We needed an IT and cybersecurity service provider to manage our servers, technical issues, and data protection.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Texaport is responsible for our IT and cybersecurity. The team has replaced our main server and ensures it functions appropriately. Texaport manages our Microsoft software and offers technical support for our hardware. The team manages our email accounts and provides troubleshooting through a ticketing system. Texaport supports equipment purchase and installation. We also use them as a consultancy. 

What is the team composition?

We work with Hang (Account Manager), who is my main point of contact. We also work with a team of around five teammates, including Cameron (Senior IT Engineer) and Stephen (IT Support Engineer).

How did you come to work with Texaport?

I wasn't involved in the hiring process since I didn't work at my company at the time.
How much have you invested with them?

We spend £1,800 (approximately $2,300 USD) monthly on this project and pay extra fees for additional services.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working at my company in August 2023, and our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Texaport is a valuable team and constantly resolves technical issues and software access issues. 

How did Texaport perform from a project management standpoint?

Texaport stays on budget, and timelines don't always depend on them since we work with a third party to get a certification, and sometimes that third party is delayed. Texaport offers support through a ticketing system, and we can call a contact number and write tickets via email.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I want to highlight our team of engineers, including Cameron and Stephen. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I'd like to have access to see which teammates are assigned to our account and what tasks they're working on. The team has a turnover staff, and I'd like to see an itemized list of the work we're paying for.

Trust Texaport because you're in good hands, and the team is experts in their field. You can trust Texaport will solve problems for you and succeed in an efficient way.

I’m the communications director of a premium food hall. Within this marketplace, we have 12 independent businesses, including bars, kitchens, food stores, and boutique retailers.

We required IT support. As we set up our company and business, IT came under one of my responsibilities. Later, as we grew and became more successful, it became quite clear that we needed help with IT solutions.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Texaport provides us with managed IT services and cybersecurity. Their services have been primarily remote, but they've also been on-site. Although they haven't installed software or hardware for us, they've installed a piece of software needed to access our systems remotely.

Moreover, Texaport has engaged with service providers on our behalf. For example, they manage our Microsoft 365, and whenever we need to install plug-ins associated with that, they help us with that.

What is the team composition?

We have one point of contact from Texaport; our account manager. Still, I know other members of their team are working on our account.

How did you come to work with Texaport?

We have an informal policy to work with local businesses to keep our economic footprint local. This policy doesn't only apply to the food and drink places we host, but also to the service providers we work with. Thus, I looked for potential local partners, and Texaport had a good reputation. They had worked with companies and people I knew, so I did more research on them before hiring them.

Texaport wasn't the only company I contacted, though. I contacted two or three other companies to see what kind of service and price they could offer. Texaport stood out from the rest because they were very keen to come into our office and meet us in person, which I thought was a very important element for our negotiation. They took the time to have a face-to-face meeting to try and build trust. On that occasion, our senior management team met with them.

We initially contacted Texaport in March 2023, and they came on board in April 2023. Our engagement is ongoing.

The service provided by Texaport is very good. They've certainly helped us save time and stress. The quality of their work is great, so I have no complaints.

How did Texaport perform from a project management standpoint?

Texaport delivers on time, stays within budget, and communicates well with us. We communicate with them through a help desk email address. Whenever we send them a ticket, they usually respond very fast. Overall, they're quite accessible.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Our account manager is always very enthusiastic and quick to respond and get the job done.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Texaport's biggest strength is their responsiveness.

• Comprehensive setup of Microsoft 365, ensuring all applications and services were properly integrated. This included configuring email, calendar, Microsoft Office apps & Power BI online workspace.
• Regular updates and maintenance are part of this service, keeping our system secure and efficient, and ensuring we always have access to the latest features and improvements from Microsoft.

Website Consultation, Hosting, and Data Storage:

• Expert guidance in the development of a new website, focusing on security & functionality.
• Hosting services; providing a reliable & scalable solution to ensure our website remained accessible and performed well under various traffic conditions.
• A data storage solution was provided, focusing on security and scalability, to handle the growing data needs of our business.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We're incredibly happy by the work provided by Texaport! Their consultation on the website allowed us to make informed decision and move forward with a great setup. Additionally hosting the website has taken a weight of our mind and improved sitespeed due to the more stable service than what we were using before.
Setting up of Microsoft was painless and Texaport resolve all the integration steps, allowing us to focus on our other business priorities. Their ongoing servicing is pleasant, fast & professional - all IT issues to date have been resolved.

Texaport are very prompt in responding to queries, and keep us updated throughout the resolution. All work was delivered in a timely manner, within the timelines stated in the project plan.

We found them through a Google search. We went out to tender with 2–3 consultants and defined what we needed. Texaport was the best overall, and we decided to move forward with them.

We pay about £1,500 (approximately $1,900 USD) a month, but overall have spent around  £20,000 (approximately $25,000 USD). This includes purchasing laptops.

Our engagement with Texaport began in May 2022, and it is ongoing.

Generally, we measure the success of the engagement by their response to any issues that we have. 

How did Texaport perform from a project management standpoint?

They are very good at sticking to the schedule and the budget. We mostly communicate through email and phone, and they often do things remotely. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Texaport does what they say they are going to do, which is an improvement from our previous provider. They understand what we’re looking for, and took the time to understand where we were starting at. We’ve already referred them to a couple of other businesses.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Texaport has set up our office's IT equipment, desks, and other hardware items. Currently, they maintain the software we use, such as Microsoft 365. When we have a new employee, Texaport sets them up with a new laptop; they ensure computers are set up with all the correct applications for our business. 

Additionally, Texaport looks after our phone lines. We have physical handsets on the desks and a softphone to answer calls on our mobile phones when we're out of the office. Texaport has helped us adopt the softphone software.

I mainly work with 2–3 teammates from Texaport, including a lead engineer.

Texaport was already our partner when I joined the company and took over the relationship. I believe they were selected based on being local to us.

For what projects/services did your company hire Texaport?

We were looking for some external support to help our business ensure we were GDPR compliant. Via a quick Google search, I discovered that Texaport, a fellow Edinburgh based organisation, provide GDPR consultancy.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I searched for local companies who provided a service to support businesses with GDPR compliance.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We had an initial discussion with Texaport and explained our requirement to tighten up in our GDPR compliance and to also look to gain an accreditation which demonstrated that Agenor were GDPR compliant. The Texaport consultants (Sean and Graeme) took us through the IASME Governance process which would tick both of the boxes we requested.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Two Texaport consultants were consistent throughout the process, one of whom was a GDPR expert.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Agenor Technology achieved IASME Cyber Assurance Level 1 certification as well as Cyber Essentials re-certification. We also received practical support on advice to develop a Data Retention policy and reference matrix which is a positive step toward our business becoming and remaining a GDPR compliant business.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Excellent communication from Sean and Graeme throughout the process. Regular Teams meetings and these guys where very clear on what steps we needed to take to make this project sucessful.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were very approachable and knowledgeable consultants. Listened to what we needed and provided a tailored solution to meet our requirements.

No obvious areas for improvement.

They also assist with any internet or server issues in a timely manner. They work on our backend server so that our data is safe, secure, and accessible.

We initially dealt with a director and a manager to discuss our company’s needs and agree on the IT setup. Now we discuss any issues directly with our primary contact.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our company runs efficiently and we rarely have problems. Texaport Ltd fixes any connectivity or hardware issues in a timely manner. They inform us as soon as new data security guidelines or updated processes are released, and then they quickly put those in place.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Workflow is extremely effective. We have a number of ways to get in touch with the team, which ensures we always have a point of contact who is available to manage any issues or queries.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They always deal with issues in a timely manner. We never have to wait overly long for problems to be resolved. They work hard to ensure that we’re able to work with few IT issues. Texaport Ltd often flags and resolves issues before we even notice there’s a problem.

We reached out to Texaport for some general IT services for our office in Scotland. Our previous provider was based in California and the time difference was starting to present too many challenges to continue the relationship.

Texaport initially provided IT support as we moved our office to a new location, setting up our servers from scratch. They continue to provide any tech support needed based on help tickets we submit to their team.

I work directly with the managing director, but they have an entire team ready to handle tickets as we submit them on an ad-hoc basis.
