Simple Recon is a solution designed to streamline the reconditioning process for used car dealerships. Our platform tracks vehicles from purchase to frontline status, reducing reconditioning time to under five days. We needed Third Rock Techkno’s help in refining the Angular features of the platform to improve its usability and integrate more seamless workflows. Key deliverables included optimizing the interface, enhancing real-time communication features, and improving performance to ensure a smooth experience for users.

ThirdRock developed the mobile application from start to finish. They had several deliverables that broke down the project into digestiable pieces. We scoped out the user flows, then developed wireframes and then their backend team created the functionality that would power the app. The went through the entire testing flow to get the app ready for the App store and Google Play store and then successfully launched the app in both stores.

The Third Rock Techkno team had a few dedicated people working on my account, which I appreciated. There was one point person for the business and contract side and another for the dev side. They outlined the project upfront with dedicated deliverables.

During the build, the team did discover that something we wanted to build was not possible, so we ended up deviating from the originally intended project quite a bit, but throughout the process the tech lead was extremely helpful in talking through the alternate options and how it would impact the app.

The app was delayed on delivery, but communication was constant throughout and we arrived at updated delivery dates together. They were r to all requests and needs as they came up and always presented thoughtful solutions to problems. The team addressed my questions thoughtfuly and dilligently.

The tech lead was wonderful. He spent a lot of time to ensure that the product would work as intended and that bugs were bashed quickly. His attention to detail was wonderful

The project was a landing page project. Our designers sent TRT a design and it was their job to make it look exactly like the design file, as well as implement some more complicated solutions for some sections of the page. They've matched it perfectly to the design, and came up with creative solutions to the problems we've encountered them with.

We've worked with Vatsal and 3 other developers. Vatsal has done an incredible job of facilitating communications and ensuring we're aware of every thing there is to be aware of in the project. The developers worked quickly and efficiently.

I’m the founder and CEO of Sharit. We provide near-field communication (NFC) tags and software for writing on those tags to allow the sharing of contact information from one user to another.

What challenge were you trying to address with Third Rock Techkno?

We needed help developing a mobile app for NFC tags.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Third Rock developed an Android and iOS app that allows people to use NFC tags and write information on them. Users can link their social media profiles on the app to integrate their contact information, such as phone number and location. The app writes that information on the NFC tag, and it makes a connection between the tags and our website.

Initially, we had some calls and Skype chats to discuss what the app should be like. We provided the design and a list of requirements to Third Rock. They researched similar apps from other companies to gain ideas.

As soon as Third Rock knew what they had to do, they sent me a detailed paper describing all the functions and splitting the project into five milestones. They sent me an iteration of the app after each phase to secure my approval.

The first milestone was project planning and initial setup — Third Rock set up the database and general architecture of the app. After this, they created the signup, login, and onboarding process, and they built profiles and general elements like the menu. Third Rock then developed the core functions like reading and writing NFC tags.

Third Rock has only recently finished the app, and I’ve only shown it to friends and colleagues. We’ll launch it after it’s approved on app stores.

We work with a project manager, a backend, frontend, and mobile developer, and a QA engineer.

We had a strict set of wireframes, which Third Rock used very well. As a result, the app looks exactly like our wireframes. However, we don’t have any user feedback at this point. 

How did Third Rock Techkno perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve been in close contact throughout the development process. I can contact Third Rock whenever I have a question, and I’ll usually get an answer within a few minutes. It takes longer sometimes because of the time difference. They text me whenever they need anything, and I send them whatever they need. We use Skype for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We are impressed with their professionalism and relatively low price. If something wasn’t the way I wanted it, they would fix it as soon as possible.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They do an excellent job, but I’m German, so everything has to be perfect. The project took a bit longer than planned, but it was more our fault than Third Rock’s. Ultimately, I’m glad I chose them.

Anyone working with developers should explain everything in detail from the beginning.

Me and my team interviewed over 10 different agencies based on skills, experience, and cost. By far, Third Rock Techkno was the best. They assigned 3 different team members on our project just for communication.

We have an open line of communication with then and get daily updates on the project. No one else does that.

Describe the project in detail.

The first step of the project was to design every screen of the admin dashboard and mobile app. The user experience was very important to us. We lay tremendous importance to design.

Then, we worked on the technical writeup which is the blue print of the app. Third Rock Techkno developed the admin dashboard and mobile app according to the original designs without even a single mistake. I've never seen that before.

The admin dashboard was developed with PHP and the mobile app was developed for iOS and Android.

What was the team composition?

They assigned 3 agents just for communication. However the team that worked on our project was larger than 3. I think these 3 agents are the managers of a larger team. Which made the project run easier, smoother, and faster.

The team consists of developers, project managers, and QA experts.

So far the project turned out as a success. We already have actual users using the app and so far we are getting great feedback. No technical issues, no errors, and no complaints. That means, happy clients.

I'm very impressed with their communication and dedication. Even after we went live, they continued giving us support (even until today). We are able to communicate with them through Skype, email, and even phone calls.
