Truefit was able to perform a quick but very detailed discovery into our MVP and the code of our previous dev team. They were able to identify the issues, recode in a more optimal language for scalability and speed. They have been able to deliver an MVP for our iOS and Android mobile app, as well as the MVP for our backend web portals.

They continue to work agile and able to provide suggestions rather than only take direction as we work through each new version which has greatly increased the speed of development and and reduce the workload on myself as the visionary of our product.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our scope was very clear with a budget and timeline to deliver. We monitor the progress weekly to ensure we remain on schedule with demos every week. The point scale for the amount of efforts for each new feature has been spot on.

Their project management is impressive. With most startups and MVP products, there are a lot of moving parts, especially when dealing with multiple platforms. Our assigned project manager and team have been fantastic. Their ability to document our needs and their understanding of our needs has been key to our success. Response time from the team is nearly immediate and they are always prepared to pivot as needed. They have delivered our product to date on time and on budget.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their ability to digest our needs, problem-solve, and come back to us with a suggested solution has been very impressive. Coming from a previous offshore dev team, TrueFits' ability to truly understand our product has been impressive. Their QA/Testing team does not go without notice. To date, we have only encountered one bug in our production environment, which was addressed almost immediately upon discovery.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Truefit could have done differently?

Nothing TrueFit could have done differently. If anything, we should have made the choice to go with them from the beginning rather than coming to them to help repair the previous team's mistakes.

We wanted to develop a fitness training app that met the demands of our team and committed customers.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

After attempting to build this same app out with a different developer (years ago) we nearly gave up on launching our own training app. We interviewed multiple vendors and fell in love with the Truefit team and company.

We had a series of discovery calls/meetings so the Truefit team could understand the vision that we had for this platform. They interviewed current customers, employees and brand ambassadors to really get a feel for our brand culture.

Before any code was written and the app went into development we had a very firm understanding of what was going to be built, how and most importantly WHY.

At any given point throughout the project, we had 5–7 people working on our project. Communication was never an issue, and project deliverables always met the deadline.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After a year of planning and building we were able to launch an app that we were extremely proud of AND CONFIDENT. We were confident of the integrity of the build, durability and functionality.

We had a weekly sync meeting via zoom that included the BPN internal team and the entire Truefit team. The project manager facilitated the discussion, but we had clear lines of communication with everyone from designers to engineers.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Every employee we interacted with 100% owned their role. After 10 years of building a business and working with countless vendors, Truefit has been the most impressive vendor we've ever worked with.

There's nothing they need to improve on.

I'm the Founder/CEO of a surprise travel brand called Pack Up + Go. We plan curated getaways around the United States, but the catch is that our travelers don't discover their destination until the day they depart.

I built the company on Squarespace, and transacted our first $12 million in revenue on the platform. However, as we grew, our processes became more complex and our needs for our team and our travelers began to outgrow what Squarespace could offer us. Because our company's offering is so niche, existing software for traditional travel agencies wasn't working for us and we realized we needed to build something from scratch.

I had met someone from Truefit years ago, long before we began looking into building custom software. When the time came to begin the process, I reached back out. I also spoke with several references. My deciding factors were quality of work and understanding of our unique niche within the industry.

We have now worked with Truefit on several different engagements to continue growing our software and capabilities. They have now built our team's CRM and workflow, a booking platform for our travelers, integrated us with BI tools and loyalty programs, and more.

The software that Truefit built for us has been reliable and has completely transformed the way our team works and has allowed us to scale far beyond what I previously thought possible.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Truefit has been our primary software development partner in building a cloud-based solution for our clients. The platform automates portions of the renewal steps, produces and customizes reports, and it also has an API with FedEx integration.

Other than that, they also provide us with maintenance and Azure hosting services, as well as ongoing support to implement features and upgrades.

Our software company is affiliated with Truefit, as they engage their software development services.

We’ve invested around $500,000.

For what projects/services did your company hire Truefit, and what were your goals?

In todays age of digital content, job descriptions are bloated and do not speak to the true nature of the vacant position. Additionally, organizations are overwhelmed with the cost and time associated with talent acquisition and retention.

We identified that problem begins with 2 flawed data sets (resume and job description) each using their own lexicon. We set forth to build a better solution around a controlled taxonomy of tasks, projects, skills and tools.

Both the job seeker and the professional use this taxonomy to ensure a match exists, and we facilitate the conversation. On the KnowMore platform, your name, contact information, employment location, education graduation dates, and your gender are unnecessary to make a job match.

We believe that by making your resume into a public private profile we eliminate the fears associated with privacy concerns, reprisal and unconscious or conscious bias. Additionally we facilitate blind recruiting there by support diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

SOLUTION

How did you select Truefit and what were the deciding factors?

We chose Truefit after a lengthy vetting process of various software development organizations. Truefit was one of the few companies that could provide a complete team dedicate to bringing our vision to reality.

For us, User Experience (UX) was paramount. Truefit was able to execute our vision under an extremely tight deadline. They are true professionals in every sense, from leadership through development.

Truefit designed and developed a full service SAAS platform that facilities job posting along with a modern method of recruit all while affording the job seeker discretion.

The project started with an invaluable discovery workshop where ideas were polished even before fingers hit the keyboard. Over the course of the next few months Truefit would facilitate discovery and design workshops to ensure our vision came to reality.

The Truefit team operated in 2-week sprints, which afford us time to test and elicit customer feedback throughout the development process. This helped ensure we were making sound decisions throughout.

Truefit was challenged with building our SAAS from ground up in under 6 months. They were able to achieve this while also adhere to standard coding practices and documenting their work.

There were 7 people in the core team, including a project manager, a designer, a software architect and 4 developers. Other resources would come and go depending on the sprint cycle.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to launch the product on time at a major industry event, this was major milestone within our organization. The product continues to make an impact on our brand and our industry.

We are quickly gaining market adoption. The TrueFit team performed so well that we continued working with them after the initial launch.

The project management was great. The team was always reachable via Slack. They consistently met their agreed upon milestones and delivered the product on time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We had direct contact with the team and were able to communicate with each other frequently. This ensure the entire process was executed efficiently and accurately.

The sheer talent this company brings to the table is impressive, from leadership to design to development and most importantly QA testing. Each step of the process we came away more impressed.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Communicating based upon a 'points based system' was confusing at the onset of the project. We were accustomed to a time measurement scale laid out on a Gantt chart.

Once we understood the rhythm and flow the early issues quickly dissipated. We also struggled implementing a 3rd party payment processor.

What challenge were you trying to address with Truefit?

We hired Truefit to help us build a platform that’d be used in leadership development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The app is a mobile platform that allows users to develop more effective leadership habits. It also allows them to track their progress on the habits as well as receive feedback from their peers on whether or not they’re developing those habits. The platform creates a data stream that allows leaders to see the trajectory of their leadership habit formation over time. It was built for iOS and Android.

How did you come to work with Truefit?

I know their company because they used to be a client of mine about 10 years ago. I had kept in touch with them throughout the years and watched their evolution. When it came down to it, I chose them because of trust. I knew they’d do the work, and do it well. I had no doubt they’d deliver the high-quality product they said they would. We did look around at some other companies but ultimately went with Truefit.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested about $185,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted from May 2018–January 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

User feedback has been good. I have clients who are using the app right now and they love it. It does what it’s supposed to, which is helping individuals create more leadership habits.

Truefit’s human-centered design approach was really helpful. They were good at keeping the communication pipeline open. There was a back-and-forth methodology for how they did their sprints and development phases. Throughout the engagement, they made sure to keep me up-to-date on the app’s status. Their team generally met the deadlines. These are all good things in my book.

How did Truefit perform from a project management standpoint?

They provided regular check-ins and progress updates. We communicated through Zoom, video conferencing, and Slack. Their team did a great job of incorporating me as the buyer in the process by getting my feedback and input.

On top of everything else, now that the engagement has been over for a while, they haven’t just dropped me. I occasionally receive calls from them asking how things are going. I also get networking hook-ups from them. Truefit is really open to sharing any and all networking connections they have to help the app be successful. They’re genuinely invested in my project’s success.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re realistic about managing the project’s scope as well as communicating that and keeping me up-to-date. Sometimes, projects can spiral outside of scope, but that didn’t happen here. I appreciated that they committed to dealing within a defined budget. We had ongoing talks about that. In this type of work, that’s the best you can hope for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything. Overall, they did a really good job.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you have a commitment to candor and having the hard conversations that you need to have in a project like this. This will ensure the engagement has openness and honesty.

I’m the CEO of DorothyAI, an AI-driven patent search platform.

What challenge were you trying to address with Truefit?

Truefit built the UI and security components of our solution.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our original user interface was very plain and didn’t meet our standards. When we first met with Truefit, we went through a long customer discovery phase, to understand what people were looking for in a patent search platform. We identified problems and subsequent solutions then began building wireframes with their developers and designers. Afterward, we went through a customer validation process to make sure it worked and that people were interested in using it. When we saw positive results from that, Truefit began building up the UI as a whole.

Along the way, Truefit’s team also focused on developing the security of the search platform.

What is the team composition?

There were about six to eight people working on the project. We had a lead designer, a product manager, and a lead designer, with others helping out in the background as well.

How did you come to work with Truefit?

They were one of the sponsors at a leadership conference I attended. When I needed UI work done, I went to them and a few other companies, to get an idea of their processes and capabilities. Ultimately, I decided they were the best fit.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $150,000 on the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project took place from November 2018-February 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Generally, one of the first comments we get from people who use the platform is that the UI is awesome. Users admire the color scheme and other elements—from a design standpoint, Truefit knocked it out of the park. And from a usability standpoint, we haven’t run into any problems at all.

How did Truefit perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed well. They provided weekly updates by email, where they kept us informed of where the project was. Our CTO was in contact with their developers on a daily basis, and I met with team members at least once a week.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Truefit did an excellent job. Their designer was extremely skilled, and he made a lot of good decisions. From our perspective, we couldn’t have asked for anything more.
