I’m the CEO of 3DTeleprint, a streaming service for 3D printing.

I needed help with developing an OS for a single-board computer.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wellnuts developed the OS we needed from scratch, using Elixir and Erlang as the main technologies. This OS allows remote control of additive manufacturing machines.

I worked directly with at least five people from Wellnuts, including Max (CEO), Anton (Head of Delivery), and a lead OS designer.

I found them on Upwork.

We spent over $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January 2021–November 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Wellnuts’ work met our expectations. Max was very detail-oriented and did what he promised.

How did Wellnuts perform from a project management standpoint?

Wellnuts managed our expectations regarding deadlines and budgets correctly. We were directly involved in the development process. Each week, we did testing as Wellnuts delivered and released new features and versions of existing features. We tested everything on our development environment before pushing it to production; it was a very collaborative process.

As for communication, Wellnuts invited us to the project management tools they used internally. However, I didn’t care about using collaboration tools, so I just communicated with them via email. They were still very responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Wellnuts’ communication was outstanding; they were great communicators, especially considering the language barrier. Moreover, they were very professional the entire time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not really. Wellnuts’ work was limited to and by us; if we hadn’t been on their way, maybe they would have done an even better job.

I’m a project manager at a global software company that builds mobile apps for the insurance sector.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wellnuts?

We needed support with the development of a specific product for our organization.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wellnuts helped us create UI/UX wireframe designs for a mobile app solution and a web-based portal. Additionally, they recommended React Native as the language we should use for the backend architecture to create this solution. Initially, we provided them with the set of features we were looking for, and they took those to develop the wireframes.

The product that Wellnuts helped us create was a fully commercial telematics solution. It was built for both iOS and Android and had an ingestion gateway to support on-board diagnostics (OBD) devices. Additionally, it included a fleet management portal.

What is the team composition?

We worked with four people from Wellnuts, including a designer, a backend architect, a project manager, and a product owner.

How did you come to work with Wellnuts?

Wellnuts was recommended to us by a colleague who had seen them work on a prior iteration of a similar solution. They had a lot of experience and background in building a commercial solution for what we were looking for, both from the backend and UI/UX development standpoints. Thus, we decided to hire them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $25,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from May–October 2022. We had to end the engagement due to budget constraints.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Given that we had to end the engagement before the product took off, we don’t have any hard metrics about Wellnuts’ work. Still, their performance was very good, and they were able to deliver on all of our requests.

How did Wellnuts perform from a project management standpoint?

Wellnuts’ project management was excellent in all areas, and they delivered their work in a very short period of time. As for collaboration tools, we used monday.com, Jira, Figma, and Miro.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Wellnuts’ availability was excellent. Given that they’re also a global company, they were able to work with us in multiple time zones.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No.

Wellnuts was an excellent partner to work with, bringing to the table just the right combination of collaborative attitude along with project management and agile development disciplines. Wellnuts established the right meeting cadence in order to aggressively develop product requirements under very tight deadlines while managing effective communication in order to keep the project on track and maintaining a stream of inputs for anything that was needed in order to achieve milestones and timelines.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They provided the knowledge, expertise and capabilities to be the perfect development partner, but that was just table stakes. Their true differentiated value was a breadth of technical expertise to provide a range of technical/solution recommendations that gave us options to pursue reflecting intimate knowledge of the market place. This is not a partner who needs their hands held. They are very proactive in recommending and delivering knowledge-based deliverables at every project stage. This resulting in a collaborative product whose sum is much greater than either party would have produced on their own

I am a representative of a software development company. Our company provides software development and related consulting services to our clients with the help of our partners.

The project was to develop a system to synchronize the files of two systems, each of which has its own Web API.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We interviewed several vendors and went with the one that had the best understanding of the project and the best technical outlook.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

In this project, we explained that we need to synchronize files using the Web APIs provided in the two independent systems, and that we need a GUI to manipulate them. We also told them that we wanted the system to be built on AWS. The vendor suggested that we use the Go language, which we did.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We had two people for project management and communication, and one engineer working for us from this vendor for this project.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The deadline we originally set was a little short for the work to be done and the level of difficulty, but they completed the system faster than the deadline. After the completion of the system, we requested several revisions due to business needs, but they were always completed quickly and with good quality.

Requirements and issues were described and managed in Trello. Communication during development was mainly done via Slack.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The development speed and work quality of this vendor are extremely good. I also felt that they were very good at accurately specifying and implementing our requests.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It may have been due to the time difference, but there were some communication timing issues early in the project. However, this was remedied on the vendor's side before it became serious, and the problem has been gone since then.

At the time of this project, I was the Director of Product at Modernist, a boutique social club in San Francisco. Modernist utilizes an in-house technology platform to operate the business and interact with members.

For what projects/services did your company hire Wellnuts Creative Group?

We hired Wellnuts Creative Group to help us build out a React Native Hybrid app for iOS and Android. They built the React Native functionality, the front end screens, and hooked our backend to the new front end based on my requirements and design documentation.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to launch version one of our member mobile app.

How did you select this vendor?

After interviewing a number of freelance developers and agencies, we felt that Wellnuts checked all of the boxes we were looking for: - Skilled/experienced in React Native development - Great communication and easy to work with - Did not require us to mico-manage - Possessed the ability to scale our dev resources up or down based on our needs - Competitive pricing

Describe the project in detail.

When we hired Wellnuts, we were ready to begin dev. I already had the majority of the project's requirements, user interactions, and front end design specced and designed. For the first few weeks, we had semiweekly stand up calls to check in on status and ensure everything was progressing. They were very flexible with this while being on a 10 hour time difference. Once we felt comfortable working with them, we handled most of our communication via skype chat or Asana. The team provided front end prototypes for most screens and handled feedback and new requests quickly without any issues. They also helped us set up Crashlytics and uploading new builds into App Store Connect and Google Play Console.

What was the team composition?

Our contract had an hourly rate of $38.00 with a weekly Limit of 40 hrs/week.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The app launched to our members successfully in Feb 2020, however that is around the time that the Caronavirus started to spread and all the companies clubhouse had to be closed down. Unfortunately, this has negatively impacted the usage, engagement, and adoption of the app and there are very few metrics to report as of now.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Based on the 10-hour tie difference, the workflow worked great. I attempted to anticipate any potential questions/issues and answer them in my documentation to ensure development kept progressing smoothly and if the team was blocked, they would work on other parts of the project until we were able to respond.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

This was my first time working with developers in different countries in a distributed team. The experience was great and we felt very lucky and grateful to have found them. Their collaboration, communication, accountability, and the quality of the end product was great.

Are there any areas for improvement?

While nothing is ever perfect, I feel the main challenges arise from our distributed location and time difference.

Our company focuses on IT services for Retail. I work as a manager.

For what projects/services did your company hire Wellnuts, and what were your goals?

We developed an online consultant for a network of salons selling digital equipment and sim cards. At the beginning of the project, we had our own development team, but in March 2021 we decided to try outsourcing development. It was at this point that I started working with Welnuts. We had monthly deadlines for certain features. The main goal was to release functionality that was tested and working in time.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We chose Welnuts on the recommendation of a friend of mine. My colleague and I held a meeting with the Welnuts team and their developers. After the interview, we decided that the team was right for us. Nice manager, the developers know the necessary technology stack for our project.

Technologies that we used: Ruby on Rails, React, Android, ReactJS, NodeJS, GraphQL, Postgresql. The Welunts team developed 3-4 new functions every month for our project. In November, we fully completed the project.

We talked with the manager, we also talked with 3 developers. 2 Bask-end developers and 1 front-end.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our internal team was fully responsible for the result of the project. And our desire was for the Welnuts team to develop in time and tested code with automated tests. Developers dealt with deadlines and wrote quality code

We asked the guys all the main management to leave ours. Therefore, I personally formed tasks for working in teamwork, communication took place in telegram.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most important thing for us was Wellnuts' reliable code. If there were minor misunderstandings, we always quickly found a solution that suited both parties. It is also very useful for us that welnuts were provided temporarily by other developers if the main ones went on vacation or were sick. This allows you to continuously lead the development process and meet deadlines.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

In our case, everything was fine.

We used Wellnuts to develop a bespoke app for news content delivery integrated with our clients Wordpress blog site.

The App was UX/UI designed by ourselves and developed/tested by wellnuts. At the back end of the app was also detailed analytics to report back on video views etc.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was delivered to a very satisfactory standard and the app is used heavily with great results.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Some times we experienced delays in getting a response near to the completion of the project but its also worth noting that the project had slightly overrun with delays in testing. Regardless the majority of the project workflow ran really smooth.
