Software Development | HealthTech&Security experts
TechMagic is a software engineering company specializing in healthtech, AI-powered products, and cybersecurity solutions. With over a decade of experience building mission-critical platforms for healthcare organizations, insurers, and digital health startups, we help clients move fast without cutting corners on compliance, security, or scale.
We are one of the few engineering partners with deep, hands-on expertise in Medplum — the open-source, FHIR-native EHR platform. As a recognized Medplum integration partner, our teams have designed and deployed end-to-end clinical workflows, patient-facing apps, and interoperability pipelines on top of the platform. Whether you're building from scratch or extending an existing Medplum instance, we understand its architecture at a level that shortens your time to launch and reduces implementation risk.
On the AI front, our engineers build production-ready solutions — from clinical decision support tools and NLP pipelines to AI-augmented back-office automation — designed with healthcare data governance in mind. We don't prototype. We ship.
Our cybersecurity practice covers HIPAA-aligned infrastructure, threat modeling, penetration testing, and secure architecture reviews. We embed security early in the development lifecycle so your product is audit-ready from day one, not as an afterthought.
TechMagic has delivered complex digital health, fintech, and enterprise solutions for clients across the US, EU, and beyond with a globally distributed team. We combine startup speed with enterprise-grade engineering discipline.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO at psHealth. We make automated referral and triage software for healthcare services, mostly within the NHS, but also for private healthcare services.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with TechMagic?
We needed to enhance our software. We needed our self-referral forms to be updated. TechMagic built the full-stack solution for that requirement. They’ve also worked on internal tools for our systems in the past.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Both applications were built using a JavaScript stack with a MongoDB database and Node.js backend. In one application, they used Angular, and in the other, they used React.
The team also performs QA testing on all of the software.
What is the team composition?
On the most recent project, we worked with four people. There are several developers, a project manager, and an account manager. Their CTO was also involved.
How did you come to work with TechMagic?
Before I joined the company, TechMagic had already been working with us. From what I understand, they were introduced through one of our board members who has his own software company. He used TechMagic for a lot of development projects.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $40,000–$50,000 on the latest project.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them on the most recent project in April 2020. Our next project with them starts before the end of the year.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their technical abilities are great. The team delivers quality code with high-quality architecture. I keep going back to TechMagic because our junior development team can learn a lot from their skillset.
We deploy a lot of software using AWS, and their side is knowledgeable in that area.
How did TechMagic perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management is very organized. We communicate using Slack, email, and video calls. There can be some mishaps with communication, but it’s never been a particular issue. We all just have to make sure to take things slower at times.
The team plans their work very efficiently, ensuring we never have a delivery issue. We use Jira for our collaboration.
What did you find most impressive about them?
My favorite part of working with TechMagic is their reliability. Their attention to detail is standard.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Occasionally, there is a language barrier, but it’s never been a major issue.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be clear about your requirements upfront.

A social media growth company reached out to TechMagic and asked them to lead their website's full revamp. The team is responsible for the front- and backend development, as well as the design.
TechMagic showed patience and genuine interest in the project, rather than canceling the deal when things were going roughly. The team showed their expertise in what they do and are always ready to provide a fix whenever a problem arises.
The client submitted this review online.
BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the Director of the Company. We help our clients to get more exposure on social media.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire TechMagic, and what were your goals?
Our website and complete customer experience was quite bad, outdated, not scalable and used non-ideal technology. All our in-house developers were used to keep our infrastructure alive and they are also not very experienced in modern web technologies. We needed an all-in-one solution to re-develop the customer platform.
SOLUTION
How did you select TechMagic and what were the deciding factors?
We tried freelancers but they were unreliable, delivered poor quality code or simply disappeared when they couldn't solve a problem. We needed a solution that is reliable and that works on its own without us having to check everything in great detail. After inquiring with 7 different Tech companies, we chose TechMagic because they made the best impression and we liked their dedicated team model that is much more flexible than to just pay for a project since it allows for changes along the way.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
TechMagic was tasked to develop a complete solution for us. Front-end + Back-End. We had a discovery phase after which initial designs and wireframes were delivered. After we agreed on the design, the full designs and user-flows were developed. Afterwards the scope was defined in Jira and development started.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We have access to the whole team and can speak with every developer directly which is really great. The project manager makes sure that everything works as it should and that the team is happy. All in all, we worked with the delivery manager, business analyst, one CEO, the head of partner engagement an experience developer and a designer in the background and our team consists of awesome people: a project manager, two deveopers and a QA.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We just launched the website a few days ago so it is too early to compare the numbers but it seems like the conversion rate went up on the new landing page.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We are using Slack and Jira, as well as Zoom or Skype to coordinate the work. Besides that, we have one weekly meeting with the whole team and one weekly meeting with the PM to make sure everything is on the right track. There are 2-week sprints and most of the time all the tasks were completed during a sprint. Sometimes there are just things that you cannot plan for.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They assemble a team for you according to your specifications and then make sure that everything works. The only thing you need to tell them is what to do or how to do it if you want to be really specific. They will execute it and you can be sure that it gets done without you having to check on every small step they do. I also liked it really much that they specialize in Javascript which makes them true experts in that topic. In the last months, our company had financial troubles and we couldn't settle the invoices for several weeks so several were overdue. TechMagic believed in the project and kept going instead of cancelling the project.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Currently I cannot think of anything. If there is a problem, they are doing their best to fix it as soon as possible.

Working on updating the business platform, TechMagic designed a new frontend and updated the entire stack on the backend.
TechMagic has delivered as expected thus far, completing work on time and problem-solving as necessary. Not only do they keep reliable documentation of their deliverables, but they also understand the business and its product. Additionally, the team is committed to being as helpful as possible.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m partly owner & COO of PeerPilot. We do online business assessments, letting candidates solve a business case anonymous together with other candidates.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with TechMagic?
We were looking for some backend and frontend development to update and modernize our platform.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
TechMagic provided frontend services. They completely updated the frontend with new design, creating a more modern and intuitive-looking platform. The team also used a more updated and modern technology stack on the backend development.
What is the team composition?
There is a core team of four individuals that work with us continually, but overall, there are about eight teammates.
How did you come to work with TechMagic?
We reached out to a few companies and presented rough sketches of our vision, then listened to their ideas. TechMagic’s team was open, approachable, and honest about the areas they felt were not adequate to meet our needs. We went to visit them, and we saw their technology stacks and talked to their programmers.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, on the entire project we’ve spent €250,000–€300,000 (approximately $282,000–$338,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together around November 2018, and our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They've met and exceeded our expectations regarding how they solve issues if we're headed in the wrong direction and delivering weekly.
How did TechMagic perform from a project management standpoint?
We use a scrum approach, and we have weekly meetings to discuss the delivery. They had some initial challenges in understanding our laid-back way of dealing with everything, but they adjusted fast. We communicate via Slack, Jira, and Skype and physical meetings and the team document their deliverables very well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They did an impressive job of understanding where we wanted to go without us having to explain it explicitly. TechMagic understood the core of our product. They also took half of their company to assess our old platform’s ups and downs in order to bring it forward for the next iteration, which was extremely helpful.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They should document what their client needs to do in order to help them be most successful in collaboration.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Meet the team, including junior programmers, because you can learn so much from them.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a co-founder and the CTO of Graviz Pirenne Labs.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with TechMagic?
We’d been looking for coders in Sweden, but they were impossible to find. There were too many big players offering people too much money, so we had to look into other options, such as nearshoring. We needed a platform to interact with our users.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They are helping us with the development of an AI platform used for marketing measurements, aimed at replacing the highly manual market research industry. Our setup now comprises internal computer engineers and scientists who work with the AI elements.
TechMagic created the front- and backend of the platform to which we connect the functions. They also helped us with the architecture set up to determine what was the simplest architecture we could use.
They’re continuing to build different applications and features of the platform, both on the front- and backend, in collaboration with our AI team.
The platform is on a serverless construction on Google Cloud together with Firebase. TechMagic is using Node.js on the backend and React on the frontend. We use Google Cloud functions to connect the AI, which is coded in Python, to make it connect to the Node.js backend.
What is the team composition?
We started with one developer from TechMagic, then went to two. We had a delivery manager, but it was a bit difficult to interact with him, so I had to interact directly with the developers at first. I also worked with Igor (Delivery Manager) and a coordinator.
How did you come to work with TechMagic?
Our company had a different CTO, who started the collaboration with TechMagic. I took over from that person. Initially, we had discussions with several companies, including TechMagic. We did several test trials for developers, and we decided to go with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $250,000 thus far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with TechMagic in February 2019, and our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’m a very honest and straightforward communicator, but not everybody can take it. What I really like about TechMagic is that I’ve been able to have an open conversation with everyone on their team.
It takes a while, and we had to push them to do it, but they do come back and tell us when they find a problem or something to improve. They think together with me, which I really appreciate. The team tells me when a certain approach will be faster or cheaper, and so forth, which is what I appreciate the most. They think about our costs as well.
How did TechMagic perform from a project management standpoint?
Interacting directly with the developers was quite challenging for me since I was caught up in other things as well. What I liked about Igor was that I could always have an open discussion with him, and I’m sure the feeling is reciprocal.
At some point, we told him that we needed more coordination and structure. It was hard for me to work with the developers, in terms of making sure they understood all the requirements. I had an open conversation with Igor about it, and he told me he didn’t have the time to manage this.
They then brought the coordinator on to support the delivery manager, and she’s doing a fantastic job. It’s a lot easier and smoother. There’s still room for improvement, but it’s gone significantly better.
Then, there was the question of payment. They told me that they could get me a coordinator, but I’d have to pay extra. I refused because if the delivery manager couldn’t do his job and he was already being paid, and he needed some help, that was fine, but I wasn’t going to pay for it.
We had an open and honest conversation about that as well, and now they don’t charge extra for the coordinator. She’s dedicating 50% of her time to our project. She also has QA experience, so I’d love to involve her more on that part, which I’ll have to pay for since it’s an extra service.
The project management got a lot better when their coordinator came in. To be quite honest, it’s not entirely their fault. We were still in the exploration phase of our product, having to figure out some stuff.
We had some problems prioritizing on our end. I’m not going to hold everything against them. We could’ve worked faster, but that’s on our side as well.
I think it’s more of a communication issue than anything else. The coordinator only started working with us a month or so ago, so we’re very much still in the acquaintance period. Those are just small frustrations.
I may sound negative, but other than that, I’m quite happy with them. I’m very happy with their lead developer. He’s a quick thinker, he tries to proactively look for solutions with us, and he comes up with improvements.
That’s why I pay a bit of a premium for TechMagic. This team comes back and tells us what we could improve, or they come up with workarounds.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’ve worked with large companies that give you exactly what you ask for. With TechMagic, they’re on the clock, so it works differently, but at least we can make changes. They’ll push back sometimes, and they’ll agree other times, but they understand that it’s business first, and that’s good.
That means that sometimes we’ll have to make decisions that might not seem logical from a development point of view, but make absolute sense from a business point of view, and the team will execute them anyway because it’s important for the business.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’m a very structured person, but I’m not always organized. There’s a difference between the two in that I can always break down structure and work very boxed, but I’m not the kind of person who’ll spend their time making charts and so forth.
It would be beneficial if we found ways of doing that, and it’s something I’ve been discussing with TechMagic. There are tools for that. We use Jira for ticketing, and we can start making epics, put in start and end dates, and make roadmaps.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a UI team lead at an electric scooter startup. We have a mobile app that allows users to lock their scooters when they’re not in use.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with TechMagic?
We hired them to help us develop the companion app.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We provided them with designs and they worked to develop the app for iOS and Android. Eventually, they took full ownership of the project. Now, they’re in charge of the app and the cloud service that connects the scooters to the app.
They used Kotlin Multiplatform to share the business logic between the iOS and Android versions of the app. They also used Swift.
What is the team composition?
We started with one part-time project manager, an Android developer, and a backend developer. We’ve expanded the team to add an additional Android and backend developers, and two iOS developers. We’ve also worked with a QA person.
How did you come to work with TechMagic?
They approached us.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $80,000-$100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I first started talking to them in February 2019, but we didn’t start working together until June.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t have any metrics because we haven’t released the app to the public yet. However, the internal team is very happy with their work. I would definitely recommend them.
How did TechMagic perform from a project management standpoint?
They were proactive and looked for feedback from us. They didn’t make assumptions about what we wanted. They were also good about pointing out where there were blind spots in our plans. The team provided weekly updates on their progress. We had regular calls, and they provided documented reports. We also shared a Trello.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I was impressed by their flexibility and the amount of responsibility they take for their work. I feel confident that we’ve improved the app because of the suggestions they offered. They were willing and capable to take over ownership of the entire backend.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s nothing on top of my mind. Their initial estimates for how long the development would take were a bit too optimistic, but I won’t fault them for that.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
At first, we were hesitant to have a project manager from their side. However, I think since having a designated project manager from their end, we’ve seen a great deal of improvement.

TechMagic provided staff augmentation services. Their staffers offered frontend development with React and backend support with AWS. They worked on the mobile website and desktop products.
Overall, TechMagic made great recommendations and suggestions on the course of database and AWS development. Their team had a great quality of work and stellar feedback. Working remotely, they communicated well through Jira and Google Hangouts.

transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Sportdec, a gambling software company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with TechMagic?
We’re operating in a very competitive market for tech talent. We were trying to expand our team and needed a company that offered staff augmentation.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They worked for us in two different ways. The first project was for a distinct piece of development work we gave them—there was a product spec and they provided the development resources to help launch it. We also added a frontend developer to our core team on a remote basis. On the frontend, we used React and React Native. On the backend, we used Amazon Cloud Service and AWS. We were mainly working on mobile web and desktop.
What is the team composition?
There were two developers. I had a main point of contact for progress updates and managing the workflow.
How did you come to work with TechMagic?
Ross (Head of Partner Engagement, TechMagic) reached out to me on LinkedIn. We followed up with some conference calls and then met up in London. We liked the technologies they were using and determined it was a good fit between the two businesses. I got a sense of their professionalism and standout organization. It gave me reassurance that they could deliver what we needed.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested $35,000-$40,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in April until December 2019.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
From the initial project we gave them, they made some recommendations as to how we might be able to retrofit some of the technologies. They recommended that we move our database to Firebase. Afterward, they gave us solid feedback on how we could improve deployments on AWS. We're definitely impressed with the standard and quality of work that they provided to us.
How did TechMagic perform from a project management standpoint?
The developers worked remotely. The communication went through my head of product, initially. The communication was mainly through instant message and Google Hangouts. The workflow was managed through Jira. When we took on the remote developer who worked for our core team, it was very similar. We had a daily standup meeting that he joined via video call. He also worked with our scrum team using Jira as the tracking software. Communication was either through email, instant message, or conference calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Aside from their excellent quality of work, their communication process is very good.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We struggled with the ability to quickly ramp up. When we were looking to add remote people to our core team, there could've been more flexibility in terms of available resources in order to quickly scale up their teams. That held us back a bit, but I can understand why they don’t want to have expensive resources sitting on the bench waiting for work to come in.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Go with a clear objective. They were very good when we went to them with a specific project that we had fully scoped and designed. With this, they were quickly able to pick up on estimates, determine what work would be involved, and what it would cost. Have a clear idea and plan on what you’re looking to deliver.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
We're a SaaS business building a martech platform. I'm responsible for the software development, from planning to maintenance.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire TechMagic?
We outsourced one of the biggest stories on our roadmap to TechMagic. It was a microservice (both frontend and backend) responsible for managing products, which could be managed manually or imported/synchronised from CSV product feeds.
What were your goals for this project?
The service had to replace a previous, outdated microservice. It had to be more modern, including better scalability, maintainability, and flexibility from the user's perspective. It had to be integrated perfectly with our existing infrastructure. The scope included planning, analysis, implementation and testing.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
They were recommended to us by a business connection. TechMagic's visit to our offices persuaded us.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
The requirements weren't fully clear at the start of the project, so we started out with a discovery workshop outlining what was needed exactly. Low-fi wireframes were created, which were sent to our own designer. Once this was more clear, a full stack developer started working on two projects: the backend and frontend component of the service. We decided later to add another frontend project with shared components to facilitate integrating with the existing architecture. After a couple of months, a handover was done to a team including a frontend engineer, a backend engineer and a QA engineer. They worked in two-week sprints, releasing often and early. The requested features included CRUD of products and product feeds, including the possibility to sync 100Ks of products with CSV-formatted product feeds.
What was the team composition?
To kickstart the project:
business analysis
full-stack developer
After about two months:
a team with a NodeJS developer
a React developer
a QA engineer
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Introducing this module greatly improved the flexibility of our system, allowing existing and new customers to address completely new use cases.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
As the business requirements weren't completely clear at the beginning of the project, expectations weren't completely met regarding deadlines. This improved very much after a couple of weeks, though, especially after adopting the two-weeks sprints. Communication went through Slack, JIRA, Confluence, Zoom, Bitbucket.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
TechMagic's employees are very proactive. Having (remote) meetings with them is a breeze, always resulting in concrete action points and plannings.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Even though the time pressure was high, we should've taken testing in scope from the beginning of the project.

TechMagic provides development support to a market research company. A developer is currently augmenting their team to help build a web platform’s backend. They previously assisted on two one-off web apps.
Whether they’re leading development or augmenting the internal team, TechMagic has exceeded expectations and fostered a multi-project partnership. Internal stakeholders appreciate having access to the entire team’s expertise. Reputable and organized, they meet deadlines and offer fair costs.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the lead developer at a market research company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with TechMagic?
We engaged them to support development projects.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
TechMagic is a development company that provides both outsourcing and staff augmentation options. For the last nine months, a TechMagic developer has worked with my team full-time. He is helping to develop a web platform’s backend with Node.js.
We previously worked with TechMagic on two one-off web apps. My team managed the projects, and they did front- and backend development and testing.
What is the team composition?
Right now, we’re just working with the one developer who augments our development team. Between the other two projects, each of which had four people assigned to them, we’ve worked with about 6–7 team members.
How did you come to work with TechMagic?
I can’t remember if they contacted us or vice versa, but we were looking for companies to help augment our team.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our work together began in November 2018, and it’s ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We review the individual developer’s code. TechMagic is meeting or exceeding our expectations in all aspects.
How did TechMagic perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve done quite well in this regard. The individual developer works hand-in-hand with one of our team’s developers, who is the project lead and reviews the TechMagic developer’s code through pull requests. An account manager from their side checks in. On the previous two projects, TechMagic had lead developers.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Another company we’ve worked with has more of a distributed and remote structure. The benefit of working with TechMagic has been the fact that they seem like they’re onsite. When our assigned developer runs into issues, he can go to senior management and colleagues to utilize their expertise. We’ve received the benefits of hiring the team, not just the individual. They’re an organized and well-established company.
Are there any areas they could improve?
This isn’t a slight against their work, but it seems like they have a lot going on whenever we request developers with specific technical knowledge, such as MongoDB or React. They generally don’t have someone immediately available, which probably just means that they’re properly utilizing their team members.
Any advice for potential customers?
They usually need a couple of weeks’ or months’ notice to form any specific technology stack team.

TechMagic provides outsourced development services for an educational technology firm. One of their developers has already upgraded a website, and the client plans to use more of the team for future projects.
TechMagic continues to deliver exceptional services. Flexible and communicative, the team holds frequent check-ins to ensure that they are meeting every requirement. Their commitment to gathering and responding appropriately to feedback sets them apart from other providers.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the founder and CEO of Taggis, an e-learning software development company. We develop virtual training environments, mostly for the international airline industry. Our aviation industry clients use our software production tools to create learning solutions for flight, cabin, and maintenance crews.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with TechMagic?
Although we already have a robust, in-house team, we realize that we need to scale up and are trying to find an economical way of doing that. Specifically, we need some backend developers and frontend developers to help with various projects. Labor in Sweden is costly, especially in Stockholm, because it's a tech hub. We’re trying to find solutions to this problem through developers in other countries.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
After we found TechMagic, we started with a test project that took three or four months. We wanted to see how they work and evaluate their development skills. At the time, we needed to upgrade our website, so we gave that project to one of their developers.
What is the team composition?
Right now, we have one developer from TechMagic who works for us full time. We also communicate with a custome relations manager.
How did you come to work with TechMagic?
I met TechMagic through my brother. He found them while searching for developers for his company. They came over to Stockholm a few times to meet with us before we gave them the initial project.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent approximately $30,000 for about five months of work.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started in February 2019, and the project is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We gave TechMagic a small web development project to get a feel for their approach. We wanted to understand how they communicate, their documentation, and their project management structure, among other things. We haven’t measured their work in any meaningful way, but we’ve been very satisfied with their services.
We were nervous in the beginning about having a developer working from a distance, because all of our previous developers were in house. Luckily, the developer from TechMagic has been great. It’s an ongoing partnership, and the team will likely grow in the future.
How did TechMagic perform from a project management standpoint?
We have project managers on our side who have worked closely with their dedicated developer from the beginning. Also, our developers have been able to have discussions with their CTO and some of their other developers. Our CTO and project managers take care of setting up two-week sprints for the developer. Up until this point, we’ve been intentionally moving slowly until we get a feel for the partnership.
The developer from TechMagic is very accessible via Slack, and we have conversations almost every day. We also have weekly to biweekly conference calls with TechMagic’s customer relations manager to review the developer’s work. The customer relations manager is great about asking for our feedback and making sure that we’re satisfied with the partnership.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re very focused on making sure that the project is going well and that we’re satisfied. For example, I had a meeting recently with one of TechMagic's co-founders, Andrew (Co-Founder & CTO, TechMagic). He wanted to introduce me to the new customer relation managers.
With partnerships like this one, other vendors will provide a developer and never ask for feedback. TechMagic is different because they’re eager to make sure that we’re content with their services. They’ve even come to check-in with our team in Sweden a few times. We’re very close in terms of our business relationship. I would also like to add that their pricing level is good, and they always respond quickly.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’m not sure. We've had success managing one developer, but it could be that, when the team grows, we will need some other kind of assistance from them. At the moment, I don't think that there’s anything that they should be doing differently. We’ve been able to handle the project, even from a distance, with Slack and conference calls.
If you looked around, you could probably find less expensive developers. We had discussions with multiple companies from other countries that were cheaper. TechMagic's structured approach to communication and scheduling makes them a better fit than these other providers.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I’ve heard from other company executives that TechMagic turns down work with companies who don’t have a CTO. They don’t want to work with certain startups because they want structure from the client’s side. It’s really a matter of feeling like there’s mutual trust.
I would recommend that other companies have at least an informal discussion with them. I think most people would be very satisfied with their approach.
