**The Review** — Mar 18, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: The beta version has been released, and the clients have praised Tintash’s work. The application has impressed customers to the point that they want to invest in the project. Overall, the team has been transparent and communicative; they stick to the budget and get things done quickly.
""Tintash has made the process easy every step of the way, and I’ve been really happy with them.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I own a fitness personal training company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

COVID-19 was an issue. We hadn’t implemented a digital solution; we recently started doing online training, which led us to use Tintash.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash is developing an application for online training. If somebody trains with us in person once per week, we write them out workouts for the rest of the week and send them through the app. Also, they’re fixing some problems in our business, like authenticating that trainers and clients are at the session. They’ve built solutions using QR codes to track the hours on the online workouts.

They’ve built the app from scratch for iOS and Android. During discovery, they did all the design, and they redesigned our website as well.

What is the team composition?

Usually, we have a UX/UI person and a couple of engineers on every call. The project manager is the mediator, which makes things easy. I can give my vision to him, and he conveys that to the engineers so that they can understand what I’m looking for.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

I looked into Tintash at least twice; I went into Google and looked into their past projects. I had a budget of about $500,000 and knew what I needed, but I didn’t want to spend money on something and fall short because it would’ve been hard to make that money back. In the end, I went with them because they’d done high-profile projects before, and I liked what they had to say.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $300,000, and it’ll be around $550,000 overall.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The project isn’t anywhere near done; it won’t be until August. However, we’ve released the beta version to 10 of my personal clients just to test it and see what they think. Getting the app in front of people has been really big. When people see it, they’re super impressed and think it’s a great project. We’ve actually had many clients who want to invest in it, which is funny.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Slack to be in constant communication. Whenever I need something, I can message them, and it gets done pretty quickly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When I was interviewing people for the project, Tintash was the most transparent about what could happen in pricing. They don’t work on a flat rate, but they give us a heads up on things that could cost more money, which really helps with my projections. Many companies are vague about what they’ll change or are overpriced, but Tintash isn’t.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish I had negative feedback on some things, but the engagement has been excellent so far. I’ve asked them to get a quote a couple of times, but it always comes out exactly how I need it at the end of the day.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear with your objectives and budget constraints. They’ve been able to work with me to ensure the project isn’t going way over budget. Also, they’re always quick to tell me if something will take away or add to the budget. Tintash has made the process easy every step of the way, and I’ve been really happy with them.

**The Review** — Nov 1, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: The client was able to pilot the application with several communities to great success, and the technology improved their end customers’ experiences. Tintash delivered on time and within the budget and communicated effectively. Their collaborative approach made them a valuable thought partner.
"“Tintash was a wonderful partner and super easy to work with.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the head of product and design at an online interior design company. We offer design services to customers and a platform for interior designers to collaborate with their clients.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We saw a need from the interior design community for an easy-to-use tool to create 3D renderings for their clients. Our goal was to see if we could do something new and innovative in that space to give our interior designers and customers ways to visualize their homes. We hired Tintash to help us with R&D and innovation projects in the 3D rendering and modeling space.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash helped us develop a 3D rendering desktop application. They custom-built the app from the ground up to offer high-quality rendering capabilities for interior designers regardless of their skill set. We initially provided them with a brief and worked closely with them throughout the development process.

The team built the custom modeling and rendering pipeline to help provide assets and final 3D renderings. The app’s feature list enables users to create floor plans in a 3D-rendered space and then drag and drop 3D models of various furniture and home decor items. Users can also add architectural elements, such as doors and windows. They can then export renderings with photo-realistic quality by setting up camera positions.

Tintash built the app on Unity using the gaming engine. Initially, they used PHP for the backend but then updated it to Python and Django. The team used React for the frontend, Autodesk 3ds Max for the 3D tool, V-Ray for the rendering engine, and Jenkins for automation. They also offered maintenance for the app, and we worked together to provide the hosting services.

What is the team composition?

We worked with many teammates from Tintash during our five-year engagement, including project managers, engineering managers, front- and backend engineers, and 3D modeling and rendering resources.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

We found them through a referral; a former colleague sourced Tintash. Although I wasn’t part of the initial selection process, I believe our company chose them due to their expertise in the gaming industry and 3D in particular.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $1 million–$5 million.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from March 2017–October 2022.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Because this project was in the R&D space for us, being able to pilot the new tools with a few of our user groups was a big measure of success for us. We piloted the app with our interior designer community, customers, and retail partners. Delivering high-quality room rendering improved our customers' overall experience.

Tintash was a wonderful partner and super easy to work with. We treated them as an extension of our team and worked closely together rather than just giving them a brief and seeing what they would do. Whenever a new need arose, they accommodated us and molded the team to those needs. Moreover, they were always super available and great thought partners.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered items on time and stayed within the budget. We primarily communicated through video calls, and we also used email and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What we loved the most about working with Tintash was their collaborative nature. When working with contracted teams, it's easy to feel like we're getting what we asked for and nothing more. Meanwhile, Tintash became a truly innovative thought partner; they didn't just do what we asked for but also helped us conceive new technologies and tools to build.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We never had to ask them to improve anything; they met every expectation we put out for them. Overall, we were really happy with them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Use Tintash! I'd also advise making use of their skill and dedication. Sometimes, people treat contracted engineering teams as a get-it-done resource, but Tintash is a great thought partner, communicator, and thinker, so work with them as much as possible.

**The Review** — Sep 12, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: By collaborating with the Tintash team, the company has reached multiple six-figure revenue-generating opportunities in their pipeline. They have delivered outputs on time and with excellent code quality. Tintash has shown a high level of professionalism that makes them stand out.
""We greatly appreciate their adaptability and flexibility.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the VPE at a company changing the Career Education industry with a cutting edge SaaS Platform for vocational-focused training businesses. Our products support C-Level leaders and their organizations to increase revenue and maintain compliance.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Tintash, and what were your goals?

Having a small, in-house team of serverless engineers responsible for building out custom ETL for 3rd party system imports/exports, our capacity was limited. The business needed more velocity to unlock sales in the pipeline so I looked to a cost-effective offshore solution.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I put out an RFP, received proposals from 10 vendors, culled to three, and chose Tintash because of:

cost-competitiveness and
a familiarity with their engineering excellence, having utilized them at a previous company.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Though we internally had tackled such projects, our documentation and project plans were sparse, but the Tintash teams proved gritty and resilient in taking what we had and running with it. Initially I provided a simplistic, base project template with Use Cases. As work progressed, we've refined the project plan template and involved internal EM and PM resources to continually improve processes and collaboration. The bulk of the work has been done in JavaScript for AWS Lambdas, moving some legacy code into TypeScript in tandem with the initiatives of the engineering org.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

At first there was a senior engineer along with a junior engineer. At the height of full ramp-up, there were two teams, each with 1-2 junior engineers, led by a senior engineer, with technical project management support.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The key outcome has been the unlocking of multiple six-figure revenue-generating opportunities in our pipeline that were previously blocked because Engineering simply didn't have capacity to pursue. Deliverables were provided on time or ahead of schedule and all have been impressed by the quality of code as well as professionalism exhibited by all team members, especially the Lead, Moiz Imran.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We conducted project planning and management using ClickUp with a three-phased approach: requirements gathering, implementation, and maintenance.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We greatly appreciate their adaptability and flexibility.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

None.

**The Review** — Jan 26, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: The startup is exceedingly pleased with Tintash’s commitment to delivering the best app possible. They strike a crucial balance between delivering on the client’s expectations and providing recommendations based on their industry expertise. Customers can expect a timely and transparent partner.
"“Tintash has been really helpful, and we wouldn’t have managed to do this project without them.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a co-founder of a startup with my friend, who’s a hairdresser.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

My partner and I felt we had a really good idea, but neither of us are technical. We connected with Tintash, and they thought our idea was good, too.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash conducted research to see if there was anything similar to our app idea on the market. We found there wasn’t, so we started developing an MVP.

We’re developing an app that allows users to visualize different hair colors and styles virtually, before going to the hairdresser. They can also make appointments and have consultations through the app.

We’ve worked with Tintash throughout the process. My colleague is the one with hair coloring knowledge, and she worked with Tintash on warm colors, cold colors, and that type of thing.

The beta version of the app is live on the App Store.

What is the team composition?

We worked with one person during the initial phase and another during development. There were others around, but we’ve had two main points of contact.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

I met Mannan (Co-Founder) in Pakistan, and we kept in contact. He showed me some of their work, and I thought they’d be a good fit.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost so far is around $40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Tintash in August 2020, and it’s ongoing. We had a different perspective when we started because we were thinking from a hairdresser’s standpoint. During the collaboration, we decided to do this project in several steps. We’ve finished the MVP, and our focus is now on getting customers. We’re planning to do some marketing and then raise money.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Tintash has been really helpful, and we wouldn’t have managed to do this project without them. They understood what we were saying and did what we wanted to do, but they also told us when they thought that something wasn’t a good idea. They didn’t know anything about the hairdressing industry when we started, but they were quick learners. It’s been a good back and forth.

I felt like they wanted to make the best app for us. I hope we’ll continue working together.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

We have virtual meetings every week, and they’re really good to talk to. We haven’t had any language issues. We communicate via phone calls.

They’re good at managing deadlines, and they let us know if they need more time. As far as I remember, that only happened once; they were working on the coloring functionality, which was the hardest part of the app to build. It’s been a really good learning journey.

We had to wait a week or so in the beginning because they wanted to put together a certain team. We wanted to start right away, but I’m glad that we waited. It worked out really well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

This was my first project of this kind, so it was really important to get the sense that they were telling me the truth. No matter who I talk to at Tintash, I always feel like we are on the same page.

Tintash seems to be a good firm that takes care of its employees. Their founder told me that they didn’t let anyone go during the pandemic.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No — I’ve had an excellent experience with Tintash. I had the opportunity to work with other developers, but I chose not to.

I want to keep working with Tintash. We can discuss ideas together, and they put us down in a gentle way when we have a bad one. It’s important that they don’t say yes to everything we propose.

**Feedback Summary**: An efficient, effective team, Tintash completed the project within two months, exceeding internal stakeholders’ expectations. Their transparency, thoroughness, and organizational skill set them apart from the competition, elevating the quality of both the partnership and the final product.
""Tintash helped us tremendously."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of a gaming company. We provide an arcade for skill-based cash-prize games.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We were looking to develop a prototype.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash developed an offline prototype, which essentially has the look and feel of the application we’re trying to launch. The team really helped us create and develop the user experience for the product.

What is the team composition?

We worked with about six people. Most of them were Unity engineers, primarily working on developing the games and the flow of the app.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

We used Clutch to compare and do research on a few different development firms that might be able to help us. We began our search around the onset of the pandemic, and Tintash was actually offering an additional discount. We decided to go with them because they were a highly rated development company and they were offering the discount.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project took place from July–September 2020. It was about six or seven weeks total.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Tintash did an excellent job with the quality they provided. They were very thorough and always made sure we had all of our bases covered.

The team worked alongside us to help us figure out what kind of MVP we wanted to create. They provided their insights on what flows they believed would work best for achieving certain aspects of our UX. They even did some more research to help us figure out legalities we might face and other things like that. Tintash helped us tremendously.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They were pretty good. We met about twice a week, once to plan out what would be done that week, and the other to review what was done over the week. The team had good, open communication about what could be accomplished and what would have to wait.

The team used detailed Jira boards to plan the project out, breaking down which features would be completed during which sprints. It was a good, thorough breakdown.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with the speed at which they got the work done. We were able to basically develop a nice looking, modern-designed app in a two-month time span, from the initial flows and designs all the way through.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only challenge that we had was that we’re in different time zones, we had to change when we were communicating, but that wasn’t a big issue.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you’re very clear on your vision. Being very specific with what you want will make the relationship with Tintash a lot easier because they won’t have to do any interpretation.

**Feedback Summary**: Though the app has yet to launch, internal stakeholders are confident in its performance and pleased with Tintash’s contributions. Throughout the project, the team demonstrated a collaborative, creative spirit as well as a dedication to project success.
""Tintash just gets it. They could conceptualize my thoughts and build a roadmap to get me to my desired results."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the GM and founder of Jobbox, a peer-to-peer tool and equipment rental platform. We facilitate transactions, connecting renters with owners.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

I hired Tintash to build our mobile app and update our website.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash built the cross-platform app from scratch. I didn’t have wireframes, just a general idea of what I wanted the app to do and look like. They helped me break down how we would achieve those goals, starting with the discovery phase, which led to mockups and finally, production. The app is built for both iOS and Android.

As far as the website, Tintash mainly just gave it a facelift. There’s not a lot of high-level functionality, it’s more just to highlight and promote our app.

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact was our project manager Sajjad (Senior Software Engineer), and once we got into production, there were at least four other staff members on our calls. Beyond that, they may have had some others working in the background.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

I did some initial research online, and came across Tintash. After narrowing down my choices to four, I had some calls and received proposals, making my decision based on that. They weren’t the cheapest, but I knew early on they were my favorite choice.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $53,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since July 2020. The apps are scheduled to go live in about a week.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app hasn’t been released yet, so I don’t have any metrics or results. I’ve been able to share it with my team, friends, and family, and the feedback has been great. Everyone’s been very pleased with the look and feel as well as the functionality of the app.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They were phenomenal. Sajjad did a great job leading the team. They were excellent at taking my thoughts, ideas, and concepts, and filling in the gaps. As someone who’s not tech-savvy, it was great that they were able to come up with solutions to get me to the end result.

We kept in touch through email regularly, as well as a weekly conference call on Google Meet, where we discussed progress, updates, and questions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When I was deciding who to partner with, it was clear they listened well and understood what I wanted. Tintash just gets it. They could conceptualize my thoughts and build a roadmap to get me to my desired results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

On the design side, I think I would prefer more sleek, sophisticated designs.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be available, be engaged, and give proper, honest feedback.

**Feedback Summary**: Compared to previous engineering firms, Tintash vets their engineers to ensure that each person is motivated and willing to learn. Their high engagement helps build rapport between the internal and outsourced teams, and they directly contribute to customer-facing work.
"“The team is willing to learn our workflows and understands what will benefit our customers.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder and CTO of a healthcare technology company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

Tintash supports us in multiple areas from mobile app development to staff augmentation when our internal resources are at capacity.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve worked with Tintash on two major projects. The first was a prototype for a mobile app that would serve as a proof of concept — we wanted to see if the product was viable enough to even begin building. Their team tackled the Android portion of the app.

Currently, they’re augmenting our web development by providing machine learning specialists. It’s full-stack development, including testing, frontend, and backend work using JavaScript. Thanks to them, we’re able to move faster.

What is the team composition?

They’ve provided three engineers.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

I found them through a referral from a mutual contact.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost has been around $75,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started in October 2019 and are still working with them.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The reason we continue to work with Tintash is that they provide good engineers who meet or exceed our expectations. Generally speaking, their resources go through a rigorous interview process to ensure that everyone is motivated and willing to learn. They act more like they’re a part of our internal team compared to other firms we’ve used in the past.

One indicator of success is that we don’t just use them to build things for testing. They work with us on things that get shipped as customer features, so we need them done correctly for delivery. And, they certainly deliver there.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

The rapport is pretty good between our team and theirs. Everyone is easy to work with and provides good results. They communicate with us via Slack, Zoom, and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Unlike other outsourced engineering firms, Tintash takes the time to schedule quarterly feedback calls on how their team members are doing. What are they doing well? How can they improve? Are there other areas can they help with?

From my perspective, it seems like it’s done in a very good nature. The team is willing to learn our workflows and understands what will benefit our customers. That’s definitely encouraging.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t know if this is a bad thing, but we’re trying to hire another person through them, but their team is going too quickly to other projects.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you’re open and honest during the initial calls. Share what you’re looking for and the problems you’re trying to solve because they’ll go out and find the right person to fit your needs. Otherwise, there will be mixed messages.

""When it came to communication, they were amazing."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the director of a sound therapy company. We have a mobile app that gives our users personalized therapy to strengthen their hearing.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We had already developed an app for iOS, so we were looking for a partner that could help us develop an Android app in a timely and cost-effective manner.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They started the Android app from scratch. They looked at the iOS app and code to get an understanding of how it worked. However, iOS and Android languages are quite different. Although they were able to understand the functionality, they had to create an entirely new code for Android.

Originally, we had them sign on for the Android app, but as things progressed, we were so impressed that we felt comfortable letting them work on our iOS app as well. After they finished developed the Android app, they cleaned the iOS app and got rid of the bugs we had been experiencing.

Along with that, they went ahead and updated our backend, so everything is now in sync.

What is the team composition?

There were five individuals on the initial team, including a technical product manager, a QA engineer, and three Android developers ranging from junior to senior developers.

As we needed more help with the backend and iOS, we brought on two iOS engineers, a backend engineer, and a frontend engineer.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

We were part of a startup program in Los Angeles and one of the mentors referred us to Tintash. We had initial conversations, but at that time we were working with a different development team. It wasn’t until five or six months later that we felt that we needed to go to someone else. The current team couldn’t scale as much as we needed.

We spoke to Tintash as well as other potential development firms, but every time we jumped on the phone with them, they were so accommodating. They would bring on individuals from multiple teams to answer any questions we had. The team was prepared for every phone call and had a plan in mind before we even released any code to them.

They took the time to prepare which showed us that if we actually worked with them, they would do the same thing. The deciding factor was that they were thorough, transparent, and they went above and beyond.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent around $40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in December 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The Android app isn’t available yet as it’s still in beta. Their changes have been significant, but we just don’t have the mechanisms to measure it yet.

We measured the success of the relationship by what they got done within the two design sprints we put on. They were on time and completed whatever they said they would get done during that sprint.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

We would have two calls a week. In the first weekly call, they would bring on an individual from each team that we were working with who would then give us their summary of what they did the week prior and what they had planned for the present week. The second call would go into what they had completed for the week.

In terms of transparency and communication, they were very thorough, provided numerous reports, and would update us every day on what they were working on through Slack. I also got development updates through GitHub. When it came to communication, they were amazing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I think the biggest thing was that they were able to give us really good feedback. They thought of scenarios that could occur that they felt needed to be addressed. They brought up things that could impact the future of our business that we hadn’t even thought about. Their problem-solving and forward-thinking were really impressive to us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish we had better communication hours, but that is totally fine because we can’t really change that since they are remote. Overall, it has been great.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Ask a lot of questions. They are extremely patient. If you want to talk to them for three hours, they will sit there on the phone with you. If you have 100 questions, they will sit there and answer those 100 questions.

They are very understanding and can explain technical concepts in layperson’s term. They are a major resource of knowledge and technical know-how. See them as a partner that you can rely on.

CEO, Mobile Network App
- Industry: Arts, entertainment & music

- Client size: 1-10 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Nov 8, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: While some of their more junior staff lack the industry expertise, the team is consistently willing to accommodate their partner’s timeline and tight budget. They exceeded expectations in their level of effort and thoroughness of communication. Using project management tools, the teams were aligned.
"“Their willingness to provide us resources to help us move forward made a huge difference.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and CEO of a small bootstrapped company that’s currently working on its MVP.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We needed help pushing to project forward while I built out my own internal development team.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They were in charge of mobile development using React Native. I had in-house developers working on backend elements, so they had to coordinate and work in tandem with that team quite frequently. This was particularly important when Tintash was integrating APIs into iOS and Android apps.

In the final product, they provided login systems that were connected with Facebook and internal APIs to our backend database. The apps also allow for profile creation and network-style utility. We’re targeting the SMB and consumer market with this entertainment application.

What is the team composition?

We started with one senior developer, but then expanded to two when a more junior member was assigned to us. Our team is paying for one resource, but the senior teammate is supervising the other. So, we’re getting the services of two people to some extent.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

I’ve known them for a while. We met about eight years ago when I was running another company.

How much have you invested with them?

In total, we spent between $10,000–$25,000. We were working at a monthly rate of $2,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted from August–October 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The reason I continue working with them is that they’re very accommodating to their customers. They’re a young company that does their best to deliver quality work. Within reason, the team is also able to work with our budget, too.

Because of that, we give them some leeway. The senior developer was great, taking initiative and presenting us with high-quality work before being replaced by a junior developer. I was less impressed with the quality of the work on the mobile application. There were cases of obvious bugs that affected the experience of the solution. However, given the amount that I paid, they went above and beyond what was required of them. All in all, they did pretty well.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re good at communication, always involved in our weekly meetings and interacting with my team outside of those meetings. We were aligned on expectations the entire time. Our teams interfaced via Google Hangouts, Slack, and occasionally Jira.

What did you find most impressive about them?

On an hourly rate, they’re comparable to other dev firms, but our budget was very tight. We needed someone who could work within our price range, and our team found that in Tintash. Their willingness to provide us resources to help us move forward made a huge difference.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As a company, I don’t think there’s anything. However, the work of the junior developer was not up to my expectations. At the same time, they were very accommodating with the price. In the end, it was quite fair.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be highly communicative. They want your feedback and are accommodating with schedules and budgets. If you communicate upfront, honestly, and frequently, you’ll be good.

**The Review** — Oct 22, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Tintash has successfully implemented a variety of enhancements. Flexible and dedicated, the team aims to resolve problems internally before involving the customer but is quick to reach out when necessary. Their depth of knowledge, coupled with their professional approach, sets them apart.
""They’ve made my life so much better, and they’ve exceeded my expectations."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder and CTO at an agricultural AI company. We offer sensors that can be used with animals to help farmers make decisions. There’s a lot of technology that goes with it, from the hardware to the cloud platform to the AI and machine learning to the app that we use to serve these insights to the farmer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We’re based in Amsterdam and have a pretty good team here, but it takes time and money to grow our resources as needed. It can be difficult to train your workforce and get them up to date on the latest tools and technologies that you’re using. For this reason, we wanted a company that could provide engineering team augmentation.

My main concerns were the speed at which we could deliver features on the app and the cost-effectiveness of the process. I was hesitant coming into the engagement, but my primary focus was giving my team some extra bandwidth to keep producing more features on the app.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

I see them as an extension of my team here. I’ve had prior experiences with offshore development companies that saw more than enough challenges around communication. The first project I did with Tintash was just a trial, and it was completely independent of the rest of what we do. We were trying out some new hypotheses and a new feature set.

I was able to give it to them, and because they delivered on time, on budget, and to spec, I decided to extend it. Now we work in tandem. For example, we’ll have some of their guys focus on the backend features, while my guys will take the frontend features.

In other cases, Tintash is working on the frontend, and my guys are working on the backend. I have enough overlap across the two teams that I can expand and contract as needed. I also have this peace of mind that, in case one person is unavailable or sick, we can always find someone else from Tintash’s side.

We’ve been working on different product lines and new feature ideas. I also have a weekly sprint with Tintash compared to a monthly or quarterly rhythm that I can run with my guys. We currently have seven different projects across three distinct product lines that they’ve ramped up on.

What is the team composition?

I engage with the project manager and the developers directly if needed. My engagement with the developers is happening less and less because it’s not needed. There’s also elasticity in how quickly they can add and remove people from the team.

In terms of headcount, there’s anywhere from 3–5 people across QA, product management, program management, and the actual development. There are about 12 people that have come in and out, and some have stayed on the same project. It’s nice that I haven’t had to worry about who’s on it. Whenever they put somebody new on a project, it happens seamlessly.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

I went through five or six different outsourcing companies, and Tintash was right at the top for me. I know the co-founder; we attended the same college. I did an open call in an alumni group, and the other co-founder, who is also from that college, happened to be there. We didn’t know each other, but he told us we should try it out, and to their credit, they removed themselves from that initial evaluation process.

I met with my friend at the beginning and gave him full disclosure that I’m working with his guys. It has been very professional, which is something I was concerned about initially with having a personal relationship. I feared that there would be a conflict of interest, but they have kept lines of communication very clear and clean.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent over $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2019, and the work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In the beginning, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to take the risk, but it turns out the risk was worth it. Everything has improved.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

I’ve been pretty hands-on with what we’ve developed here. I built most of the stack and, at least the first versions, I made myself. I interacted with the developers a decent amount in the beginning. Now we’ve gotten to a point where I’ve worked myself out of a job, which is great.

I don’t have to be on every single design review, and the team kind of self organizes. I’m having more strategic, milestone-based discussions. Where there’s a tie, I go in as tie-breaker. I’m still generally in the loop as to what’s going on, but I rarely have to pull information. Most of the information is pushed to me.

The whole process is also very transparent. Every week’s sprint is clearly laid out because we’re always working on a very fixed set of deliverables. In some cases, where we’re just doing some prototyping, some new ideation, or just ramping up on the technology, we tend to keep it a little bit more fluid.

They take less than a week, sometimes just a couple days, to ramp up on the existing tech. They start contributing very quickly, and they’re very diligent about documentation and communication. If they’re stuck on a technical problem, I often don’t even hear about it. If they’re struggling with a semantic or design element, they let me know immediately so that I can jump in.

Initially, I thought I’d have to write a detailed SOW with specs, and that, if I mess up, they were going to build the wrong thing. I ended up drawing it out on a whiteboard, giving them detail about the code. They broke it down into what was needed in terms of the project and tasks, and they came up with workflows as well. We communicate via Slack, email, and Google Hangouts.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Communication has been excellent. They listen and get back to me to make sure the right expectations are met. The engineering is superior too. I think the best part is that it’s cheaper to use them than to hire someone full time. I can hire one or two guys for the amount of money that I pay Tintash for 3-5 guys, and it’d take three months to ramp them up before they start contributing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. They’ve made my life so much better, and they’ve exceeded my expectations.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give them as much or as little as needed, but be clear about what you want. There’s room for ambiguity, and they will always deliver to spec. If there’s some confusion, they’ll work very hard to disambiguate and to remove any lack of clarity. If you give them something that’s half-baked from an idea perspective, you might have to go through a few cycles.

I could have gotten more out of my engagement with them if I had spent a little more time initially planning. Some of the design stuff could have been done better, and that would have probably helped the project cost less money.

**The Review** — Jun 7, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Tintash’s work has been crucial to overall growth, and internal stakeholders are pleased with the design and functionality of the app. Organized and efficient, the team regularly delivers within short timeframes. They’ve displayed an ability to execute while negotiating external challenges.
""All of us here are very enthusiastic about our relationship with Tintash."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the vice president of engineering at an online interior design company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

The business problem that we're tackling is, essentially, creating a 3D modeling application for online interior design. We want to facilitate the interaction between our clients and our designers with an app that has an excellent UX. Our goal is to have a product that empowers our end users to create and share designs easily.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash is developing the product from scratch. It’s a Unity app that runs on both Mac and Windows. Although we have an in-house product and design team, Tintash has, on occasion, provided UX expertise that has contributed to the overall functionality of the app.

As of right now, the product is certainly a power-user app for our vendors that have a background in design. It serves as a powerful tool for communicating ideas to clients. Our plan is to expand the functionality of the application to include more users.

What is the team composition?

We have one–if not two–project leads. I say that because we’ve had one project lead for a long time, and there’s been another who has facilitated in an associate capacity.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

I inherited the Tintash team from a predecessor, so I don’t know the details surrounding the initial decision to hire them. We’ve chosen to stick with them because they’re a fantastic partner.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent somewhere between $200,000–$999,999.

What is the status of this engagement?

I’m not sure exactly, but I believe that we started in March 2017. It’s been at least two years now.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They are instrumental—critical, even—for the success of our business. Their work has contributed to some initial versions that were essential towards proving out our idea.

If not for this partnership, we most likely would not have been able to pursue the ideas that are now central to our experience. At the very least, we would not have been able to accomplish this in such a cost-effective or strategic fashion without Tintash.

The usage of the product has been primarily internal at this point, and there’s certainly a feeling of delight amongst the handful of designers who have interacted with version one.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re a fantastic partner. Given the array of ideas, inputs, and requirements that they’ve had to manage, the team has done a terrific job of organizing their work to hit deadlines consistently. Both of our project leads have been phenomenal.

We use email fairly often and do a weekly check-in over Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Execution is the first word that comes to mind. They organize themselves well and communicate effectively. Also, they’re routinely able to understand our intent and reflect it back to use to make sure that we’re in agreement. They’re also always able to implement our ideas.

We’ve continued to partner with them because they’re responsive and produce great work. They’ve also reacted in such a professional capacity throughout various challenging situations. Even with tight deadlines and limited resources, the team delivered exactly what we’ve asked. All of us here are very enthusiastic about our relationship with Tintash.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There is some room for improvement in terms of their communication skills. This is certainly a challenge with any remote, distributed team, especially one whose native language is not English. That’s the one thing that I can think of.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Tintash has proved to be a great partner. They execute and take direction very well. If the scope of the work is well understood, and the statement of work is well defined, then the relationship is likely to be a very fruitful one, for both sides.

Tintash does well when given general ideas, but you can’t expect them to deliver to your expectations if you provide them with a vision that is too broad and doesn’t include any details. I think that’s true for any distributed team.

**Feedback Summary**: Tintash delivered high-quality work that met all deadlines and impressed stakeholders. The team went above and beyond to guide the UI/UX as well as build the product. Professionalism, timeliness, and the ability to grasp and execute requirements made for a smooth collaboration.
""Tintash quickly understood our goals, constructively scoped the project, and built a team to deliver."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the COO of Ander, a platform for businesses in various industries to connect to employees and customers.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Tintash?

We needed a full-stack solutions partner that understood games and could work constructively—challenging assumption while delivering steady progress—as we worked with customers and provided services.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to bring our platform to life for our customers.

**SOLUTION**
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Tintash was our developer of record for the project. Using our designs, they performed native front- and backend development for apps in iOS and Android. They also created the services that powered the apps, including various account management and personal tracking tools as well as a wrist-wearable activity tracker. The tracker verifies and rewards participation through game-like mechanisms. Their team also made ways for the design team to create and automatically deliver new content.

The app takes feedback from a separately manufactured activity tracker. This was a tricky part to accomplish because the software development kit (SDK) lacked immaturity, and there were hidden assumptions about the data being sent to the app. Tintash steadfastly identified, troubleshot, and accurately scoped the issues and regularly delivered progress that impressed all stakeholders on our side.

Their team also actively contributed to our UX thinking and UI implementation, carefully taking our user stories and creating interaction maps, mockups, wireframes, and UI screens. Their work increased the speed of production. We were impressed with the way Tintash approached our problems together with us.

What was the team composition?

We worked with approximately two iOS developers, two Android developers, three backend developers, two QA testers, and two UI/UX specialists. A technical producer led the team.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Tintash was critical to our platform’s success. Our primary deliverable in the early stages was to prove capacity and capability to our stakeholders. With Tintash onboard, our designs quickly were realized, and we could demonstrate the product’s speed and quality. Their work allowed us to close investment and set up beta tests with combination investment-sales channel partners.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We completed the work using agile methodology. We used all Agile artifacts and had excellent communication through calls, Slack, and project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Tintash quickly understood our goals, constructively scoped the project, and built a team to deliver. We also appreciated how they well managed our expectations and their resources.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I can’t think of anything. We still work with their team, and we plan to work with them further.

**Feedback Summary**: Tintash capably coordinated the development processes of products outside their standard portfolio. They offered valuable opinions regarding the practicality of the existing designs, and the team is receptive to frequent rounds of feedback. Organized and communicative, they are an ideal partner.
""Tintash handled the complexity of our project with relative ease, which not all companies can do."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the CTO of a real estate technology company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We engaged Tintash to help us scale our engineering team quickly without having to go through the process of hiring and training engineers. We looked to Tintash to provide plug-and-play engineering resources for the development of our web and mobile applications.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We didn’t have any preexisting code for Tintash to build from, but we provided them with wireframes and specifications of what we wanted the platform’s design to be. We relied on Tintash to build native mobile apps for iOS and Android, using Swift and Kotlin, respectively, and the web app uses React. Tintash’s engineers helped determine which development options were practical based on our design.

The basis of our platform is that it connects buyers and sellers. While the latter is used to focus on lead management and perform team admin tasks, the mobile app is a much simpler product that allows users to manage leads remotely via push notifications and follow-up prompts.

What is the team composition?

We work with a group of about 12 people, which includes three iOS developers, three Android developers, two backend resources, one frontend engineer, and various project managers.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

We met with a few companies and held some discovery calls before our CFO introduced us to Tintash.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in August 2018 and remains ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are thrilled with the product Tintash has delivered.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

We appreciate their flexibility and how communicative they have been. We use Slack for instant messaging and Jira for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They specialize in mobile game development, so our project was quite a bit outside of their vertical, and yet they took what little context they had about the United States real estate market and quickly understood the problem we were trying to solve. That was pretty amazing. Tintash handled the complexity of our project with relative ease, which not all companies can do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we are continually iterating on our processes to make them perfect. We go over possible improvements every other week, so if there is a problem, it’s already been remedied.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Every project is not going to be perfect, but having a high level of communication and transparency will go a long way toward helping teams work well together.

"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the head of innovations at Bed Bath & Beyond, a large home goods retailer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We engage Tintash for various development and prototyping projects. We require an efficient full-stack development team.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Many of the details about our projects are confidential, but through our many engagements, Tintash has demonstrated their expertise while working with iOS mobile applications, a Unity gaming platform, a Python-based backend for creating 3D assets, and products utilizing AR/VR functionality.

What is the team composition?

Across all of our projects, we’ve worked with about 20 people.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

I worked with Tintash initially while previously working at a startup. I was so taken with their work that I asked them to partner with us on our many projects at Bed Bath & Beyond once I took my position here.

What is the status of this engagement?

Tintash has worked on various Bed Bath & Beyond projects since March 2017. We have an ongoing relationship.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

For all of our projects, Tintash has worked hard to deliver products on time. I’d argue that the quality of their work puts them above what we could find in Silicon Valley.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate well with Tintash through Google Hangouts and Jira. We’ve had no trouble whatsoever. They’ve been diligent in all matters, and that is sometimes hard to find in outsourcing teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I am fond of the quality of their work and their willingness to be present as a team member. They are committed and extremely loyal.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we have worked very well together. Truthfully, they should get out of outsourcing and start their own product company. They are well-equipped to do so.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Treat them as a part of your own team.

**Feedback Summary**: The app received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Tintash works diligently and follows direction well. They are a development firm that delivers quality results and customer satisfaction.
""… they provide top-notch development work on schedule and on budget."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the co-founder of Super Binge Media. We are a mobile development and publishing company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We were looking for someone to help us develop an app for iOS and Android.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The app that we have was fully developed by Tintash for both iOS and Android.

I provided the stack, pretty much down to the last detail, and they executed according to those specifications. The frontend displays a collection of stories, similar to books. If the user chooses to tap into one of those items, they start to read the story. The backend has all of the content, user data, and user behaviors. We have a tracking and AV testing framework built out so we can test different layouts of the app to optimize the UX to more desirable metrics, such as retention and monetization. The app launched earlier this year, and since then, they have added features, made tweaks, and supported the app.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two iOS developers, two Android developers, one server, one Q&A manager, and one project manager. As the project went on, and the majority of the features were developed, we had to cut some team members. We are currently working with four people: one iOS developer, one Android developer, one server, and one project manager.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

They were recommended to us by one of the company’s investors, who has a great relationship with them; it was an excellent choice.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in September 2018, and it's an ongoing relationship.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app has been performing very well. There have been very few app crashes. We haven’t had any user complaints on app functionalities.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

I think their project management style is great and I don’t have any complaints. They communicate very clearly to make sure that everyone is on the same page at all times. We have two-week sprints planned out, and every two weeks there are a set of features that need to be delivered. They also conduct periodic feedback sessions, every month or so, to gauge how we feel and how the project is going. We have very honest and candid discussions. They are able to allocate the best resources to us, given the constraints we have.

I relay the design to the project manager because he has more experience with what people want in the app and what things need to be developed. He relays those requests to the developers. Often times, when the developers have very specific questions, they will ping me and we will resolve things quickly. It has been a positive experience overall. We used Slack, email, and have a video conference call almost every day.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Based on my previous experience, I am especially happy with their commitment to timelines. Before working with Tintash, when working with internal teams or other outsourced third parties, they were frequently late with deliverables. That did not happen with Tintash; I don’t think they have missed a deadline.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they provide top-notch development work on schedule and on budget. There isn’t a whole lot of back and forth on editing things because they always communicate and make sure that you get exactly what you want.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The first thing I would think about is whether both teams are in a similar time zone, where there are overlapping work hours. That makes the project smoother overall.

**The Review** — Mar 9, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Their involvement has expanded B2B relationships. They are diligent in their scheduling and communicate regularly. They stand out among other development teams for their quality and consistency.
"“Resourcing with them is great… they have a very predictable resource capacity.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a creative agency that builds custom software for enterprise and startup clients.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?
We work with offshore development teams in a hybrid development capacity to augment our internal team. Our lead in-house engineers architect appropriate solutions and work with developers to fulfill software designs.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
They’ve done iOS and Android development for a few of our projects. The bulk of the work we do with them is for a large U.S. healthcare company. We worked together to write the code, and they did all the development. We complete the design specifications and API requirements on our side, as provided by our clients.
These apps act as portals for users to take actions or see information related to their healthcare or provider. They can schedule appointments, change primary care physicians, or see lab results. We leverage mapping features, keychain functionality, and biometric security to ease user authentication. The app has to be HIPAA compliant, since it touches on a lot of personal health information. We also worked with a team of three on a smaller Unity software project that has since ended.
What is the team composition?
We work with six to eight people. The Unity project was a smaller team of about three.
How did you come to work with Tintash?
The search process was completed before I joined the company. My colleagues were impressed by their communication skills. We keep in close contact with their COO, who travels to meet with us at least once a year. They also have competitive rates and offer good quality for those rates.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent somewhere between $250,000–$500,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The partnership started around September 2014 and is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They continuously do software development for this larger project. Their partnership has helped us cultivate and substantially expand the account with this healthcare provider.
How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?
We generally manage the projects internally and work directly with their developers. They send daily scrum updates and diligently stick to the schedule and update us whenever something is blocking them. They’re on top of the process and we’re happy with their operations.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Resourcing with them is great, especially compared to some of our other development teams. They have a very predictable resource capacity, which is helpful for our planning purposes. Their development matches the rates we pay them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We’ve had positive and negative experiences with the development quality. We recently took them off of Android development to focus solely on iOS. We’re very happy with their Unity and iOS developers, but their Android developers gave us mixed results.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They can execute any task that is well-defined and straightforward. Be very explicit when explaining your design and avoid excessive complexity if you can. Our projects have been relatively successful because we take a hands-on project management approach. It’s helpful to get on the phone with them. Their English is good and they make themselves available for weekly calls.

**The Review** — Feb 26, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Tintash worked collaboratively and delivered on time and on budget. Their project management was very attentive, and extensive internal code reviews have confirmed a very high quality of work.
"“They communicated clearly, coordinated with us effectively, and kept us updated with daily reports.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am a project manager and the principal engineer at a software development company with a focus on augmented/virtual reality. We also provide more typical software solutions for a range of companies, from startups to fully-fledged enterprises.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We were working on an iOS project that required resources we were unable to provision internally.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash provided us with additional developers that helped us in executing the project, and we managed them internally. We gathered product specifications and user stories and worked with them to prioritize, implement, and ultimately deliver. It was a very close collaboration despite the distance between our two companies.

The project we were working on was a virtual closet app that allows users to take photographs of their wardrobe and create outfits out of them. Users can also create style presets and share them with friends through the app. Its share functionality was a key priority, and we needed it to be seamless.

What is the team composition?

I worked with two developers, one QA specialist, and one project manager. We asked for developers that were most competent and most interested in this project, and they certainly delivered on that request.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

We were referred to them by someone internally. We were evaluating other companies, but we ultimately went with Tintash due to their immediate availability.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested $25,000-$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July of 2017, and we are set to conclude the engagement by the end of February. Tintash has fulfilled all obligations and delivered on all requirements.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

From a logistical perspective, they were both on time and on budget, which are key. In terms of their quality of output, after extensive internal code reviews, we’ve had no complaints whatsoever.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed very well. They communicated clearly, coordinated with us effectively, and kept us updated with daily reports. We used a combination of Slack and Jira for daily communication/task management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very good at following directions and sticking to a plan. I’ve worked with many developers in the past and many have worked too independently in working through backlogs, often diverging from expectations and ignoring important parameters. We did not have this problem with Tintash.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were some situations in which the team may have been unsure about certain aspects of the project but went ahead without asking questions or providing suggestions. We valued their input and wanted to see them be a bit more forthcoming when there were issues.

Advice for potential customers?

Do everything you can to define your requirements and specifications as clearly as possible before going into the engagement. Any ambiguity is an invitation for possible shortcomings.

**The Review** — Jan 25, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Thanks to the account manager’s communication and organization, the development process went smoothly and they delivered the products within the deadline. Their UI work was of an especially high quality, their collaboration has been effective, and they are viewed as a critical part of the team.
""Tintash delivers work at a good value, and they are extremely responsive and flexible."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the Chief Technology Officer of a company whose main product is a cloud-connected and portable medical device.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We needed assistance on Android development, and at the time we were building up our in-house team.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

In the beginning, our Tintash resource was primarily focused on the user interface (UI) development. We have two Android apps—one for virtual reality presentation and one for administrative control and user management on a tablet—and they did a first draft of the UI for the latter. They also built some data model into the app, and then we transitioned that resource to being in-house for full development of the app.

A few things overall in which they were involved for this specific project include user management, the authentication and device connection workflow (minus the actual authentication backend), and the creation of member profiles. More recently, they assisted us with a proof of concept on the iOS platform for data collection, and we are in the midst of interviewing a candidate from Tintash for web development.

What is the team composition?

Initially, our team was made up of a mix of Tintash and some outsourced help, which evolved to Tintash and an in-house team as we completed that process. During this first project with Tintash, we worked with one developer and Jazib Zahir [COO, Tintash], who was our account manager and oversaw most of the coordination between our teams. Currently, we also use a design resource from them to help generate some UI expansion, as well as our user manual and some marketing materials.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

An engineering colleague personally recommended them, and we hired Tintash based on that advice.

How much have you invested with them?

We have invested somewhere around US$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together around March of 2016, and the relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have been deploying the application since the summer of 2017, and the user feedback has been universally positive since then.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They were particularly strong at project management. Jazib is very good about keeping track of timelines, deliverables, and the overall communication between stakeholders. Otherwise, we largely kept the task management in-house.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were critical to the early development of our primary application, particularly with regard to its UI, and thereafter produced a polished production application. Additionally, their communication is especially good, and they are well organized. Tintash delivers work at a good value, and they are very responsive and flexible. Overall, they are extremely good at delivering what you set out for them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

During the course of the project, we did feel that we needed a senior developer managing the architecture. It has been a long time since we began that specific process, but I believe I had the impression that such a resource was not available to us, although having one would have been useful.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure that you have a high-level review, and request a senior developer to guide the process.

**The Review** — Jan 9, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Tintash utilized Sprints in an effective manner, ultimately allowing for a more progressive and transparent development process. Their consistency and ability to deliver by deadline was impressive, as well as their dedication to fixing bugs in short amounts of time.
"“They are one of the strongest partners we’ve worked with.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and CEO of a startup IT company which develops English learning software for business professionals.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We needed to develop a proof of concept or MVP (minimum viable product).

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We had a rough code base from where we’d done some development before, but Tintash extended it and added some features that we requested. The platform is a mix between an application and a game. They were able to implement the various features regarding speech recognition and character animation. The app was developed for iOS, but because we use Unity, it is a cross-platform that’s also compatible with Android.

We had our own UX designer who put mockups together, and then Tintash worked from those. It wasn’t quite ready to release after they’d done the work. Our business model is B2B, so the app was a little different in that it wasn’t going to be released to the App Store. We wanted to sell to companies, which required us to do a bit of extra work afterwards.

What is the team composition?

We worked with four people in total. Their main developer was involved for the first couple of Skype calls and Sprint planning, but then he was called onto other projects. He left it to another developer, and we worked with them for the remainder of the project. He was more of a junior developer, but equally able.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

We wanted a company that had game development experience. At the time, I was looking to outsource development, and a contact here in Ireland recommended Tintash. I’d heard good reports on them, so I decided to contact them.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent around $8,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in May of 2016, and the project was completed in May of 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our company sells software to Japanese companies, and we do many of our business development sales directly to our networking departments.

We hired a CTO who designed the main software architecture, and then Tintash worked with that. There were a number of things they were really helpful with. An issue we had was the size of the images that we were using for the display-based animation. Many of the image files and download sizes were really big, but they were able to redesign it in such a way that compressed everything and made it more efficient.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They were pretty good. They were available full-time on the project, but were also juggling with other clients’ project. This may have caused deadlines to slip a bit. To be fair, I’m sure we also contributed to that by changing requirements or having them wait on our design decisions. In general, they were good and they work quickly.

I hadn’t really used Jira before, but they are pretty good in getting everything together into Sprints. They are one of the strongest partners we’ve worked with. They were very diligent in dividing all of their time and tasks on the system, which made it very easy to see the work that was done.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are reliable. They are very quick to kick off Sprints or projects, and are also consistent. I could rely on them to have features or bugs fixed in a short amount of time, which was usually a couple of days or a week. This was really important. Many developers can be a bit more undependable, but Tintash was quite reliable in terms of finishing things.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They might not be so strong on the QA side. I didn’t budget them to do any QA, but I’m sure they would have done it at an extra cost. We tended to do the QA on our side, and then test the features they’d done. We had some trouble with a system where extra levels could be downloaded, and there was a range of bugs that we had to go back and fix.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

There are a lot of important things which need to be prepared and decided on in the beginning so that Tintash can just get to work. This eliminates the need for them to wait around for decisions to be made or for tasks to be completed. Changing things halfway through a project will just waste time.

**Feedback Summary**: Adding the external team has greatly expedited the release of more games. Tintash’s team has sometimes not tested as much as expected, but overall, the quality of their deliverables has been high and they are delivered in a timely fashion.
""They contribute to our overall efficiency and ability to deliver."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of a company that makes mobile adventure games.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

We wanted to develop more games—puzzle games in particular. They were a bit more complicated than we felt like doing on our own.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We started with a small project. Our games (built in Unity and C#) normally have anywhere between 20–40 puzzles in them, which take a little bit more work to program, so we started Tintash off with a 2–3-puzzle project. We tested those and were pleased. Since then, we’ve ramped up our involvement with them. So far, they’ve contributed to about six games. Each game takes a couple of months to build.

What is the team composition?

We’ve had up to three people working on our games at a time, doing backend coding and general infrastructure. It comes and goes based on how busy we are. Right now, we have one software developer helping us.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

I found them through an email list for people interested in the game industry. I didn’t shop around that much. It turned out that a member of their team knew my brother from college. I saw them as a trusted source.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $50,000–$199,999.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2015 and the work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve certainly helped us produce more games. All our games are a mix of our effort and Tintash’s. For some games, they’re making over half the puzzles, which is very significant. They contribute to our overall efficiency and ability to deliver.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They estimate how long it takes for the puzzles they’re working on. They send emails every day about their progress and we use Trello to manage the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re really good at managing discrete pieces of work, then shooting them back and forth to us. They’re also pretty open to feedback.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes, they haven’t QAed their work very thoroughly before they send it to us. They test it, but not test all of the use cases. It’d be helpful if we could rely on them fully to do the testing.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Start with a small project to figure out how you work together with someone. It will be helpful to play through as much as you can play through or test the code quickly. Since they work remotely, too many days without looking at the work makes it feel like you lose touch with what’s going on.

While excellent project management enhances workflows, more creative output would benefit early development stages. A wide range of services increases versatility for ideal partnership.
""I give them an A-plus for project management and communication."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m CEO and founder of a company that develops and publishes kids’ apps.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash Apps?

We’re always looking for freelance developers for creative and technical functions. Recently, we needed a third-party to execute our ideas for kid’s brand, and then bring the app to market.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

In total, we’ve awarded Tintash contracts for 3 apps built on iOS and Android. Two of the apps are listed in the App Store and work on the third is imminent. They have done ad hoc work on some of our other apps as well, including QA.

The team provides remote project management for the production process. We collaborate on development, using video technology to monitor progress on wireframes and other milestones. They also interface with our clients, which are notable kids’ brands.

Additionally, they provide marketing materials and other collateral I may need for social media postings. While the team offers a wide range of services, we don’t use them all.

What is the team dynamic?

I work with 5-6 people total, but interface with 1 point person on a daily basis.

How did you come to work with Tintash Apps?

The founder contacted me, which led to an in-person meeting in New York. Our decision went against normal practice to not pursue cold calling.

What is the status of this engagement?

Work began June 2015 and is on-going.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The apps received favorable media attention. The first was on an important cable news show; Google and Apple featured the second one.

Metrics have been mixed; one app performed much better than the other. However, these results were not due to their work.

How did Tintash Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

I give them an A-plus for project management and communication. We use Google Docs to keep track of work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their engineering is great – quality coding and minimal bug issues.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They have good creative expertise and could bring out their creative side more during the consulting stage. It would compliment their technical skills well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be aware of all the services they offer. Depending on the project specifications, they can be perfect team partners.

**Feedback Summary**: The site launched to positive user feedback in terms of responsiveness, performance, and UI. The team actively improved their skills as the project went on, though they always had good communication and timely deliveries.
""They were flexible in terms of daily scrums, being willing to adjust times."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

HER Inc. has 2 properties. One is EmpowerHer.com, which is a women’s health blogging platform. The second one is called SkinSAFE Products, with a web presence and an iOS app. This deals with beauty and health topics. We're developing the product in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic. I am the CTO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash Apps?

We are a startup, so funding is a big thing for us. Hiring locally is expensive, so we decided to find an offshore team.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We started with SkinSAFE. I was using a different set of resources for EmpowerHer.com. The site is built in Ruby on Rails on the backend and the UI. I needed someone who also specialized in HTML for UI/UX.

The main feature is the algorithms in the backend. SkinSAFE is a personalized recommendation engine. The personalization happens at the ingredients level, not the product level. We can classify the ingredients, especially if someone has an allergy, and give a personalized set of recommendations.

What is the team dynamic?

We had 1 or 2 developers for Ruby on Rails and some QA resources. QA took care of all the testing. The developers would report directly to me.

How did you come to work with Tintash Apps?

My CEO knew about them through a VC group and recommended them.

How much have you invested with them?

We have spent between $170,000 and $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them over 2.5 years. The site was launched and they kept helping us with features.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site is standard and responsive. They did a good job in delivering the UI/UX and the performance side of things. We’ve had good feedback from the customers. Tintash didn’t develop the iOS app, but the QA person would give helpful suggestions on improvements.

How did Tintash Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

We used a project manager on our side. They were flexible in terms of daily scrums, being willing to adjust times and not fuss about it. Being offshore, they could provide 24-hour support.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication stood out, particularly their English skills. My project manager and I didn’t have to repeat ourselves all the time. I gave them specifications of what to do and not do. Their abilities grew as we continued using them. They were able to take on projects and deliver on time without me doing much.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s more on their management side. Sometimes we had to call a few times, but they worked to take care of things. They are based in Pakistan, and there are internet issues there from time to time.

#### Mobile Game Design & Development
**The Project**
- Services: Mobile App Development

**Feedback Summary**: Tintash’s contribution to the games’ success is tangible, with one of the apps receiving 25 million downloads. The team excels at general project management, particularly meeting project timelines and understanding particular business needs of their clients.
""[They] are realistic in what they can do, and don’t oversell themselves."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the CEO of Stick Sports Ltd., a mobile-games developer and publisher focusing on sports games across mobile platforms.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash?

In 2010, we needed someone to produce a mobile version of our game, since we lacked the internal skills. We wanted help with the codebase, rather than design considerations.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash has worked on multiple projects for us over many years, for the same core group of products. Most recently, they’ve also provided some graphics work and design concepts, as well as handling the core technology—building the games’ codebase. We’ve been limited in terms of what we’ve asked of Tintash, only asking for Cocos2d-x development at the moment, not due to a lack in their capabilities, but because of our requirements.

They’ve been integral in taking games from codebase to delivery in stores, and have also performed ongoing management. They’ve been responsible for the bug- and beta-testing programs we have in place. Tintash built the initial games based on our designs, which we then publish to a beta market. This is a rapid process that involves making changes and fixing bugs.

What is the team dynamic?

We’ve worked on several projects, ranging from 3 to 7 person teams. They tend to be code-heavy, utilizing a project manager with a lead developer, and 1-2 junior developers. Additionally, Tintash will involve a graphics person, and overlay this with a couple of QA people.

How did you come to work with Tintash?

They approached us. We had started a project with another third-party company in the UK and it had stalled. We decided to cancel that contract and heard pitches from Tintash and one other company. We chose them based on their understanding of project requirements and ability to deliver.

More recently, we’ve retained them to do work because of their understanding of our needs going forward, which has been developed over the years. Tintash has been responsive to this, and we haven’t found anyone comparable, even though we’re approached regularly by other contractors. None have given us the confidence Tintash has.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost has been in the hundreds of thousands range. They are quite reasonable in terms of pricing, and we haven’t found Tintash to be either ridiculously cheap or overly expensive.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Tintash in 2010.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Tintash has been working on a particular piece of IT for about 2 years, which has generated around 25 million downloads in that time. It’s reached the number 1 position in various country app stores, and has dominated in the core countries it was marketed towards for a number of years. There’s no denying their team’s involvement and impact in helping us deliver this result.

How did Tintash perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re good at project timelines. We employ our own project manager (or managers) to control the outsourced relationship. Inevitably, this is a tough relationship to have, but Tintash’s people have always shown themselves to be responsive, sometimes under difficult circumstances.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a good management team, are realistic in what they can do, and don’t oversell themselves. This is quite important in an outsourced partner.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve in terms of the types of technologies offered, and platforms used for development. Overall, Tintash has been responsive and I have little to fault them on.

**The Review** — Oct 4, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The app was a good fit for educational goals, and end users found it engaging and helpful. Their graphic design skills are internationally competitive, and their gaming experience added immense value. Their professional project management, collaboration, and attention to detail are clear strengths.
""Tintash understood our needs, and they were easy to communicate with."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the director of Askvisor, a provider of innovation and business consulting to small and medium-sized businesses. We work with them from ideation to product launch.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash Apps?

One of our clients has been in the field of education for adult learners, with a focus on workplace English courses. Their instructors were still delivering content in a traditional way. We wanted to develop a solution for them to gamify delivery of part of their content via an app, allowing learners to acquire basic vocabulary in a fun and engaging environment. Students are busy, so we needed to present bite-sized content in a fun way.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash handled the initial game design concept, as well as the coding and implementation of the Android app and backend server. They coded on the Unity framework, but we focused on Android, because the school only uses tablets on that platform.

The design process was collaborative. I provided a brief with background information on the app’s usage, and they provided ideas through an iterative process.

Our original intention was to use the app for various languages, but so far we’ve only used it for English. It targets students who need to learn the language for their workplace, and it works similarly to the game Fruit Ninja, where players slice fruit by swiping the screen. Instead of fruit, short phrases are displayed with a word missing. Users have to choose the correct word to slice.

It’s a B2B product for language schools and isn’t targeted at consumers. We published it on our client’s account.

What is the team dynamic?

We worked with an account director, an account manager, and a senior developer who oversaw the whole project. A QA [quality assurance] person and a graphic designer also participated in the game design. These resources were involved on an as-needed basis. We had two people involved full-time: A frontend developer for Android who received weekly reviews from the senior person, and a backend system engineer.

How did you come to work with Tintash Apps?

We put out a request for proposal, shortlisted about three companies, and made reference calls. One of the candidates was from Vietnam, and our CTO was concerned about their English communication.

Tintash professionally presented their proposal and came back with a detailed hours estimate for each part of the project. Their English communication wasn’t an issue, so we selected them.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost of their work was between $30,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Tintash around October 2015. The project ended in February 2016.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our client implemented the app for its beginner English class. We received good feedback from the users, who found it engaging and helpful for exposing them to basic vocabulary. It tied in well with the school’s learning system, where students learn some of the vocabulary before class so teachers can focus more on having conversations.

We didn’t develop the app for an audience beyond our client. This was about our business model, rather than the product. We approached other language schools with the app, and they were excited about it, but it’s difficult to compete with the many free English-learning products available. Marketing it worldwide would be a sustainability challenge because we’d have to attract more than 100,000 users.

How did Tintash Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

I would rate them as professional. They use the Agile Scrum approach, with clear reporting of their past progress and upcoming task setup every Monday. Along the way, our CTO had Skype calls and messaged with them on an as-needed basis, as issues came up or needed further input.

Overall, the project was well-managed, and we had a clear understanding of the general project status and progress.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Tintash has experience designing games, and they were able to design an actual product from our rough concepts. They were very strong in terms of incorporating input we gave and participating in the process.

Project management is one of their strengths, as is their attention to detail. They have an international approach in terms of graphics and developer mindset, compared to teams from India or Vietnam. The demands in terms of style and graphic design are different in those countries, so it takes many more conversations to get to the same vision. Tintash understood our needs, and they were easy to communicate with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

My CTO wanted to use a new technology for the backend, so Tintash had to bring in an external consultant to guide their system engineer. This added some cost to the project. However, they chose a good resource and have a solid sourcing network for expertise they lack internally.

**The Review** — Sep 5, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Support from Tintash was crucial to releasing a viable beta version of the app to public testers. The team's meticulous project management style, organized approach to development, and technical skill kept the process running smoothly. They provided good quality for an affordable cost.
""[T]hey manage their projects very well, and identify questions and gaps very quickly."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm a co-founder of Embr Labs, a Massachusetts-based technology company that's building wearable products for thermal comfort. We came out of MIT about four years ago. As co-founder, I primarily act as a product manager. We started working with Tintash to develop a mobile app that was going to accompany our first product. At that stage, we had a rough idea of the objectives for what the app should do. We were working with a product design firm on the user experience side of the app, but we chose Tintash to do the development.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash Apps?

We were trying to build a product that offers value on its own without being dependent on an app. We realized a lot of our users may benefit from some of the usage data that our product is generating to learn more about their thermal comfort, behavior, and so forth. We also plan on releasing upgrades to our product firmware every so often, so the app is a convenient way for users to have access to those upgrades.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We started in Q1 of 2017 and we had a rough mockup of the main screen. We were scoping out a first version of the project. We agreed upon a schedule and a division of responsibilities. From there, we worked towards a kind of first viable version of the app. As of September 5th, we're sharing the app with beta testers. There's dual project management; I am the owner of the product the app, setting the pace and deciding what needs to be prioritized from the client perspective. We have a project manager on that Tintash side who does more day to day project management of the actual app development. There's iterative work back and forth, typically between the Tintash team and my team, where we clarify details of the app.

We're going to be submitting the first version again to the iTunes store for beta testing. In the next few months, we'll be submitting the app to iTunes for public demos, and I expect that further down the road will put on an Android version, and add features.

The app has most of the functionality that we wanted at this nascent stage because we challenged ourselves to keep the app as simple as possible and avoid scope creep.

Bluetooth is the main focus of the hardware, but we also wanted to have a backend that we could access to load new versions of the product firmware. We also wanted to access user data and download it on the backend. Lastly, we wanted integration with the big data analysis tools.

What is the team dynamic?

We had a project manager who was our main point of contact. We interact with the project manager regularly, and on busy days, we speak with the engineers. We usually collaborate on Slack, and we use project management and repository tools as well. Their team is between 2 and 4 people depending on the phase of the project.

How did you come to work with Tintash Apps?

Our product design firm collaborated with them in the past, and recommended them as a development partner.

Finding lists of vendors is not very difficult. The two difficult things were, one, finding a vendor that you could easily trust. The second, was making sense of multiple estimates. It was really hard to compare. Quotes looked completely different, timelines varied, and the process wasn't always clear. It was difficult getting to the point where we actually understood what was implied in each given estimate. We questioned everything. Tintash clarified things well, and they had a clear sense of what it takes to complete this project.

How much have you invested with them?

10,000 U.S. dollars.

What is the status of this engagement?

January of 2017 is when we began, and our work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are, at this stage, feeling ready to send the app to existing product beta testers. We can start learning from their usage data and learning about how they're using the product so that we can make it better, which is a huge business objective achieved.

How did Tintash Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

I think having the project manager around is extremely invaluable. Their technical team is very good, yet a project manager is critical in order to manage projects  well, and identify questions and gaps quickly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I think the most impressive thing is the ratio of professionalism to cost is very high. We feel like we're getting a level of delivery that's more representative of what you would have in the United States. The cost is more representative of an offshore firm, but their ability to work with us is more representative of a European or U.S. firm.

Are there any areas they could improve?

After an active sprint, we tried taking a break from the regular project management meetings and tried talking to the engineers only. We realized that this was a mistake. Regular project management meetings are really valuable to make sure that the project is staying on a  solid schedule. Project management is important because otherwise, their engineers tend to get a little bit carried away. The quality slips if they don't have somebody managing on their side.

Do you have any advice for potential clients of Tintash Apps?

Spend some time articulating the specific graphic elements that you want implemented before the start of the project. The Tintash team is probably better at implementing engineering solutions than they are about designing graphic elements. Having that specified first is probably the best way to make the project optimally efficient.

""Tintash genuinely cared about and took ownership of the project.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Joyful Works is a micro video games company based in London, UK. We develop our own titles and offer development services. I am the owner of the company and act as developer and producer for our projects.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Tintash Apps?

Since we are a micro company, we sometimes hire additional resources for our video game projects. In this project, we needed to outsource all of the 2D art production and some of the software development.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Tintash provided us with a 2D artist, a software engineer, and a project manager who oversaw the work on their side and made sure the resources delivered on time and according to our requirements.

We were developing a casual puzzle game that required drawing gestures on mobile phone touchscreens. We wanted the game to be in line with the anime visual style. We asked Tintash to develop a prototype or a demo version of the software that included gesture recognition features. For the visual assets, we provided them with a guideline regarding style and some technical requirements for asset production and delivery.

The game targets pretty much everyone; it doesn’t have a specific demographic. We never released the game, to be honest. This project was a proof of concept. We did this work with Tintash, and then my video design colleague and I tested it. We decided to come up with some new mechanics for the game. We didn’t think too much about the target audience at that time. We just had an idea and wanted to try it out. Tintash did a good job, and we’re planning to use them again after adopting some new mechanics.

How did you come to work with Tintash Apps?

I didn’t consider other agencies at the time. I met a founder of Tintash at a game convention in Paris in 2014. He told me about their services. Then, in 2015, I decided to partner with Tintash for our next game. I didn’t approach anyone else because I wanted to see how Tintash worked and determine if they’d be a viable option for future projects.

What is the status of this engagement?

I think we started the project in April of 2015, and we finished in late July or early August of that year.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

This project was a proof of concept. We received the outcome but decided the mechanics that we’d described were not fun. Tintash didn’t do anything wrong. The game just wasn’t engaging, so we discarded it.

How did Tintash Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

Tintash was a professional and reliable partner throughout the project. They continuously monitored the performance of the resources they provided and took action whenever we came face to face with a risk that would reduce the quality of the work delivered. Both the resources and the project manager acted like a permanent part of the team and put in the effort to create the best long-term outcome.

What did you find most impressive about Tintash Apps?

They don’t approach a task by simply fulfilling the requirements dictated by another person; they try to add value to the work, which I really appreciate. The project manager always monitored the work, and the developers suggested ideas for improvement. This kind of feedback is valuable, especially since I’m working with a small team. Tintash genuinely cared about and took ownership of the project.

Are there any areas Tintash Apps could improve?

It’s been 2 years since we worked together, but I think they could improve their automation tools. For monitoring and delivery of datasets, they were relying on spreadsheets in Google Drive. This wasn’t useful for tracking tasks and asset statuses. I’d rather use a project management automation tool collaboratively. At the time, I was using JIRA and Confluence. I asked their resources to use my automation system, but I’d rather they offer something on their side as well.

**The Review** — Jun 11, 2015

**Feedback Summary**: The client enjoys working with Tintash Labs. The agency communicates effectively and takes feedback well. Tintash Labs is slower than the client would like to solve problems at times, but are always available and responsive.
""Tintash Labs has been very responsive. I've been really happy with that specific aspect of working with them.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

We are a nonprofit located in San Francisco and we employ about a hundred people. Our website is oriented toward parents. We also have another part of our work that's oriented toward teachers and students.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal in working with Tintash Labs?

The primary app that Tintash has been working on is for parents and families, which is designed to help them choose age-appropriate media to watch as families or for their kids. It takes our age ratings and reviews of media from our website, and puts it in an app format, both for Android and iOS. They've also worked to a lesser extent on a couple other apps for us, but that's the main one they've been working on.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their work.

Their work is almost entirely mobile app development. We have a certain number of their developers and project managers assigned to us, so it's not project based. The work is ongoing, and we're always improving the app.

What was your process in selecting Tintash Labs?

They've been working with us for a couple of years now, and I wasn't the one who selected them. It was actually my boss who selected them, and I really don't know how that happened. I think that he knew one of the principals, but I'm not really sure how they met.

Can you give a sense of the cost of their work?

I believe we are spending about $130,000 a year working with Tintash Labs.

When did you start working with them?

We started working together in 2013, and we are still currently working with them. We have a certain number of developers and project managers assigned to our organization, so the work is ongoing, not project based.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What were the results of their work?

In terms of responsiveness, which is of paramount importance when you're working with an offshore developer, Tintash Labs has been very responsive. Even when I email my project manager in the middle of their night, he will often get in touch with me right away. I've been really happy with that specific aspect of working with them.

A weakness would be that it's hard to know how up to the very latest standards they are, especially in the iOS area, which is changing so quickly as new versions are released, and there are so many new technologies around iOS. Sometimes, I'm not sure whether they are always able to keep up, but when I point something out, they're very responsive.

We're a nonprofit, and it's very hard to hire internal developers because it's so very expensive. Tintash Labs is not perfect, but I feel like they're a really good solution for us, and I really personally enjoy working with them. As people, they're very easy to work with. They're great partners, but the time difference can be challenging, even though they're very responsive. If you were to work with a modern end-to-end design and development app firm. However, you might get people who are more focused on what's next with iOS and Android.

Is there anything unique or special about Tintash Labs that really makes them stand out?

I think the value is really what makes them stand out. They are very easy to communicate with. They all speak excellent English and are very good communicators. When we have to deal with the time difference, we don't want to add communication problems on top of that. So, they're all really smart, a quality group of people.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

There have been times when we had to have a talk with them, either because there was a problem that they weren't solving quickly enough for us, or they didn't understand the urgency of an issue that we were having with a live app. There have been one or two times when we needed to call some of the principals for help. They've always been super responsive and corrected those problems very quickly, and we haven't had those same problems again. Sure, they make mistakes, and they can't always read our minds, but they're very responsive and great communicators.

What advice would you give a future client of theirs?

Although their project management is very strong, I think it's really good to have a pretty clear idea of what a client is looking for in considerable detail. I think that's true with any developer. That will help things go faster. My understanding is that Tintash Labs works more on games than consumer apps, so it's possible that this has been sort of a learning experience for everybody on both sides. We have a mobile cash server, we have APIs [application programming interfaces] to our main site. There are a lot of things going on under the hood. So, I think being really clear about the product a client wants to have built is very important.

**Feedback Summary**: Tintash Labs succeeded as the client’s partner by developing a well-functioning app that receives positive feedback from its users. The agency is praised for their best practices. Tintash Labs are highly recommended to others.
""The app could've been created in a lot of ways, but I think they [Tintash Labs] took the best route.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company.

ForFit is the first fitness app to introduce social and charitable forfeits to motivate users into getting fit. We are encouraging fitness beginners to get fit through gamification, charitable forfeits, and the most powerful motivation known to man: embarrassing Facebook posts.

What is your role in the company?

I'm a co-founder.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal in working with Tintash Labs?

We had the idea and the wireframes for an iOS application. We approached Tintash because people in the company I used to work for recommended them.

Please describe the scope of their work.

It was to develop the iOS MVP for our GPS based app. We're actually taking part in an accelerator program here in Portugal at the moment, so they're still doing some updates on the iOS. We have another person here working on the Web side of things.

**SOLUTION**
What was your process in selecting Tintash Labs?

I got a few quotes from various companies, and I went for Tintash on recommendations from a few people. I was told they were really good, efficient, and cost effective as well, so I decided to go with them.

Can you give a sense of the cost of the initiative?

We've spend approximately €12,000 [approximately $13,500] working with Tintash.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What were the results of the project?

We started working together in March 2014, and we're still working together. They're doing updates at the moment. We're almost finished with the iOS, but we will continue to use them when we have further updates in a few months.

Do you have any statistics or metrics on the project?

We don't have anything in the way of metrics or analytics yet. But, going forward from now, we will. The app seems to perform well on mobile phones, and it's very easy on the battery. We've got a lot of good feedback for the usability of the app. It's very smooth.

One of the reasons that we went with Tintash is because we heard that they are very efficient, and the project was very well organized. I had calls with them, and most days all of the tracking was very efficient. The turnarounds on new builds went very smoothly. I was working full time at another job at that same time, and there was a bit of a time difference, so considering that, it actually went very smoothly. I definitely recommend them. We're still working with them on the hardware, and that's going well.

Is there anything unique or special about Tintash Labs that really makes them stand out?

They excel at best practices. We went in not knowing too much about iOS development, so we trusted them to use the best practices to optimize the app. People here in this accelerator program are just looking at the techniques they used, and all the data that we have is up on Google Store.

So, whatever they did, they did it in the best-optimized way, and no one's having any problems using any of their codes or accessing any information. The app could've been created in a lot of ways, but I think they took the best route. The project was well planned, and for the updates, we can easily implement new features because they've setup the framework.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

There were a few misunderstandings, but I think that was probably just more from my point of view. We made recommendations that we just didn't have the money to integrate. Had we known more about what we were doing, we might have integrated more analytics. We just didn't understand the full development process.

I'm not able to compare Tintash to a lot of other developers, as they are the only one I have worked with directly.

What advice would you give a future client of theirs?

I would say narrow down the scope completely. There was one feature that we wanted to incorporate into the app, but through miscommunication somewhere down the line, we went ahead with a different approach. Then, later, we were looking at other apps and realized the feature was doable so we added it to the scope. I think if a client narrows the scope at the outset, this kind of problem could be avoided.

There was also an additional cost that we weren't expecting. We assumed that certain things were standard and would be included in the initial quote, but they ended up being extras because it was out of scope. So, the important thing is narrowing down the full scope in the early stages and getting a more detailed quote. Just find out how much everything will be and make sure you have everything covered.

**The Review** — May 20, 2015

**Feedback Summary**: Tintash Labs succeeds as the client’s partner by helping them achieve their goals; the agency delivered quality work on time. Tintash Labs are recognized for their outstanding communication skills and are recommended to others.
""They [Tintash Labs] were flexible and adaptable to the problem and issues encountered, and very resourceful when dealing with issues.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please give a brief description of your company.

LifePrint is startup company that is developing a socially connected mobile photo print experience. It is developing a small mobile connected printer that can be carried with you or left at home. Of course, you can print to your own printer locally or remotely, but it also offers a socially networked experience that allow you to send images to your friends printers, and they to yours using a classic follower/followed model. This works on the small scale, such as sending a cute picture of your kids to your extended family, or on a large scale – think of a celebrity sending a snapshot of a moment in their day to their fan base.

What is your role at the company?

I am the CTO and, as such, I drive architecture and technology decisions, intellectual property strategy, and product development.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was the business challenge that you were trying to address when you approached Tintash Labs?

Having developed an architectural approach, we were looking to implement the first version of the cloud services and IOS app that would bring our socially networked printing experience to life.

What were your company's business goals for the project?

We wanted to develop the first instantiation of the supporting system; develop an app with defined set of functionality, workflows, and initial look and feel of the initial user experience; demonstrate the system to potential investors and strategic partners; identify issues with the operational flow and user experience as early in the process as possible; and hold to a initial development budget.

Can you talk about the scope of the project?

The scope covered the development of the entire system, included an iPhone app, a cloud service layer, and an initial Bluetooth printer interface. It also included a developing initial workflow and integrating GUI [graphical user interface] design assets developed by a design house we were also working with.

**SOLUTION**
What was your process for selecting Tintash Labs with which to work?

Tintash was selected prior to my starting in my current position. Tintash was highly recommended to the CEO of LifePrint from someone who had worked with them in the past. When I came on board, the decision was already made. In my early interaction with Tintash, I was favorably impressed with their knowledge of the problem domain and their attention to detail, so I was comfortable with the decision.

Can you give us a sense of the size of the project in dollar terms or personnel work hours?

The project was budgeted at 2,500 man-hours, and the project came in under budget.

When did you start working with Tintash Labs and is the relationship ongoing?

My first interaction with Tintash started in early of 2013. We kicked off formal development in August 2013. The relationship is ongoing. We are currently in the process of quoting the next wave of development work.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What were the results of the project, and are there any metrics you can share?

We were extremely satisfied with the results achieved. As I indicated, the project came in under the estimate and the budget we established. We had created a detailed list of functionality with more than 150 features that we wanted for our initial release, and we achieved 95 percent of those goals; those not achieved were issues that were more complicated than first thought and we mutually decided to forego those items. The resulting system worked well and allowed us to demonstrate the system to investors and partners. Thus, it met both tactical and strategic goals. We were very pleased with the results that Tintash delivered.

How did Tintash Labs perform?

[They did] very well. [They have] great communications, great attention to detail, [and are] firmly committed to their delivery goals. When problems were identified, they were very creative at suggesting fixes and alternatives. [They were] very responsive and aggressive in closing out defect reports. [We had] a very positive work experience and a very positive relationship.

When working with them, was there anything unique or special about them compared to other companies with which you may have worked?

[Some examples include] extremely reasonable charge rates given the expertise they demonstrated and the quality they delivered; our point of contact was Murad [Akhter], one of the founders of the company – a very smart and reasonable person with excellent communication skills and a delight to work with; He made interactions effective, efficient, and pleasant; they are not as rigid as some companies I have worked with – they were flexible and adaptable to the problem and issues encountered, and very resourceful when dealing with issues; Extremely committed to delivering a solid product - this was backed by an very impressive work ethic.

Looking back on the project, is there any area that they could improve or you would do differently?

Not really, given the number of things we were attempting to do in a first development cycle, and the fact that a lot of this was pioneering new workflows and experiences, the effort went surprisingly smoothly. Based upon early learning, we did change some of the requirements in flight, and Tintash was very reasonable in dealing with this.

What advice would you give to a future client of theirs?

Proactive communications is the key – both written and verbal. The more Tintash understands what you want to accomplish, the better they can help you.

Be prepared to leverage their experience and expertise. When we were unsure of how to deal with an issue, Murad and Tintash always came up with good viable options and worked with us to manage the process going forward.
