We run Baja Llama, a DTC apparel brand, and we brought WKND Agency in to take over paid media and creative after a stretch where our growth had flattened out. They handle a lot for us now: Meta Ads management, Google Ads management, AI performance creative and AI UGC, plus our full email and SMS marketing program. On the paid side that means campaign strategy, audience targeting, budget allocation, and constant creative testing rather than set it and forget it. On the retention side they rebuilt our core email flows, reworked our customer segmentation, and put an actual retention strategy in place instead of one off sends. The creative output is where they separate from the other shops we talked to. As an AI creative agency they take our existing brand assets, copy, and messaging and turn them into a real volume of testable ads, AI UGC included, without us having to run a new shoot every month. What changed things operationally was Growth Atlas, their reporting system. We finally had net sales, ad spend, customer acquisition cost, and marketing efficiency ratio sitting in one place. Tommy Patterson then used that to run growth forecasting with us and tie those numbers to real decisions: what we should spend, what we could actually support with inventory, and what the growth plan looked like quarter to quarter. The business consulting has been worth as much to us as the media buying. On results, the trajectory is what matters. We went into the summer wanting to share, and WKND was straight with us that scaling that hard would cost us efficiency in the short term. It did, and we signed off on it. May came in 66.5% up and June 67.9% up year over year, and across May through August our net sales grew 30.2%. Then they consolidated. August delivered 28.1% more net sales on essentially unchanged ad spend, with marketing efficiency ratio improving from 2.27 to 2.91, a 28% efficiency gain in a single month. That is the number I watch, because it means the growth is now compounding instead of being bought. What I value most is that Tommy manages the incremental dollar rather than a blended average. He told us upfront what the next dollar of spend would and would not return at each stage, which is why the efficiency dip was a decision we made together instead of a surprise on a report. Most agencies show you a blended ROAS and hope you do not ask the follow up question. If you are a DTC brand looking for a paid media and AI creative agency that will actually connect the ad account to the P&L, this is the team.

We worked with other agencies in the past, but we weren’t happy with them because they subcontracted their work. We found them on an Instagram ad that we liked and reached out to them. We chose WKND Digital because they were the only agency that was vertically integrated.

We’ve spent $150,000–$200,000 with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

In terms of metrics, we measure the engagement’s success by the money we’re making through their work, and that’s where we’re noticing they value as a partner. I can’t say enough good things about them — they’re the only agency that has done everything they promise, and they’ll do whatever it takes to make our business profitable.

They have strong project management; we have Slack conversations and biweekly calls, keeping everything organized 24/7. WKND Digital’s team is extensive and focused on reaching our goals profitability, which is a big point for us. They also take complete responsibility to ensure our success.

They’re focused on our business’ success, and they responsibly do that. WKND Digital is sensitive to our brand and where we want to be in the market. In addition to that, they’re fun to work with and fun people — they’re an extension of our team.

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on.

Trust them, let them do their work, and don’t try to engineer; you can be part of the process, but they know what they’re doing.

We provide shipping services to companies. We leverage our volume for better rates on parcel services with everyday carriers. We can bring shipping rates to small businesses that allow them to be competitive with Fortune 5000 competition. I am the owner of company.

We are so confident that we can save companies money on shipping and our team to find savings in their current process, that we hired WKND to advertise this offer for us. If WKND set an appointment with a business and we fail to find shipping savings, we sent the client $100 cash for their time. The project was/is incredibly successful.

Fill our rep's calendars with high quality appointments with companies that have shipping needs.

The owner of the WKND started on the first call with us with his assistant. Then he has a team of 3 marketers, a project manager, a relationship manager, and his assistant. All of which have been on every call throughout our relationship.

We have a record number of online appointments set on our reps' calendars. These appointments are also higher quality with better turnout than our calling team currently sets.

It is incredible effective. Their slack channel allows them to be always available for any questions we have. Their turnaround time for questions is faster than we have seen with any other digital marketing company. It is usually less than 1 hour.

The owner Tom, and the buy-in he has with his team. They are the best and they know it. If you work with WKND Digital you are working with the best in the industry.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

In the beginning they were "all hands on deck" but after they failed to beat our past ROI and couldn't scale after 3 months, delivery on new creative when from 1 week to 3 weeks and we were passed down the line to non-english speaking designers. They were supposed to have us review all creative - that stopped after a few weeks. Later we discovered that the ads they were running were mis-spelled and the copy was incoherent.
