What challenge were you trying to address with Web Destiny Solutions?

Web Destiny Solutions was hired for web development services.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The communication was really poor from day one. What should’ve taken two weeks took almost two months, and I didn’t see anything in those two months. I became frustrated and thought that proceeding would be a waste of time.

Their owner was getting upset that I was asking why it was taking so long. They had very poor communication skills and just no responsibility at all. My project wasn’t that expensive, and maybe that was why, but it was still money that I spent.

I just needed them to keep me in the loop, to let me know how things were going. I understood that there could be pauses and delays, and it was fine as long as they let me know about it.

I had to follow up every time, and all I got told was that they’d get back to me, they were working on it, or the like. Toward the end, when I questioned the owner about why it was taking so long, he told me they’d had issues with the template and had to get another one. I was never told that there was an issue until I questioned them.

For some reason, it felt like the owner didn’t really understand where I was coming from. He was getting upset because I was asking questions, and he didn’t understand that all he had to do was give me an update as to where things were, as per his job.

I told him that I’d be putting up a bad review on Google and that I was willing to give them one last opportunity to fix this. He told me that, if I posted a negative review, he could do the same thing. That was his response.

The thing is that it doesn’t affect me if he posts a negative review. We have different client bases, and I’m getting work done from him. He didn’t understand that either.

I thought I’d give him a chance, and I didn’t do it. Then, he said he’d try to fix what needed to be done, and all he gave me was literally a template that I could’ve gone and purchased for $20. I basically paid almost $300 AUD for it (approximately $230 USD). That’s what I received from him.

The template contains pretty much nothing. He told me they’d do all the designs, and I provided the images and content. What he gave me was just a template, and I had to do all of the structuring myself.

What is the team dynamic?

I didn’t have a project manager or lead assigned to me, that I know of. As I said, there was absolutely no communication. I was just chasing after the person I got the number for during the quote phase. I assumed that that person was the owner of the company because his number is on the website as well.

How did you come to work with Web Destiny Solutions?

I’d been looking for a reliable provider in India for a long time. They had fantastic reviews on Clutch and Google, so I thought I’d give them a chance.

I’m now wondering whether those reviews are actually legit or whether they’re fake. Not every review would be fake, but, if this is how they’re behaving, some of those have to be.

I knew that Clutch actually does due diligence, not like Google, where anyone can leave a review. This was one of the reasons I chose them.

What is the status of this engagement?

I received the quote from them in early-October 2020, and I made the first payment at the end of that month. It was supposed to be completed in two weeks, but it’s been two months and I haven’t received anything.

I’ve basically told them not to waste their time. I still haven’t received anything after two months, and I’ve fallen behind on going live with my business. I should’ve gone live in December 2020, but nothing was completed by then.

Right now, I’m doing everything by myself. I don’t have another provider, and I don’t have the time to look for one.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

I wanted to go live toward November 2020, and I couldn’t. This has held up my digital marketing team and my content marketing team. Worst of all, it’s delayed me as well. I don’t have LinkedIn or Facebook profiles, because I wanted to hold off on those until I had a website ready.

How was project management handled?

There was absolutely no communication. I had to initiate communication, and I told them that, if I didn’t hear back, we shouldn’t go ahead with the project.

He started getting upset, and I told him that he’d taken my money and needed to give me an update. I didn’t understand what was upsetting or rude about it.

I was really surprised that I wasn’t assigned a team lead or project manager. We communicated through WhatsApp calls.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

No. In fact, just before I let them go, I sent them an email to give them a final opportunity to give me something. He told me that he’d give me the template, and all I had to do was add the content. He sent the template, and I had to build everything from scratch.

In what specific areas can they improve?

Communication. Even if they didn’t deliver the project in two or three weeks, I wouldn’t have minded as long as they communicated it. It was only because I was communicating with him that he told me about the initial template not working.

I’m trying to get this business up and going, and I didn’t have time for this. My intention isn’t to ruin someone else’s reputation; it’s only to get the truth out there. There are a lot of good developers based in India, and people like Web Destiny Solutions give them a bad name.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

I haven’t received anything, so it’s hard to tell.

They built our e-commerce website on a WooCommerce framework using HTML and a WordPress CMS. After introducing a payment gateway, they moved onto social media marketing and SEO.

What was the team composition?

We worked with a team of graphic designers, front- and backend developers, app developers, an SEO analyst, and a project coordinator.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Initially, I felt that they lacked the knowledge to develop our project. But, as we progressed, they displayed a solid understanding of what I was looking for and executed the project the way I wanted. The website’s UI/UX is well thought out, and my investors are happy with its overall performance. Web Destiny Solutions played a leading role in helping my company expand into other countries.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

My assigned project coordinator acted as a single point of contact, listening patiently to my requests and responding to them promptly. As a developer myself, it can be frustrating when talking with non-technical people. However, the coordinator demonstrated technical expertise, which meant a great deal to me.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were down to earth and hungry to perform, providing original input that positively tweaked the product. The UI/UX was fantastic and didn’t require many revisions. Finally, and most importantly, they completed the project on time.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

They would benefit from expanding their communication tools beyond texting and emailing to include video calls and increased face-to-face interaction.

Our website was converted from PHP static pages to WordPress responsive pages. SEO ranking has been improving in all target locations. Through on-page & off pages SEO optimization. Their local backlinks are in good quality with good PA & DA.

As far as we communicated with Mr. Jinu our SPOC for this project. We know their SEO team is always working on the tasks we assigned for this project & they shared reports timely. Their development team does every small change we requested after hosting the website.
