TruckIN develops digital products for the trucking industry in Europe. We are based in Berlin and Budapest. I’m CEO and cofounder.

What challenge were you trying to address with UX Studio?

We wanted to prototype our MVP for both mobile and web applications. We did not have a UX designer in-house so we needed to work with UX Studio to improve our frontend UI/UX.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did MVP prototyping including research, creating user profiles, and conducting usability tests. We sat down and did a workshop together to understand our needs and our customer group. They provided us with wireframes for both the mobile and web applications. The development of the apps was performed by our internal team.

The first 10 months of our partnership were intensive: we talked to them every day. We also met with them once a week face to face. We used Zeplin to communicate on each design. They did everything from the mockups to the beta version product. Currently, some of the products they helped us with are on the market. Based on user feedback and our requirements, they are now modifying the design. They are always trying to find the best possible solutions to our problems. They continue to perform testing with our users. If there is a problem, they do a new usability test with the different customer groups. We draw up a hypothesis of how the solution could work and they validate it. If it looks good, they design it and we implement it. There were 3 team members working with us on our project.

How did you come to work with UX Studio?

I had worked with UX Studio in 2014 and I really liked their approach and how they work. I didn’t really look for any competitors; I just selected them again.

How much have you invested with UX Studio?

We have spent between $60,000 and $70,000 over the course of our relationship.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in July 2016, and the work is ongoing.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

All the feedback has gotten better over the course of our relationship. We launched our product two months ago and haven’t completely set up the metrics to measure how effective the design is. On the prototyping phase, I have a feeling they’re performing well and user feedback shows that as well. The users and investors have given good feedback that the design looks really professional.

How did UX Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent and really proactive. There was one person leading the design element of the project and another person did the user research, usability tests, and user feedback.

What did you find most impressive about UX Studio?

They were really focused on delivering solutions and listening to our needs. Since I’ve been working with UX Studio, I really trust them and am happy with their work. I’ve worked with 5 or 6 different digital suppliers who were hard to communicate with. There were misunderstandings with these other companies, but with UX Studio, that never happened. They are really outstanding compared to others in this industry.

I like their approach of a flat organizational structure. If they get a project within the company, a team of designers and researchers take all the responsibilities to satisfy the customer. It’s like a mini-corporation within the corporation and I think this approach is very effective.

Are there any areas UX Studio could improve?

No. I got everything I needed.

We offer an influencer marketing platform on which fashion bloggers or Instagrammers collaborate with brands they like. It’s like a matchmaking system. The brands get an opportunity to choose the best influencer for their campaign. I founded StyleLike with my husband this year. Right now, there are 5 people in our company.

What challenge were you trying to address with UX Studio?

We didn’t know which functions our platform should have. We already knew what we wanted to offer, but we didn’t know how we were supposed to do it. We’d heard about user experience before so we started to look for companies that could help us deliver this platform. We wanted to offer features like influencer analytics so that users can create reports about the success of the campaign. That’s what UX Studio is helping us do.

What was the scope of their involvement?

UX Studio designed the website and the platform. Many of the ideas for the functions came from UX Studio, and the way that they are displayed makes them different. They were responsible for the user experience, all the functions, all the process that customers have to go through during the campaigns, everything, the whole website. They also conducted user personas and user testing. They helped us solve some problems and made our platform unique.

How did you come to work with UX Studio?

My husband was looking for user experience companies on the Internet. He just contacted one of UX Studio's employees, and they reacted very fast. UX Studio even came to Germany. We had a kickoff meeting here.

UX Studio worked on the platform from June to September 2016.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We’re very happy with the design. We haven’t launched yet as we are still programming. You can already see the website design, but the functions are not there yet. That’s why we haven’t gotten any feedback yet. Some people we know have asked for the contact information of UX Studio.

How did UX Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very flexible. Every week, we planned what had to be done with UX Studio. They put 2 colleagues on our project. They were working on the project full-time and they were always available. I really enjoyed the communication.

What did you find most impressive about UX Studio?

UX Studio came here to Berlin; I don’t know if other companies do that, but that impressed me. It was nice because then we could meet them personally. It’s my first time to work with a user experience company and I really like the approach that they have. There’s that balance of being professional while having a warm personal relationship. From the beginning, I really enjoyed working with UX Studio.

Are there any areas UX Studio could improve?

No, not really. I cannot think of anything wrong or anything they should improve right now. Everything worked perfectly with them, to be honest.

The team delivered a refreshed user experience and interface aligned with Balady+’s vision as Saudi Arabia’s lifestyle super app, defined new application concepts and feature sets that merge navigation, lifestyle, and smart-city services, and conducted in-depth research to guide design decisions and ensure the platform authentically reflects how Saudis live, move, and explore their cities.

Our main priority was to develop concepts and features that truly reflect our positioning and set us apart in the market. By the end of the project, we successfully achieved this goal - creating a strong foundation that clearly differentiates us from all existing apps in the space.

What challenge were you trying to address with UX studio?

We needed to redesign our mobile application to modernize the look and feel and improve the overall UX. We also wanted an experience catered to different user personas since our clients have to log into the system with specific goals and workflows in mind.

What was the scope of their involvement?

UX studio provided a complete redesign of our mobile application. They overhauled our existing app and produced designs for several new features. The team also created wireframes and prototypes to assist with conducting user interviews to validate design decisions. UX studio's final deliverable was a UI design for the entire app and a UI kit in Figma.

We initially found UX studio through an online search. We liked what we saw and then verified and confirmed their information through Clutch. We liked the information about their company on their site, which talked specifically about how to find a good partner for a redesign. That was helpful since it was our first time engaging in that type of service. We also liked UX studio's public case studies that showed a good eye for both design and functional UX. We had two introductory calls with them to go over the project's goals and needs. The team impressed us with the type of questions they asked. They also seemed like people we would enjoy working closely with throughout the project. Lastly, their price point was good.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our end users and internal leadership team liked UX studio's final designs. Through user interviews, we confirmed that the end users found the designs beneficial for their workflow. Our leadership team also approved the designs.

How did UX studio perform from a project management standpoint?

UX studio delivered on time. Their account manager checked in throughout the project to ensure we were satisfied. We had meetings a few times a week, which lasted 1–1.5 hours. We also had direct communication through Microsoft Teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

UX studio quickly learned what our company did, including our highly specific, detailed user journeys and workflows. The team was also highly collaborative despite the seven-hour time difference. UX studio never made us feel rushed even though most of our calls were at the end of their workday, sometimes running into the evening. They always made us feel like they had time for our questions and feedback.

There's nothing UX studio could have done better or differently.

I'm the senior web manager at an e-commerce company. We design and manufacture high-performance tactical clothing engineered to solve real-world problems for military, law enforcement, and demanding professionals in the field.

What challenge were you trying to address with UX studio?

We wanted to redesign our B2C e-commerce website as part of an upgrade we were doing. The goal of the redesign was to structure the content of our website, make the website more user-friendly, and improve the navigation through the website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

UX studio provided a full redesign of our website. Their work included designing the product pages, category and sub-category pages, checkout flow, user profile pages, different promotional scenarios, blog and content pages, and a full design system for us to expand on in the future. They also did initial user tests with existing clients on our current page and tested the prototypes with our target audience throughout the design process. The end deliverable was a full design system of the B2C e-commerce website.

We found UX studio through an online search and checked their references and different review sites to evaluate their work. They offered a wide array of services at a high level. We were looking for an agency that would understand the needs of our customers and would be able to align their needs to our specific niche. What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The deliverables were defined before the beginning of the project. The designs are not yet implemented as the development is still ongoing. However, we expect to reduce the bounce rate of the visitors and improve the conversion rates and average order value due to some of the design steps that were made and improvements in the navigation and user experience.

How did UX studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They were really good at keeping the project on track. We needed a week or two to get the workflow perfect, but they were quick to adapt and recommend different steps to facilitate the work. We communicated through video calls on a daily basis.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The deliverables we received from them were on a really high level and structured. They were quick to adapt and respond to any concerns or challenges.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We were a small team, and we weren't able to keep up with all the revisions that were made, so it became a bit overwhelming. We think we lost some valuable time here. A more detailed process definition before the start of the project with the client would help.

What challenge were you trying to address with UX studio?

I hired UX studio to refine the UI/UX design of our product and help us create an initial iteration of our MVP.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we scheduled a kickoff call to discuss the project at a high level, create milestones, and establish a routine for our meetings. From there, we started performing user research, interviewing people about the field and competing products in the marketplace. The designer created a bunch of branding materials to understand the look and feel we wanted.

After that, we dove into the actual UI/UX design, which was an iterative process with a lot of back and forth. We interviewed attorneys and paralegals throughout the process to ensure that what we were building aligned with our users’ desires. For tools, we used Adobe and Figma.

What is the team composition?

We worked with three people from UX studio, including the client relations manager, Gábor, the designer, and Ana, the UX researcher.

I found UX studio on Google. I reached out to them and other design firms. They provided a bid and competed with other design agencies. Ultimately, they won because of their emphasis on user research.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

At the end of the eight weeks, we had a prototype of what the product would look like, high-fidelity mock-ups of the unique workflows within the product, and a handover of all the UI components and tools that our frontend engineers needed to implement the product. They completed all the required Figma mock-ups we needed to develop the MVP.

They developed 20 out of 20 high-fidelity mock-ups for the MVP. They also provided a UI kit and a prototype to demonstrate the product's features and functionality. The designs received positive feedback.

How did UX studio perform from a project management standpoint?

UX studio completed everything on time and stayed on budget. They were highly communicative and transparent about the pricing. We met twice a week and discussed how we wanted things to be laid out. Moreover, we used Figma for project management and communicated via Google Meet, Gmail, and Google Chat.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their user research was thorough and allowed us to validate many of our hypotheses about how the product would be useful by getting user feedback. The team made several suggestions throughout the whole process. In fact, they suggested how to present the information to attorneys and paralegals, which was very useful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Some more structured meetings would’ve been good. There wasn’t an agenda for many meetings, which was fine because it allowed us to be more dynamic. However, an agenda would’ve been useful for some of those status meetings.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Leverage their user research resources as much as possible. They’re helpful in understanding what your users want. Allow them to perform their user research and empower them to do that. Do not hold back on that front.
