I’m the business coordinator at a small health & wellness company. It began as a National Geographic cover story written by our founder. He traveled the world, looking for places where populations significantly longer. He found five areas where entire communities where people live up to ten times the rate that we do in the US.

Now, he is working in American communities to try and implement policies and environmental nudges based on his observations. According to a Danish twin study, longevity is 80% lifestyle and environment and 20% of genes. Within our company, we have different sources of revenue and income. We have an online store, large community wellness initiatives, books, and promotions of our founder. He has several keynote events across the world.

In my role as business coordinator, I work with our social media, website, and email communication.

What challenge were you trying to address with UPQODE?

Our website is a bit complicated because of the amount of information. People who are looking for speaking inquiries and company news visit the site. We hired UPQODE to help with the navigation of our platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

UPQODE laid the groundwork to make our website beautiful. Before, our WordPress platform was simple. The pages would have one picture, a title, header, and information. Our team had several ideas, taking screenshots and sending examples to their team to help with their development.

Their team created a homepage with infinite scrolling. Visitors can also select what they want on the screen to direct them to that specific section. We recently launched a new grant and wellness initiative program, and they worked on those pages.

What is the team composition?

We work with six people in total, including their support staff. We had a project manager, lead designer, and two people that provide support and minor fixes.

How did you come to work with UPQODE?

I believe my editor-in-chief found them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $10,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement with UPQODE started in April 2018. The big overhaul was completed in August 2018, but we continually work with them on page updates and maintenance.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

There’s been more traffic to our website. Our page views have increased by almost a million. A lot of the work that their team has done has made our site look more professional. This is helpful when trying to impress people and convince them to spend money on a wellness initiative.

For a long time, it was hard to get our CEO to understand the importance of spending resources on this type of project. But he’s seen the results and is proud to showcase the website to people. UPQODE’s work has made a huge difference.

How did UPQODE perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team uses a project management website. Anytime we have a task for them, we put in a work order. They’ll send an email right away that assigns the project to the designer or developer. Their team will respond within an hour. Depending on the length of the project or work, they’ll send a weekly update or check-in. If anything, we’re the ones slowing down the workflow because we’re busy with a lot of things. They keep tabs on us so work can move forward.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their customer service and responsiveness are noteworthy. I’m not a developer, so it helps to work with a team that I can give layman’s terms to. I’ll send their team a screenshot of something cool or a website link, asking for their expertise. The team at UPQODE will figure out how to do what I request.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s a time difference, but we can’t help with that. It does hinder us at times, but there’s nothing on the website that’s urgent. But if I get a request on a Friday afternoon, their team can’t respond until Monday morning.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be specific with your request. Occasionally, there’s a language barrier, but with anyone you work with, you want to be precise. If you’re not on the phone or in the same room, send them examples through screenshots and links. The creative team at UPQODE is full of quick learners. They skillfully implement their projects. If the client is clear enough, the project will end being what they hoped.
