Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The final videos were really good, in a funny and lovely way. The platform isn’t live yet, but our clients saw the videos and loved them.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Overall, it was a really easy process. Their communication was good, which made everything clear.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were always fast and on point with all the tasks we gave them. The timing of each step was perfect. We plan to work with them for our future video productions because they did such good work.

Not from our side. They did everything they could.

We needed a branding video to advance our relationship with various tourist offices. Our main objective was to hire a firm that could deliver solutions within a specific timeline.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wow-How Studio produced a digital animation video describing who we are, how we help customers, and what makes us unique to the market. They handled everything from the product’s ideation to the eventually delivery. That includes making decisions regarding the video’s design, scale, and color scheme. They also helped with copywriting, music composition, and voiceovers. Their team came up with viable solutions, so it was an easy collaboration.

An assigned a project manager was our primary point of contact. However, they allocated at least 12 different resources throughout the project.

Their account manager contacted us via LinkedIn shortly after we decided to move forward with the project. We appreciated Wow-How Studio’s professionalism and polished portfolio. Their attractive example videos helped solidify our decision to hire them. We don’t usually agree to collaborations after a LinkedIn contact, but we went for it in this case.

This project took place from July–November 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Tourist offices are our target audiences, so it’s difficult to speak about the video’s reach. Instead of posting the animation to social media, we’re using it during meetings and conference calls. However, the video surpassed our internal expectations. The finished product is over two minutes in length and was delivered ahead of schedule. Getting the details right took longer than we initially predicted, but we’re thrilled with the outcome.

How did Wow-How Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

Wow-How Studio led a professional, fast-moving, and accommodating project. We may have been slow to give feedback from our side, but they were always moving things forward. I couldn’t rate them any higher.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Everything about them is excellent. They’re proactive, creative, and easy to work with. Their project manager is an especially valuable resource.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. I can think of any substantial criticisms.

Then, they submitted several storyboard options for our feedback. After a brief iterative process, we landed on a final draft. Wow-How Studio provided illustrations that accurately reflected our vision. Finally, they animated and produced the video, including the voiceover audio.

They assigned a project manager who efficiently led the project. Sometimes, a few of their designers would sit in on meetings to directly hear our feedback and ask any questions.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

After completing the video and launching our marketing campaign, we experienced a massive increase in web traffic. We’ve also received very positive feedback on our image from our target audience.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was easy. We had a weekly Skype call and handled day-to-day needs through Slack. They met every deadline.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were extremely accommodating. We requested a 2D animated video that resembled a 3D one—it was a bit complex. With their knowledge and skill, Wow-How Studio delivered a video that met all of our requirements. The visual effects were amazing, and they still managed to stay within our budget.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything can be done faster, but we’re satisfied with their work overall. In the end, quality is more important than speed.

Their team returned with three style options, which we then refined together to find the right mood for the videos. They created detailed storyboards with on-screen text and illustrations for each scene. Once we approved their work, they finalized the project by coloring and animating the images.

We primarily communicated through Google Hangouts. They were available around the clock and could answer our questions through videos, calls, and messages. They provided excellent and open communication, which helped us meet our tight deadlines.

Although we had a small timeframe, it would have been beneficial if their team further refined a few of the complex graphics.

This video allows us to clearly explain the methodology we use. It works, and we receive many compliments on it. While it’s still very early to find any improvements to make, we can already say that we’ve made ourselves known for the general layout of the video.

The project is ongoing, so we don’t have results yet. However, the quality of the work has been strong, and we are satisfied, so far.

I'm the managing director of a company that publishes children's books. We created an animated character called Larry the London Bus.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wow-How Studio?

We contacted Wow-How Studio about creating a road safety video for our brand. In the past, we've only worked with individual animators. They’re the first studio we’ve used.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our in-house illustrator supplied all the models for Wow-How Studio. We sent them an animatic and a brief outlining what we wanted. Based on these materials, they created a minute-and-10-second video with animation and songs. 

Wow-How Studio provided modeling, rigging, and illustrations. Solving a problem with the render took some back and forth, but that wasn't their fault. The one we'd been using is now defunct, so they had to bring it into a new render farm. After they submitted the final product, we published it on YouTube. 

What is the team composition? 

My two account executives were Anna (Project Manager, Wow-How Studio) and Tanya (Business Development Manager, Wow-How Studio). They worked with their team of illustrators and animators. 

How did you come to work with Wow-How Studio?

I found Wow-How Studio online. Price was a critical factor in our hiring decision. They were much more affordable than some of the other quotes I received from people I usually used. This was their first job for us, so I gave them a chance to see how things went. It took quite a long time to finish the video, but that was partly my fault. It wasn't a rush job, and I didn't have a specific deadline. 

How much have you invested with them?

In total, we've spent about $7,000. The video cost $6,000, and we paid $1,000 for the illustrations.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in late 2016. I started off by having them do a few illustrations to show me their style. They started creating the video in 2017.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Wow-How Studio has done a great job. Our friends, family, and staff members from the office who’ve seen the animation think it's brilliant. We haven't published the video yet; it’s stored on a hard drive while we finish building all our products. We're going to go live with it in two months right before rolling out our plan for product releases over the next year.

How did Wow-How Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

Wow-How Studio’s correspondence was brilliant. They provided extensive, useful feedback. The two project managers were my only points of contact. They quickly responded to all our emails and were always available for Skype calls whenever I needed to speak with them. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Wow-How Studio was very helpful and efficient. They offered excellent service, and we will be using them again. We're just about to start the process of making five new videos at five minutes each. They're going to send us a quote for the 25 total minutes of animation. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not really.  It would have been nice to see the product and assess it throughout each stage. That's partly down to me, though, because I never made that request. In the future, we will ask them to complete a couple of minutes for us to review, rather than waiting for the entire finished video. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Not really. Wow-How Studio did a great job, and I can't recommend them enough.

We contacted a short list of vendors. After the initial discussions with each, I felt that Wow-How Studio’s personal feel and care in following up with us showed their dedication to the project.

We began with a call to review the script for the video they would be making. This was followed by a feedback session in which we reviewed any questions and the final script. We continued with storyboarding and clarifying the highly technical aspects of the process. After this, they began the video production. Our video used a 2D whiteboard animation that required complex details. We then went through 5-6 rounds of feedback from our management team.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

We had daily communication with the project lead and department manager. The project leader communicated on behalf of their animators and the department manager gave us multiple updates on the status of their work.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Their project leaders gave us constant status reports and feedback. Though their team was in a different time zone, the collaboration worked great. We received updates and responses almost daily. We give them high praise on their communication skills.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Though I had initial hesitations about not working with a local company, Wow-How Studio has truly delivered throughout the project. Though the project is small in size, we feel their dedication to it and they’ve exceeded expectations. They don’t mind the multiple rounds of feedback we have for them and they give us enough opportunities to communicate with them. They’ve done a great job handling the project.

We decided to hire Wow-How based in their extensive portfolio, quality of work, and outstanding reputation in the mobile game industry. They were also a bit cheaper than comparable American companies.

They worked with us directly in our project management platform, Asana. They designed the early map and early features of our game using Adobe Illustrator.

We had a project manager that managed communication between us and the team. She was very knowledgeable and easy to get along with. She primarily worked with 2 designers who managed the art composition.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We are very satisfied with the outcomes of the project. The Wow-How team reliably delivered high-quality results on schedule. The work that Wow-How provided saved us time and resources on something that would usually be particularly consuming for our team.

Their team broke down the project and set milestones according to what our development team needed. As I mentioned, we used Asana as a collaboration tool.

They provide a wide range of expertise in a multitude of relevant areas, including VR and 3D modelling. Also, it was very helpful to have a project manager that spoke perfect English.

We would’ve liked to see a bit more resource flexibility, but we were very satisfied with the engagement overall.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our clients are happy, and so are we. We receive the videos we need with little effort on our side.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We easily brought Wow-How into our production management and review process. Since we use Shotgun in-house, they quickly adopted this management tool. Their internal project management works well, so we’ve had no issues at all during production. They always meet deadlines, even if it requires overtime work. Plus, we do not have to explain things over and over.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I can only say good things about the Wow-How team. We appreciate their dedication, friendliness, and accessibility. It is important for us to build trust in our partners based on communication and backed up by delivered results. Fortunately, Wow-How covers both points. I always have the impression that we are working towards a common goal.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We wouldn't mind getting more out-of-the-box designs. Otherwise, we have no complaints.
