Wadybug designed & developed an app to increase engagement with a school’s after-school, volunteering, and fundraising programs by automating several processes. The app also allows users to stay connected.

The app was developed and released within deadlines and the automation it provides has helped to increase user engagement, with membership numbers increasing after its launch. Furthermore, fundraising efforts have also benefitted, with an additional $15,000 raised every year since the app’s launch.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Please provide a description of your company.

LEAP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit benefiting the Leal Elementary school in Cerritos, California.

What is your role and responsibilities?

I'm co-president of the association.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was your goal for working with WadyBug?

We wanted to build the app to increase parents' engagement with LEAP. We thought this would benefit us in terms of fundraising and volunteering.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their work.

They built an app for us that allows us to stay connected to everyone involved in our organizations. The app also allows people to register their children for summer school classes or Leal's after-school program, and they can sign up to volunteer to serve the various needs of the school. WadyBug handled all design and development associated with the app.

What was your process for selecting WadyBug with which to work?

I wasn’t part of the committee that selected them, so I don’t have that information.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

It was in the $10,000 to $15,000 range.

What was the timeline of the project?

The project lasted about six months.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Do you have any statistics, metrics, or general feedback to show the success of the project?

It's a relatively simple app, but we get a lot of engagement out of it. It automates a lot of volunteer sign-ups, which used to be done manually.

Actually, I think our membership has increased. I had a very positive relationship. Prior to the app, we were doing the actual summer school program manually.

People used to ignore the newsletter that we would send out, but they don’t ignore our app. We've gotten great feedback from parents, and feel confident saying it's played a role in increasing our fundraising efforts by $15,000 year-over-year, just by virtue of the increased engagement with parents the app brings us.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

They seemed to know what we wanted. It was kind of intuitive, we didn’t have to explain every step along the way. They understood what we wanted to do, and then figured out the best to make it happen. I think that intuition is probably the best part of their company.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

It would have been nice to have more graphics in the app.
