I’m the office manager of a family-owned firm specializing in hotel and multifamily real estate ownership, development, and management, with a focus on operational excellence, sustainability, and long-term value creation.

What challenges were you trying to address with Tech River?

We needed help with our onboarding and offboarding processes, keeping our IT safe and secure, and educating the staff on how to keep our systems safe and secure.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Tech River provides in-house onboarding and offboarding services. The team helps onboard new employees, get their computers set up, and get their whole system set up so it works with the monitor, docking stations, and everything else attached. Tech River has set up a whole new system for us, including a new server and new access to OneDrive. The team has also helped us with safety and security issues, working with us in our corporate office, residential properties, and hotels.

We started working together in September 2023, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since we hired Tech River to be our offsite IT service and not just to complete a specific project, our measurable outcomes have been our response time, success rate, and the number of times it takes to get to that success rate for the task at hand.
The success rate is based on informal feedback from our team and includes whether the customer is happy, if the problem was solved on the first try, if it took several tries, if it didn’t get resolved, if the person seeking help from Tech River was satisfied with how the tech responded, how quickly and accurately the team responded, if they followed up and ensured everything was working correctly, and if they asked if there was something else we needed assistance with.

How did Tech River perform from a project management standpoint?

Tech River works closely with our VP, especially Marty (IT Director). I believe they’ve worked to get the main deliverables delivered in a timely fashion. We’ve had good success rates with them solving other issues, including IT issues, setting up computers, onboarding new employees, offboarding employees, and anything else that pops up along the way. We communicate via email and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Tech River’s willingness to work with us in a unique area we’re working in — both residential properties and hotels, also having a small corporate office — is impressive. The team provides hands-on assistance when we need it, including stopping by the office to do onboarding in person, picking up a computer for us if we need it and getting it set up, and swinging by when we have a problem.
Tech River is willing to do whatever it takes to make us happy and make our lives easier.

We needed help securing our network, bringing our network hardware up to current standards, moving data to the cloud, and outsourcing IT tasks.

Tech River has upgraded our network hardware, implemented better security, moved us to Microsoft Office 365, and is assisting with moving our data to the cloud. The team also handles support requests promptly and efficiently.

Tech River has upgraded our physical equipment, moved files to the cloud, and implemented network security. We’ve reduced downtime and freed up internal resources to work on our business rather than on IT support. For example, we’ve saved at least several hours every week.

They deliver on time. We communicate via in-person meetings and email or messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed by their visits to our facility and their ability to meet the team in person and to handle our needs as a small business.
