’ve been fantastic. Jen keeps us on track.

I can’t think of anything. We are extremely pleased with our relationship.

They gave us several drafts and options before landing on a finished product that, to this day, we are very pleased with and holds up under the Colorado elements. After a final draft, the install team was able to put up our large window decals within a day.

We have seen a large increase in local street awareness that has translated into new business throughout the years. Prior the the install, people didn't know what our building was. YellowDog Denver gave us the awareness that we need.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I love working with people who are mission-driven and care about the values and purpose of this work. This project isn't like other types of corporate marketing and rather centered around the betterment of the community. YellowDog has always led with that initiative which has made working with them easy and fun.

Are there any areas for improvement or something YellowDog Denver could have done differently?

We have been working within a challenging system of varying levels of bureaucracy, creating several bottlenecks that are outside all of our control. YellowDog has had to make pivots and extend lead times in order to combat the bottlenecks. 

Having each version of marketing collateral in one folder and waiting until a version gets final feedback before moving to the next version would make lag times for first-round approvals easier and less confusing. We have recently had to adjust the messaging to be more emotive, so we will see how well that adjustment is incorporated in the marketing collateral.
