Tekglide helped us develop our websites from scratch. Our business has two sides: e-commerce and lead generation. For the e-commerce site, they built it using Magento 2 and implemented various functionalities. For the lead generation site, they created it using WordPress, added a contact form and blog section, and installed custom features, such as a calculator. Currently, their team is providing us with maintenance support.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

With Tekglide’s help, we’ve seen an increase in website traffic and conversions. Also, the quality of their work is excellent.

How did Tekglide perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve exceeded our expectations in terms of managing the project and keeping us updated. They’ve also done a pretty good job of meeting deadlines and staying within budget. For managing tasks, we use Basecamp. For communication, we interact through Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with their communication and willingness to help. For instance, whenever we have an issue, they won’t just work on it right away; they’ll ask more questions to better understand the problem and figure out how to best solve it while keeping our budget in mind.

Are there any areas they could improve on?

It doesn’t happen frequently, but there are times when we end up talking about the same thing that we already brought up before with them.

I’m the manager of e-commerce for a company that sells exterior building products online.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tekglide?

We were updating one of our sites from Magento 2.3 to Magento 2.4 and combining two different sites. One website focused on local delivery and pickup, and the other didn't, but they carry the same product, so we wanted to combine them into one multi-store. Since Magento offers that possibility, we hired Tekglide to update one site so it could work with the other one and then combine them.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, we emailed Tekglide's developers with our goal to merge our websites and update one as we went. The team updated one of the sites from Magento 2.3 to Magento 2.4. Then, they set up our multi-store on our staging server. They converted all the plug-ins to the new website using Magento and JetRails for hosting. From there, we tested everything. 

The multi-store's purpose is to have one database sharing the same products instead of working with two different data sources. Although the Tekglide team mostly did backend work, they also worked on the frontend, including some web page designs.

We worked directly with Tekglide's main Magento developer. 

How did you come to work with Tekglide?

We had previously worked with them, so we were familiar with how they functioned. Initially, we found them through a Google search while looking for local Magento developers. Tekglide came up, I contacted them by phone, and they got back to me right away. We met them in person the next day and started working with them right after that meeting.

We spent around $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

This project lasted from April–June 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to Tekglide’s work, our site is now faster and easier to use. We’re also able to advertise the old site with Google Shopping, where previously, we were penalized by Google in our page ranking. Additionally, we’ve seen a huge increase in organic revenue, thanks partly to the updated version of Magento. After they did the merging of the multi-store, we also saw an uptick in sales and traffic. Not having to work with two different data sources has been extremely helpful, too.

How did Tekglide perform from a project management standpoint?

They did great with project management. We were able to get everything done through email with them. While some clients may prefer a portal or ticketing system, our relationship and communication through email were very good — they were always quick to respond. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their biggest strength was the value they provided. We considered other developers that quoted way more hours and a longer timeline than Tekglide was able to do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were some points where a project management portal would have been useful. Alternatively, they could have also kept a code repository to have more transparency on how to access their custom code. While we were okay working with them through email, other clients would probably want more options.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be prepared to work with only one developer from Tekglide. He’s international, so he’s in a different time zone than the US. He’s excellent, though.

Depending on the client we always have a kick-off call to go over project scope and functionality needs. We set up weekly calls that client and development team can give status updates. I lead on creation of designs and pass it off to the development team.

I am the project manager that works with client and Tekglide. I work with Tekglide to make sure all the creative assets are handed off and understood for development work. I tend to work with one of their leads and their developer.

Tekglide provides us with web development services. They took over our site and picked up where our previous provider left off, working with Magento. The team has upgraded our site and integrated many different functionalities. For example, they’ve added a variety of plugins. 

They’ve also made adjustments to the site’s design; they’ve done additional app-building to get the design to function the way it’s supposed to. The team has also done backend coding modifications. Additionally, Tekglide has made SEO-specific modifications to the site’s backend on my request. Currently, we have a small maintenance package with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The website’s flow and UX have improved thanks to Tekglide’s work. Their SEO-focused modifications have also really helped improve the site, and the team easily accomplished them after I brought them to their attention. Overall, I’m very happy with Tekglide’s work, customer service, and timely responses. The team is reasonable and competent. If I have an emergency, they get back to me pretty quickly.

How did Tekglide perform from a project management standpoint?

They meet deadlines and stay on budget. Now that we’ve established a relationship, we text back and forth and have an ongoing communication thread. For video calls, we primarily use Zoom, though we’ve used Google Meet and various other tools. 

We have meetings at the start of each project, so everybody is clear on our direction. If any hang-ups occur or something unusual comes up, Tekglide is always happy to have a Zoom meeting or phone call with us. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate that Tekglide is easy to work with. Although I know a lot more than the average person, I still don’t know much about websites, and the team explains things professionally when I ask questions. They’re really honest, especially compared to other providers I’ve run into. Moreover, the team knows their stuff when it comes to technical aspects. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they need to improve; they’re good people to work with.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re new to websites and app integrations, Tekglide will be so helpful, and you’ll learn so much if you ask questions. Half the battle is understanding what things are right and wrong. You have to learn to advocate for yourself, and they’re super helpful in that process.

We searched for a new website developer through our contacts and finally settled due to a recommendation from an associate of ours who was using the Tekglide team.

Since we hired the the Tekglide team after our we launched our website using our previous developer, our process was mainly putting out fires as they arose and then from their customizing the website to fit our needs.

A project manager is our main point of contact and we had contact with one other developer besides him however I believe that he is backed up by more than one person.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I do not have any statistics on site traffic and clickthroughs but as our website keeps improving our customers are responding favorably however we are constantly finding and making additional improvements mainly in making our website easier to use for our customers.

We have weekly meetings with our project manager and use basecamp to communicate with the team. The response to our queries is very good.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were willing to teach us how to do some tasks ourselves. And are willing to work through some difficult accommodations due to our unusual client base.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Sometimes when we ask for a customization the Tekglide is willing to do the customization but tell us afterwards that the customization that we asked for is causing other issues. It would be better to warn us ahead of time so that we have the chance to make a decision whether or not to proceed with the particular customization that we asked for.

The only other area that is sometimes difficult is that sometimes there is a misunderstanding due to a language barrier. I have found that it is a good procedure for me to make notes of every meeting and post them to basecamp within a couple of days of the meeting however I do not always find the time to do this.

I manage all marketing and CX functions for a manufacturer and wholesaler for camping and hiking equipment.

For what projects/services did your company hire Tekglide, and what were your goals?

Tekglide specifically looked after our DTC web store, by managing our Woo Commerce and Wordpress installations. Our goals were to improve conversions rates, improve site stability and speed, and update templates to optimize CX.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We interviewed several vendors and ultimately felt that the cost and expertise that Tekglide offered were unmatched. They met our budget and were very responsive and easy to communicate with, especially given the time zone difference and that they were not native English speakers.

During our retainer agreement, Tekglide performed regular updates and site maintenance. They fixed bugs in our existing templates, built new templates, and helped optimize our shopping cart.

We worked with two people during the engagement, however, I believe there were others behind the scenes helping with our projects, especially QA. We worked with the firm owner and one of their chief engineers/developers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our site downtime decreased significantly from where it was before working with Tekglide. We saw improvements in conversion rate by up to 1% during our peak months.

They were very adaptive in terms of communication. We fully integrated them into our systems, including Asana and Slack. This made communication seamless and made the firm function as if they were one of our team.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were the best off-shoring contractor I've worked with so far. I was appreciative with how flexible they were with their working hours.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There were a number of times when the speed of the work being done, particularly for long projects, could have been quicker. Also, I would have liked to see more ownership of our site management to ensure our systems were always up-to-date, without needing reminders from our team.

One of the biggest tasks asked was to develop a micro site for one of our new product launches. Without hesitation the team jumped in to configure what they could based on basic requests. They offered suggestions to make our main site and micro site cohesive.

They use a system called basecamp which captures all the details and timelines for the on going project. This allows for us to go back see what is still needed from the company side. Aside from that, an email or zoom message with questions or ideas is accommodated promptly.

I think I have stated this many times, and will continue to do so, their over all communication and fast implementation. If you can think of it, they will build it.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

When we fist transitioned to the new platform, there were a few minor things that were missing from the old to the new. The team was able to fix these bugs in a very timely fashion.

We hired the Tekglide team to manage our migration from Magento 1 to Magento 2 - a large scale platform upgrade - that was a requirement for merchants on the legacy version to transition to but that also came with a host of compelling new features, enhanced security and on-site processing speed.

Our goals were to successfully complete the upgrade in one years time (achieved), on budget (achieved), and with minimal hiccups/quick resolution for any bugs post cutover (achieved!) We also looked to take advantage of the many new backend features available for stakeholders across the organization, many of which found daily tasks increase in efficiency with better solutions as a result.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have been long-time clients of the team at Tekglide so when the need to migrate arose, they made the most sense to engage with given their deep knowledge & vast experience with both Magento & development management of our current implementation.

We established key milestones over the year to hold both parties accountable & while sometimes delays in delivering our design comps moved goalposts slightly or customization issues turned a week dev task into two, all in all we were able to complete the project & launch our new sites on-time as originally planned.

Tekglide handled the data migration and front and backend development for two branded websites that included an entire content refresh & UX redesign in addition to the platform upgrade - in short, it was an ambitious plan but one that together with Tekglide's help, we ultimately pulled off successfully!

They Tekglide team delivered high-quality work with only minimal errors, were super communicative & transparent throughout the duration of the project & post cut-over they worked diligently to correct any issues and deliver a bug-free environment on both the front & back ends of the site within 2-3 weeks of launch.

More than satisfied with the PM style of the Tekglide team, it was done primarily through email and a super user-friendly PM tool that made logging issues & keeping track of deliverables simple & easy to review & manage.

They worked within the parameters we'd set. They've made a daunting project far more simple to oversee because of the processes they employed at the beginning and maintained through the end.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They have a ton of experience in the space & especially with the various customizations that are often a part of any Magento implementation. They stay abreast of Magento's top features & functionalities. They are fast to respond, easy to work with, and do really great work at a really reasonable price.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They were extremely accommodating from start to finish & cannot at recall an area where either myself or my team was unsatisfied with how things were managed or working with the Tekglide team in general.
