I am a managing director of a software development company. My main responsibilities lie in the area of customer success management. Our clients come from all walks of business, from startups, to mature organisations and well known brands. We help them scope and develop software that helps their companies gather and visualise data vital to their businesses.

For what projects/services did your company hire Wise People?

We hired Wise People to design and develop our new website. Our old one, made with a ready-to-use Wordpress template, was heavy and became very inconvenient to use with time. It was the right moment to decide on a custom made website, that wouldn't give our marketing managers headaches.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to come up with the first version of the website as quickly as possible and then, once the first version is live, build additional subpages. We wanted a clean and elegant design that would engage users and showcase our portfolio.

How did you select this vendor?

Before we chose the vendor, we made a research of design agencies that worked on websites for software companies. Out of the ones we shortlisted, Wise People were the most open-minded and flexible in terms of cooperation. We were able to start quite fast and adjust the way we worked to the vision of building an MVP first. It worked our very well.

Wise People ran discovery workshops to understand our company, our values and the way we work with our clients. Then, they created mood boards to show proposed styles, colours and layouts. When we chose the direction, their team started to work on the designs. I think they nailed it in the second version. Once the designs for the essential pages were done, they proceeded with development.

What was the team composition?

We were able to keep the same team for the entire cooperation. There was a UI designer, UX designer, a developer and a project manager in the team.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Launching the new version of the website allowed us to showcase our products like never before. We were able to easily create new and various subpages thanks to modular design with modules we could show or hide. The new design resulted in a conversion growth of 200%.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We used Trello for project management and Slack for daily communication. I find both tools enough for a project like ours. We kicked off fast and with impressive pace, but went through some turbulence after the MVP phase. Fortunately, the team at Wise People was opened to feedback and we managed to keep up with the pace and responsiveness afterwards.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I find them honestly interested in their clients' businesses. They put a lot of attention in understanding the circumstances in which their clients operate. I'm sure it's their secret weapon in delivering the right design for the right client.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We had some misunderstandings and communication issues coming form the fact that not all team members were available for our project from the beginning. It made us rephrase and repeat the same things for a few times, which was frustrating. We were able to fix it after a feedback session Wise People took very seriously.

I cannot say that there were no hiccups on the way. But they were solved and most of the items were delivered on time. Wise People is extremely responsive and supportive. One can feel that the goals are shared and we were truły working on them together.
