The initial tasks were completed efficiently, after which the team had a positive experience with the current website support from the WebMeridian team. Currently, we plan to continue working together in a new vector, or rather migrate the site to another theme.

We needed help in web development, support & maintenance of our store on an ongoing basis. To make our Magento 1 shop even better and working stable and secure.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Networking and social networks. I had several offers from web agencies from different countries, and also freelancers. Prices were similar and all the potential collaboration partners were abroad. I choose Webmeridian because I had more trust in the company than other offers. As an online based business model it is always susceptible to give full access to the website.

They provided us with consulting services, urgent support of the M1 store, update and patching, made some front-end changes and tax changes. During the cooperation, bugs were eliminated on the project, including the work of Google analytics was restored. There were some improvements added like a banner slider, the page with vegetarian meals, a new cookie extension, shipment comments in the email, and the ability to manage several tracking numbers. Some design changes and improvements have been made like text changes, font colours, pictures position.

Developers, QA engineer, Project manager and Business Analyst. I believe about 5-6 people were involved.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We improved several processes, saving handeling time for orders. Security issues were removed and emails from shop no longer lands in customer spam. User Navigation Experience for mobiles were improved. New functions on the front page makes it possible for us to work with campaigns in whole new way. We never had ressources to measure exact improvement. I want to mention, that we had huge sales increase 2020, at the most +5000%. That put pressure on the organisation, which is why it is hard to make a statement about metrics. But I am sure that this project has contributed to increased sales as also operational excellence.

I mostly had contact with the project manager and he worked On-demand and very flexible. According to my business needs and finances available.

In addition WebMeridian also takes care of the server administration. Moreover WebMeridian takes care of the ongoing maintenance of the shop and provides technical support for the daily business.

A project Manager was the main person of contact. WebMeridian provided us with four developers for this project, a business analyst and a Dev Ops Engineer.

Everything is clear in the development and communication process. We have already achieved better performance results, improved overall functioning of the store, and fixed small site issues.

We worked with their project manager Aleksei; he is a professional and managed the whole project very well. We used Jira for managing the tickets and skype for the communication (chat and call).

The company follows its work procedures and is willing to respond to the client's needs. The project manager we worked with provided excellent service. We are satisfied with the quality of work and code that we got from their development team.

It is not unusual for costs to exceed the initial estimate due to scope creep. We could have been notified earlier when we were exceeding the initial estimate. Overall, they did everything that we’ve agreed to and we were able to finish the project on time.

We searched for a technical support team that could work with our Git workflow. After a lot of calls with external programmers, we chose WebMeridian. I had a good feeling about them from the beginning.

What challenge were you trying to address with WebMeridian?

One of our clients—a photographer from Switzerland—asked us to manage the development of a website. The goal of the website was to establish an online presence for this photographer and market her company.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided the project management, and WebMeridian provided the development. The website was built with WordPress, and we had a web developer and a designer on the team. The customer bought a template, but the designer at WebMeridian made some major changes to it because what the client wanted and what she got from the template were two different things. The web developer did a great job with plugins to ensure the client got what she wanted.

Of course, there was also a QA tester, who tested the website on the usual platforms—smartphones, tablets, and web browsers. The tester found bugs, and the developer made all the changes needed to fix those.

The client didn’t have a lot of unique requirements. We did include plugins for SEO [search engine optimization] and a gallery for her photography. There isn’t an e-commerce aspect to the site or any 3D graphics, so for me, it was just a simple website for attracting new customers.

How did you come to work with WebMeridian?

I found them through a referral from a previous partner, who was a colleague of the guys at WebMeridian for some time. I asked him if he could support me with the web development, but he was too busy at the time. He suggested WebMeridian, and they were great. They not only do WordPress development, but they also make Magento online stores. They’re very good in developing the experience on those platforms.

We spent about $2,000.

The project ran for about two months in 2016, but I don’t remember when exactly.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The photographer uses the website, and it works great. She also uses social media to attract new customers to her website. She regularly updates the photos in showcases and galleries. In the past, I’ve seen holes in WordPress sites where hackers can install malware; however, WebMeridian avoided making any holes on this website. As far as I know, everything is okay. I’m very comfortable with the work done by WebMeridian.

How did WebMeridian perform from a project management standpoint?

We oversaw the project management, collecting the requirements from the customer and translating them to WebMeridian. We used Trello as a task-tracker. A task is assigned to a specific person, they make it, and we get a report.

What did you find most impressive about WebMeridian?

I’ve worked with agencies in the past who had poor performance in their development, resulting in WordPress websites with security concerns. These guys didn’t do that, and they tested the website properly on all browsers.

I also had a bad experience with other firms that just didn’t do the proper testing, so the performance was very poor. I didn’t have that issue with WebMeridian. They were great.

They did a great job. We’ve only completed one project together, and I’m happy with them.

The first team assigned to the task didn't really do what we asked. They took a different approach to content management and told us it couldn't be done any other way, although we later found out with a second team that it was indeed possible. 

After we raised our concerns with WebMeridian, we were assigned a different team who worked much faster, better and communicated more. So the beginning of the project was a bit tiring and caused unnecessary costs. After the change of team, however, I can recommend WebMeridian without reservation.
