I’m the application development manager at a real estate company. In my role, I’m responsible for all of our application and software needs.

What challenge were you trying to address with Turn Agency?

We hired Turn Agency to redesign our company website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our former website was built on WordPress, but we wanted to migrate it into a Microsoft-based solution. Thus, Turn Agency helped us rebuild our site on Umbraco from scratch. Initially, we provided them with guidelines and our requirements, including input about what we wanted to achieve. During the requirement gathering process, they helped us ensure that everyone agreed on the deliverable.

Then, we moved into the design phase. We revisited the design work they did, iterating on it until we approved it. After that, we went into the implementation phase, where they first prototyped the working features of the site before launching the first version.

Since then, Turn Agency has kept adding features and improving our site until we reach our desired functionality. Additionally, they provide maintenance services.

Our website has two sides to it. On the one hand, it has a public-facing side with information for people to learn more about our company and what we do, and they can also see our asset portfolio. On the other, it has a secure private portal for our stakeholders where they can log in and see confidential company documents, such as financial reporting and other information of that nature.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with three people from Turn Agency: two developers and a designer. One of the developers also acted as the project manager during development.

How did you come to work with Turn Agency?

We found them on Umbraco’s site as part of their Gold Partners. We also interviewed various other agencies, but we ultimately hired Turn Agency.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $50,000–$80,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working around April 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Turn Agency has excelled at meeting the milestones we set for the project. Now, our site is live, and users can actually use it while we keep updating it.

How did Turn Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Turn Agency has performed well, considering their capacity. We’ve worked very closely using an agile approach, and they used various project management tools to keep the project on track, including Storybook. We communicated via email, Zoom, and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Turn Agency’s main strength is that they have a lot of development experience; their work is very sharp. The product that they’ve produced for us was well-developed, using best practices.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be great if Turn Agency had more personnel on their team. As I mentioned, one of their developers also works as a project manager. It would be better if we had a dedicated project manager to ensure everything is executed properly.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Turn Agency is a small company, so if you’re used to working with larger companies, you might consider them to be very limited. However, you can expect a more personal communication, and the people who supports your project will know a lot about it.

I’m the digital marketing manager of a video safety solution company for commercial vehicles.  I manage our corporate site and all of the other pieces that tie into it, including SEO and our chatbot.

What challenge were you trying to address with Turn Agency?

We wanted to redesign our site to better prepare us to go into new growth markets. The company is 20 years old and we’ve been operating in more of the enterprise space. Because these companies have thousands of vehicles and trucks, we wanted to capitalize on the opportunity to work on more small market needs.

Those include companies where people have cars, but they’re not necessarily driving for a living, such as plumbers. We had to redesign our site to do more product imagery, and a more balanced focus on operational efficiency, rather than just safety.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did all of the UX research, which informed all of the design for our site. The team also did all of the frontend development and passed it along to our development agency to build out the rest of the site. They completed everything from scratch.

What is the team composition?

We had one main point of contact Patrick (Co-founder & Experience Designer). We also worked with a researcher, a content strategist, and two frontend developers.  

How did you come to work with Turn Agency?

They were referred to us by another agency. All we had to do was see a couple of the sites Patrick designed to know that it would be a good fit.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $50,000–$200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2019 and wrapped up in November 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We saw a 60% lift in organic leads from our site. The way they designed the usability of the site was also a huge success. It looks better and we’re far more competitive because of it. The sales team appreciates that our site looks newer too, especially since it comes into play when we have to go head-to-head with other providers. Overall, Turn Agency delivered.

How did Turn Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Their communication is fast, concise, and super-transparent. Patrick asked the right questions to get us the right results. He really designs with the user in mind, which is key.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their design skill and aesthetics, in general, are strong. What they do is very current and helps us look technologically forward.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, honestly, nothing negative comes to mind.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to follow their lead. They have the expertise to guide you through the process in an effective way.

They help us with our web design needs, accessibility, and branding.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Most of their design is done in InVision to show us mockups. They gathered requirements and brand assets from us and gave us exactly what we needed. The deliverables cater to our stakeholders, and Turn Agency is very good at accepting feedback. They checked in with us regularly until we had a product we were all happy with.

What is the team composition?

I have personally worked with one main point of contact: a digital and brand design specialist.

How did you come to work with Turn Agency?

I'm relatively new to the company, so the relationship was already in place before I started working here. Everything was already going so well with them, and we were happy to continue working together.

How much have you invested with them?

I’m not responsible for the financial side of the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with them in April 2019, and the work is ongoing. There are a lot of phases, and the project is scheduled to run through the end of 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our old design had really limited functionality. They helped us add functionality in a way that still felt uncluttered, and the results are very usable. They have a good sense of what works for a layperson.

How did Turn Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

They are always on time and responsive via Slack, email, or video calls. We communicate almost daily. They're flexible, understand the way we do business, and always meet their deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their patience and willingness to accept feedback set them apart from other design agencies. They work with us and understand our constraints.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything they should improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They're a great partner, and do well with ideas that aren't solidified yet. They helped us refine our requirements and made sure our project was a success. I'm sure they would do the same for any other client.
