I am the founder of a Kuwait-based marketing agency. We help clients in designing, developing and maintaining their online presence.

Our agency was in the making, so needed a team to help us in our early steps to establish the agency, since I and my business partner are working full time, so didn’t have the time.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched for an agency to help us move forward with turning our business model from freelance, to an established agency.

We had multiple kick-off meetings to discuss potential collaboration and our goals in working with Veza, and how we vision our new agency. Then we moved to a shared channel on Slack for instant contact where we discussed and shared ideas to start designing the website, and giving feedback to enhance the wireframes designed in Figma, and final stage was the development using Webflow.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

On slack channel we have 6 of Veza’s team. During the kick-off meetings we worked with Stan, and then after working officially with Veza, I was mostly only working with Jolli, who was the point of contact, and Jamal. But all the team were really helpful, and friendly if I needed anything, I was assured that even if I approached the wrong person, I’d get help or answer to get things done.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Not yet, since the website still not live yet but we're in the final stages since I got the website transferred to my agency's account.

We have two communication tools, Slack, and email. I always get weekly updates to keep us in the loop instead of waiting for us to reach out, which kept things organised. Plus, I was in touch with the team on Slack, and if there was any delays, I get instant notification on Slack. Working with Veza’s team was straightforward, and expectations were clear, and met.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most impressive thing was the diversity of the team, working was a team of different backgrounds was a plus for me, and the friendliness of them which made it less formal, in a really good way!

I was the director of marketing for an early-stage blockchain startup.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Veza Digital?

We were initially trying to build out a rudimentary version of a crypto exchange in 2017. We didn’t want to launch an initial coin offering (ICO), which most companies were doing. We decided to take the more complicated route and wanted to be compliant from the start.

Since we were based in Toronto, we had to go through the process of applying for a broker-dealer license and a prospectus exception to launch a public offering properly. Our goal was to have our own liquidity and create a more robust trading schedule with the ability for margin.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Veza Digital helped us with website design, specifically figuring out how to create an onboarding system for investors. They did the general UI for the platform, working on making it friendly and taking care of the look of the landing page, the list of all the coins, and so on. They used an API integration, and I believe they used JavaScipt for the code.

For the MVP, we piloted a basic buy-sell order that plugs into a change liquidity pool to conduct our transactions. We had essential charting tools, but it was enough to show investors and sample what we were trying to build. Also, we needed the platform to have an upload function so people could download the KYC form, fill it, and upload it. Then, we intended to integrate it into a third party to verify the information.

What is the team composition?

I work specifically with Julian (Chief Delivery Officer) and Jamal (Director of Partnerships).

How did you come to work with Veza Digital?

I met Jamal through a mutual friend in Toronto, and we got to talking. At the time, I was working with one of my partners, and we were mulling over the idea of how to get the project done. We were a little bootstrapped for people. Veza Digital came in at a decent rate for what we needed, so we started working with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $6,800.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in September 2017. I don’t work with them anymore.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Unfortunately, the project didn’t go through. It had nothing to do with Veza Digital — investors were a little skittish at the time, so we couldn’t raise the money that we needed. However, they successfully got us toward the point where we could solicit investors, which was great.

Sometimes I think that if we’d wanted to launch the project in 2021, we wouldn’t have had any issues because the blockchain industry is entirely different today.

How did Veza Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

We had weekly correspondence, and if we needed to call them, they’d answer. I had most of the verbal communication with Jamal, but Julian did an excellent job providing additional work. They were never late, and they went the extra mile. We didn’t have any complaints about project management.

We used Slack, Gmail, and Skype for communication, and we shared documents and collaborated on Google Docs.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They stood out for their transparency. We got what we paid for, and they were frank. Also, they were young and open. It was easier to speak to them because they were closer to our age, so talking to someone on the same footing was nice.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they executed their side of the bargain.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

As with any consultant, state your priorities upfront and make sure you’re clear on what you want so they can deliver. If you don’t know what you want, they can’t help you.
