I am the CEO of an end-to-end digital agency offering a wide range of services from marketing to content development and everything in between.

For what projects/services did your company hire WANDR?

We were looking for an agency that can help us design user experience for our web app. The goals were to keep the design simple, minimal, and engaging. The primary goal was to keep the user journey as seamless as possible.

How did you select this vendor?

We found them via Google while we were looking for UI/UX design agencies. They had a strong portfolio and we were quite pleased with the designs they had developed for other agencies. Plus, they had a really friendly team - were easy to talk to. We felt comfortable working with them - so we hired them.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

They divided the project into three phases: the first phase was market research wherein they analyzed industry trends, our target audience, and conducted interviews of ideal prospects. Post this, their team worked on the concept. They developed a rough sketch of the web app, mapped out user journey and app layout. In the final phase, they created the app’s interface. It was visually engaging and meaningful.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with their team of designers who were assigned to us. We also had a Strategist who took care of communication and ensured there weren’t any inconsistencies whatsoever.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Yes. In the most recent survey we conducted, 92% users reported they liked the look and feel of the new design. Overall, working with Jinny and her team was great. We couldn’t be happier.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We used Slack for communication and Jira for project management. They were very efficient at communication and drove the project proactively. We had meetings weekly wherein we used to look at their concepts and designs.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their team is a joy to work with. They bring in the same amount of energy to the work they do. The designs they developed were not only fresh but very meaningful and aesthetically pleasing. They also ensured the project was completed on time and kept us updated at every step. We are very happy with their services.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing peculiar. The good part about them is that they actively seek feedback and get things right.

What challenge were you trying to address with WANDR?

We needed help with our prototype and pitch deck design.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We entered into WANDR’s startup bootcamp program to receive a prototype and a pitch deck. It was a 30-day turnaround to get in and out.

First, we had a kickoff meeting, and then we had weekly update meetings, sometimes even multiple times a week. We worked together to figure out what we needed in our MVP. Secondly, WANDR ran user tests and did more market research to validate our initial thoughts. Finally, they helped us create one clean, great-looking pitch deck to bring to investors later on.

What is the team composition?

Before we began the project, we spoke to the sales team. Then, we worked with a project manager, two people from the design team, and someone on the backend on business development. All the employees were top-notch.

How did you come to work with WANDR?

A consultant was helping us with some of the technical sides of building a startup. They connected with WANDR’s CEO on LinkedIn and spoke briefly to her about our project.

Then, the previous CTO put me in touch with the CEO and the head of business development at WANDR. We went on Clutch and spoke with some of their previous clients. WANDR had worked with renowned and established companies, and everyone spoke highly of them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from June–July 2021. It was a 4-week contract, and it ended right on time.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We tested the prototype with a few other users, and everyone loved it. We were very happy with it. Moreover, we’ve sent the pitch deck to a few investors before our official pitch meetings with them, and they’ve really loved the look and feel.

One investor in particular said that it was the best-looking pitch he’s ever seen. Since he has invested in several startups and seen tens of thousands of pitch decks, that definitely says something about WANDR. Overall, we’re on a great path towards going live in a short time.

How did WANDR perform from a project management standpoint?

The project manager was our single point of contact, and she was excellent. She sent frequent updates via email or Slack, depending on what was more convenient to us. We also had regular Zoom calls with the whole team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s hard to pick one thing because they were on top of it on every angle. They nailed the timeline; we didn’t go over our contract length. Also, communication was easy. If we needed someone besides the project manager, we could always get a hold of anybody on the team.

However, the deliverables were the most impressive part of working with WANDR. They excelled at them — the prototype was simply phenomenal.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they were great. The experience was very collaborative, and we’ll continue working with WANDR.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Let them do what they excel at. The unique thing about working with WANDR was how collaborative the experience was. We set out the goal and objective and worked together to accomplish it.

What was the scope of their involvement?

WANDR basically redesigned the UX of our product. They initially performed a UX audit and then designed the system for our use. The final deliverable was a functional mockup in Figma for us to essentially use as our MVP

At one point, we had about five people working on our project.

I ultimately found them via Clutch. After we started communicating with them, they provided us with samples of their previous work. Their team gave us a tentative project plan with what they would be able to accomplish. We compared them to other agencies, but WANDR was competitive and had the best idea.

We collaborated on this project between November 2020–January 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Without WANDR, we wouldn’t have been able to effectively communicate our product’s value proposition.

How did WANDR perform from a project management standpoint?

We had a shared Slack channel with them, and their team was available almost 24/7. If we had a question, they were able to answer it promptly.  We also communicated via Zoom and collaborated in Figma.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have nuanced B2B UX experience, so they understood our priorities. That was one of their standout qualities. Their team was also from around the world. The variety of their backgrounds was noticeable, and we appreciated that their team was able to come to the table with different perspectives. That led to a better end result.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t know how they could improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

UX design requires collaboration, so it’s not necessarily a project to just hand off to any agency. Customers should be involved in the project.

I’m the SVP of design at a software company that specializes in mobile game development using a no-code desktop application.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wandr?

We hired Wandr to do an audit for the UX of our game development product as well as some UI work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

To start, we broke up the project into sprints. The first was a discovery phase where we provided them with a list of new and pro users to interview. They also sourced additional feedback from our target audience demographic. The team went ahead and conducted user and market research to see what was currently out there along with the general sentiments toward our software.

From there, we started to focus on the touchpoints when a user logged into the product. They worked with us to develop some new design concepts for the UI and proposed ideas for the user flow. After creating prototypes, they tested them with our new and pro users, collected feedback, and made adjustments.

Wandr then presented their findings to our team. We discussed the mock-ups and user feedback, agreeing on any design tweaks before giving our approval.

Next, they provided the prototype along with any Figma files, user stories for every new feature, and screen mock-ups in JPEG and PNG. We also received an information architecture flowchart. Our internal engineers and designers would implement it into Jira to go into development.

What is the team composition? 

We have three active Wandr team members embedded with us: there are the project manager and two designers. On the support side, we worked with Giovanni (Director of Business Development) who managed our overall account.

How did you come to work with Wandr?

I did a ton of research on Clutch. I looked at multiple providers, tapped into my network of contacts, and made decisions based on there. We vetted at least five UX agencies in the US, looking for providers who have had desktop or specific application experience.

We chose Wandr because we really liked their collaborative, professional approach. Their team seemed very hands-on and dedicated, which turned out to be true. They were very communicative, too. They checked in often to make sure that everything was on track. That was the kind of engagement that I was looking for: someone who would be more of a partner rather than just a vendor.

What is the status of this engagement?

We fully engaged them in mid-September 2020 and are working on extending our contract with them through the end of this year.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The user feedback that we got from their prototype testing was all very positive. However, we haven’t deployed any of the new features for our product yet because they’re still in development. We won’t know the real impact of those changes until we’ve actually implemented and deployed the new features in the product.

How did Wandr perform from a project management standpoint?

The project management was divided between the teams. We maintained our Jira account as is while they were sprinting on design sprints. Those didn’t need to be integrated into our Jira account.

To communicate, they used dedicated Slack channels, email, phone, and Zoom. We also had weekly stand-ups and sprint kick-off meetings. Every once in a while, we would do demos and drinks where they could show off what they were working on to our entire organization. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I really like their hands-on approach because it made them feel more like a partner. It was huge that they were flexible, too. That made for amazing customer service. Finally, their design process was great.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything based on the context of our engagement.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re working with them on a given product, it’s beneficial to go onboard them onto your product with your proper team. That’s one thing we would’ve done differently. We had a pretty complex piece of software, so it would’ve been better if we had more sessions with them upfront to go through the ins-and-outs of the product.

They responded to our post on Upwork. We looked at several companies, but WANDR stood out to us. We liked that the team was young and that their pricing was comparable. We felt they were the best fit for us.

We began working together around March 2020, and our engagement is ongoing.

We appreciate their adaptability and the way they go with the flow of new ideas we throw at them. They do quality work, and always help us solve challenges that arise. We’ve got no complaints.

How did WANDR perform from a project management standpoint?

The project manager is highly organized, always has a plan, and leads the weekly meetings. She’s incredible.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are agile and accommodating to our specific needs. They listen to us and do their best to give us what we ask for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

WANDR switched designers halfway through the project. While I understand, it would’ve been nice to keep the same person all the way through the engagement.

They like to manage the project and stick to their schedules. They’re great for startups.

I’m the founder and CEO of Crowdlink. We’re a digital marketing platform. Essentially, it’s a native web and mobile application that allows content creators to leverage their fan base for digital marketing purposes.

We had a high-level business plans, but we hired them to help us through the ideation process.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

 They offer a startup bootcamp. We went through UX/UI, design, and user testing. Then they helped us build an investor deck.

They delivered a working prototype that would outline the UX from the content creator standpoint as well as the fan standpoint. They mapped out the experience from the first time a fan hears about the platform to when they become an active customer.

They designed assets to show what the product would look like once it was coded. They did not build the platform because they’re designers. They created wireframes and then turned those into usable prototypes that are production-ready.

Then they delivered a working prototype that explains the desktop workflow for content creators. And they designed the mobile experience for the fan.

Finally, they delivered an investor deck that includes Google Slides that help us communicate our business model and how we intend to grow the business.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a team of about seven people including a product manager, a developer, a designer, a research coordinator, and we worked with the CEO.

How did you come to work with WANDR?

We researched a lot of different firms. We ended up on their website through a Google search. I found them inadvertently while looking for designs. I really liked the layout of their own site, and it looked a lot like what I envisioned.

We spent about $25,000.

We started working together in June 2020 and went through July 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We use their prototypes on a daily basis as part of our investor pitch process. They delivered on all fronts. The final design was elegant and was exactly what we were looking for.

How did WANDR perform from a project management standpoint?

They hit every milestone and deliverables within the timeframe we planned. We worked in sprints, and when we asked them for a few extra days, they were gracious about letting us extend the timeline.

We used Sigma, Google Drive, Google Slides, Slack, and email to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They clearly know what they’re doing. From the beginning, they’ve done a great job. They provide a first-class service. The team is very skilled and they worked hard to deliver what we wanted.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They no longer offer the service that they provided us. They could have clarified what we should expect from the beginning. It would have been nice to know what milestone was coming next and what we had to approve or provide before moving forward. Sometimes there was some confusion on our end as to what we were approving verses whether or not there were more alternatives.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you understand that when you make a decision on something, that will impact the rest of the project. So make those decisions with that in mind.

What challenge were you trying to address with WANDR?

We were trying to create a web presence and do some research around our target market and messaging. In addition, we needed to get a pitch deck put together.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we flew out for a two-day brainstorming/whiteboarding session at their offices. We went through what we wanted to accomplish, what our message was, and what our product was. After this, they had an idea of the message we wanted to create around a brand and really creating the brand and the look and feel of that on the web. Then they showed me different graphics, pictures, and styles. I showed them the things I liked and didn’t like. Shortly after that, they sent me some preliminary designs to get my feedback and selections.

They designed and built a responsive website, which was fantastic. It was optimized for desktop and for mobile. They also did a video walkthrough which I could share with my developers. We refined the website many times. They always had a great attitude.

In addition, they also put together a presentation for me that we revised a few times. That was the end of the engagement. They gave me all the digital assets and all the files for the website to hand off to my team to be able to put it up online.

What is the team composition?

I spoke to Jinny (Founder, WANDR) many times. I was mainly dealing with Bobby (Lead Product Designer & Strategist, WANDR) who dealt with the rest of the team. Occasionally, I’d speak with one other person over there. I’m guessing there were 5-6 people working on the project.

I saw their website and reached out to them. They put together a proposal that we liked.

We’ve invested $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2019 until January 2020. It was a four-week sprint but we had to factor in holidays.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I love the end result of the design process. They give a lot of value for your money. It’s very high quality. Me, my investors, and anybody that has seen the demo in the industry so far have been really impressed. Whenever there was a mistake, they’d catch it very early because we had such frequent calls.

How did WANDR perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was very good. We worked in a four-week sprint. For a four-week sprint, there was a lot of contact Jinny would check in at least once a week. Sometimes, they check in 2 or 3 times to make some introductions for me and my company and to connect me with people who could help me get my business off the ground. She’s been very generous with her time in doing that.

Bobby never just disappeared if there was a problem. He didn’t stop responding to emails and phone calls. If there was an issue at all, he’d take responsibility for it, and make it right. I’m sure he’s working on lots of different projects, but he made it seem like this was the most important project in the world. They did video walk-throughs of all the designs, which they did on Figma with a clickable demo.

The fixes were done in real-time. We’d do a call and he would fix things I didn’t like on the screen. He had the best attitude. We used email and web calls with screen sharing functionality. They also had a web management tool and used my management tool, Monday.com, which I requested.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their creativity and good attitude were impressive. They really got what my product was all about and they seemed excited about it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they were incredibly professional and did a great job. It went as smoothly as I could expect anything to go in terms of development. I expected there to be more problems than there were. I expected delays and price manipulation, but it didn’t happen that way.

Go in there with a good idea of what you want to do. They can take it to the next level.

I’m a technical engineer at a startup that focuses on autonomous vehicle technology.

What challenge were you trying to address with WANDR?

We had a product launch with a customer soon. We wanted to develop a user-friendly interface. At that point, we tested the product on public roads and highways but with our own drivers and engineers in the truck. We needed to get to the point where only one driver was necessary. We wanted a more intuitive and elegant interface for the driver to tell them what’s going on in our system.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WANDR created the visual design of our new driver interface. We had ideas and gave their team a couple of screenshots of what we built. We also showed them our visualizer that presents raw data. We gave them a demo of our truck to show what our technology’s capable of and what scenarios truckers encounter. Their team created all of the designs for the screens from the ground up.

We worked with four people in total. I talked to Ed (Head of Strategy, WANDR) and Mike (Head of Partnerships, WANDR) who was on the strategy side. There was another individual who led the project as well as a visual designer

I posted the job on Upwork. WANDR found the post and reached out. I also interviewed a couple of freelancers and design agencies but decided to go with WANDR.

The project cost $15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in December 2019, and it wrapped up in January.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The designs look good. All of our team including our CTO was involved in this project and we’re all happy. I’m happy with how the project unfolded. Everyone in our company’s happy with the new design.

How did WANDR perform from a project management standpoint?

One of their team members participated in daily check-ins via ZOOM to give updates. Anytime there was a question or an update, it was delivered to us in a timely fashion. They presented the timeline before we signed the contract and met it. Their team had good communication, so the project went smoothly. I was happy with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Before the project began, I was worried about finding someone given the time of year. I’m impressed that the project was done fast and resulted in quality work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The project started off slowly because it’s hard to say what technology we had and were targeting. I suggested an onsite visit to give a demo but that happened in the second week. If we could have scheduled the visit earlier, the first part of the project would’ve gone faster.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

More direct communication with the visual designer would make the process better. I didn’t get many chances to talk to the visual designer. If I had a suggestion for a design element or wanted to know the visual designer’s ideas, I had to go through a middleman. That slowed the process down.

I’m the head of product at Zoe Financial, a marketplace that connects individuals with a curated list of independent financial advisors. I oversee our entire digital experience, including both consumer-facing and B2B products.

What challenge were you trying to address with WANDR?

We wanted to overhaul our website with a focus on making the design consistent. Certain visual elements didn’t match, and that was an issue for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I made a list of landing pages and other core pages that we wanted to focus on at the beginning, and we went through a number of different exercises to help WANDR understand our business. They talked to a few of our users directly and looked through some comprehensive third-party research that we had. 

From there, they moved forward with designing how the site would display information both from a visual and a content—or copy—perspective. They also mapped out the structure of the site and produced several wireframes.

We spent about a week doing rapid iterations with different wireframes, and, once those wireframes were in place for both mobile and desktop, they started on the actual visual components. The visual components took about two weeks to complete. 

What is the team composition?

I collaborated mainly with Ed (Head of Strategy, WANDR) and Fred (Product Designer). Fred was my point of contact for specific updates, and Ed was a project manager that synthesized ideas and came up with strategies. I also spoke with Jinny (Founder, WANDR), Mike (Head of Partnerships), and a third individual to get supplementary feedback.

How did you come to work with WANDR?

I came across Jinny’s profile while searching for people to help with a separate project. When I realized that WANDR is an agency, I decided not to use them for that project because it was so limited in scope, but I still enjoyed speaking with Jinny and Ed. They were professional, and I could tell that they would be able to deliver visual elements due to their expertise.

I reached out to other firms for web design services, but WANDR was my first choice. I set up some time with Ed to discuss the scope of the engagement, and he came back with a proposal within a few days. We set up a date to get started—probably a week from when I received the proposal—and that’s when we kicked off the project.

Working with third-party vendors is always a gamble, which is why I used Clutch to help me decide. I was anxious about the amount of money that we were planning to pay them, but they assured me—like most agencies do—that they would facilitate a great engagement.

The project ran for the past three weeks, and then maybe a week or two prior to that if you count the establishment of the outline of the project as well.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The communication and support were top-notch, and that made for an enjoyable experience. We’re moving onto the development phase now, and WANDR is still willing to answer our questions and provide additional services as needed. We’re already getting traffic and seeing growth in our marketing funnels, and I attribute most of that to their deliverables and the fact that they were on point with their initial research.

How did WANDR perform from a project management standpoint?

They used Figma and another visual progress tracking tool. I spoke with Ed over the phone as needed, and we did daily Zoom meetings and emails as well. In the beginning, the workshops were facilitating most of our communication, and that iterative process was very fluid. They also set clear expectations in terms of the timeline.

Although Fred was my main point of contact, the other team members would jump in with their ideas during meetings. It never felt like there was just one specialist running the meeting; the whole process was very collaborative. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Another indicator of the quality of their work is my willingness to partner with them again. The reason why I’m leaving this review is that they did such a wonderful job, and I know this feedback will be valuable for them. I’m super happy with the outcome, in particular how they've helped me by taking some decision making off of my plate.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish they had sent me their Clutch reviews during the initial conversation phase. Those were super helpful to me, and they could’ve used them to highlight specific parts of their process to add a layer of assurance.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a clear understanding of what it is that you want. They’re always going to be some ambiguity, but if you have outlines of what you want to accomplish, that’ll make the process a lot easier. The team from WANDR will help with that process, but make sure to come to the table with ideas.

Our app looks awesome and the project was completed ahead of time!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Super efficient. Between Slack for file sharing and day to day communication, and our daily stand ups during the three week project, communication and file sharing was really smooth.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

How quick they produce quality designs.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not at this time. It was awesome on our daily standups we would provide feedback. They would often make changes during meetings rather than waiting for the next call. Really good experience.
