The scope of work performed by the development company covered the design, architecture, development, integration, and deployment of the Droyz Companion App, a cross-platform mobile and web application that serves as the digital ecosystem for Droyz Toys’ phygital collectible figures.

The primary objective of the app is to enable users to claim, manage, and interact with the digital twins of their physical collectible figures, creating an integrated experience that combines physical ownership with digital interaction, augmented reality, and AI-driven character engagement.

One area for improvement would be more comprehensive technical documentation, particularly regarding the backend architecture, database structure, and deployment configuration. More detailed documentation would facilitate easier maintenance, onboarding of new developers, and future scalability without dependency on the original development team.

Additionally, greater emphasis on knowledge transfer and structured handover procedures would have been beneficial. This includes clearer guidance on managing backend services, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure configuration, ensuring full operational autonomy for the Droyz Toys team.

From a project management perspective, more proactive communication around technical constraints, trade-offs, and long-term architectural implications could have helped optimize certain implementation decisions earlier in the process.

Finally, earlier implementation of scalability and modularity considerations—particularly in anticipation of future features such as AI interaction, expanded digital ownership systems, and increased user volume—would have further strengthened the technical foundation of the platform.

Overall, these areas represent opportunities for refinement rather than fundamental issues, and addressing them would further enhance the robustness, maintainability, and scalability of the application.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Two.Zero has successfully delivered a functional cross-platform MVP of our app, including a Firebase backend, pantry management system, receipt OCR integration, recipe matching engine, and push notifications. We’ve moved from the concept stage to live beta testing with 45 external users. The core features pantry CRUD, expiration tracking, dynamic recipe matching, and grocery list export are all operational, giving us a scalable foundation to iterate and grow.
During beta, we onboarded 45 external testers, with approximately 90% completing account creation and 80% completing onboarding. Around 75% created a pantry in their first session. Roughly 60% tested receipt OCR import, 65% opened pantry-matched recipes, and 50% generated grocery lists. Users who added 10+ pantry items were twice as likely to engage with recipe matches, validating our inventory-first approach.
Feedback was largely positive (approximately 75%), with strong enthusiasm for expiration tracking and pantry automation, while refinement requests focused on AI personalization depth and match-percentage clarity. The platform remained stable with no critical backend failures during testing.
During beta, our focus was primarily on onboarding success and core feature validation rather than long-term retention analytics. We didn’t run formal retention analysis at that stage. However, we observed that users who built larger pantries and tested receipt OCR were significantly more likely to return and explore recipe matching. Engagement also increased following expiration notification triggers. Full retention tracking is planned for post-MVP scaling.

How did Two.Zero perform from a project management standpoint?

Two.Zero maintained structured communication throughout the project and used a clear milestone-based approach. Core MVP functionality was delivered, and the technical foundation was successfully implemented. However, there were some timeline adjustments along the way. Certain deliverables took longer than initially anticipated, which required recalibration of expectations.
That said, they were responsive when issues were identified and addressed bugs during the beta phase in a timely manner.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What stood out most was their ability to translate a fairly complex product concept into a structured technical foundation. Our app required multiple interconnected systems, including pantry logic, expiration tracking, OCR receipt integration, recipe matching, and grocery list generation. Two.Zero has been able to architect those components into a functioning MVP. Their backend implementation and database structure have given us a scalable base to build on.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As a first-time, non-technical founder, I would have benefited from stronger advisory guidance around scoping a leaner MVP and planning for scalability from the start. While they executed on the agreed scope, more proactive pushback, clearer trade-off discussions, and founder-oriented education around technical decisions would have made the process more efficient and strategically aligned.
